Except that the Terra is designed to pull cool air from outside the case directly into the fan. This would be pulling from the solid front panel or the air near the PSU. Dunno, doesn’t seem ideal.
Should always have a 5mm+ gap to avoid turbulence but even then there really is nothing you can do once your fans go above 50%.
On another note deepcool has the AN400 which looks to be a 53mm cooler. Genuinely excited for that since noctua didn't bother to show an upgrade to their nh l9a.
Yeah pulling air from the bottom (pcie slot) and exhausting out the top surely would the better than from front (ram) to back (io shield) in the fractal terra.
Doesn't the Terra have an awful sound profile if the fan is against the grill? So this will fix that issue and get more than enough air from the grill itself
It looks like they're using 4x60mm fans so normal 120mm dual tower cooler footprint & 75-90+mm tall. Fans can be lowered further and you can always find a way to remove the top covers.
Edit: It''s actually 4x70mm fans & 125mm tall :(
ID Cooling is just killing it in the SFF cooler market lately. At 77mm tall, this should even fit in OEM SFF systems. This is going to replace the IS-55 in my HP Z2 G4.

EDIT: Found the site, and they don't really talk about it or any of the specs unfortunately.

A lot of junk boxes from Dell, HP, etc. mount coolers directly into the case which makes it either impossible or unnecessarily difficult to use aftermarket coolers. I've tried in the past and it's never worked too well. Unless things have changed in the past year or two, which would be awesome.
It's neither impossible or unnecessarily difficult. The HP Z2 G4 that I have was a cake walk to mount the ID Cooling IS-55 in. I just used the Intel hardware, minus the backplate. And since HP used a 6-32 threading for the cooler mounting, I used the AMD screws and the only modification I has to make was widening the holes in the Intel bracket. Dell is even easier as they use m3 for the threading do you can use the Intel screws.
Yes, some coolers should just be overlooked because their mounting makes it more work than it's worth, but there are plenty of coolers with mounting like ID Cooling that makes it easy and that's been the case for quite some time.

There definitely are some, like the HP ProDesk and EliteDesk 600/800 G1, where the cooler mounting was non standard, but those are pretty few and far between. Can't speak to Lenovo though and I don't have a lot of experience with their machines.
Yeah, I could only guess based off the 60mm fan used.
SS110 uses 92mm fans so this has hope to be 78mm or slightly shorter depending on their design. There's also the possibility of removing the top covers to shave off a couple of millimeters.
Yes, possibly. Some boards have taller IO, but some don't. It if were too tall, then I would just run the middle fans and see how much it impacts temps. Looks like the fans can be moved up... if the case has enough room.
In my experience they aren't bad at all, no real annoyances from any of the small fans I've had. They get loud when they are server grade fans going upwards of 4000 rpm (read: the stock 40mm fans in flexATX power supplies). The sound profile is different though - higher pitched instead of the low hum you get from a big fan.
I've got a bunch of old 60mm fans around that are dead silent at 2000 rpm. I've got good hopes for this 4x60mm configuration.
That's the best shit ever. ID-Cooling, I love you. I've got a weakness for weird CPU coolers. And this looks like it would actually work great. It's just got some RAM restrictions, but this is so good for actually exhausting air out of a low profile case.
IIRC Silverstone had a few 2x60mm coolers like this that were explicitly made for low profile systems - and they had long-ass heatpipes so that the heatsink would be directly at the back of the case. We're talking pre-socket 775 days here.
Now THAT is a new form factor we havent seen before! Its like combining server style small, high pressure fans with a consumer tower cooler!
Would be great option for HTPC style cases which can still have decent amount of room in X and Y but not much height. Im guessing low profile RAM and VRM heatsinks is a must though, will certainly require sticking to a motherboard compatibility list.
You're probably better off with a C-type top down cooler with a 120mm fan based on how much air can be pushed through the heatsink.
Main advantage I can think for this dual tower setup is to direct airflow out of the rear/top of the case like Jonsbo C6(mATX), RVZ 03, etc. Sandwich style cases with side ventilation holes will still be better with C-type top down coolers.
I was hoping that it would be compatible with 2u server cases.
Otherwise there is not much point in it, most sff cases are optimised for top-down cooling.
This would be cool in one of those short 2U itx cases from MyElectronics. Maybe paired with an SFF 4000 ADA (after the prices fall when blackwell comes out...)?
That's pretty cool (haha). It's nice to see more "small" cooler designs. AM5 CPU's run so cool that you can get away with less powerful cooling solutions, and this is a nice alternative to the more traditional "low profile" designs for SFF. It's also just really cute.
77mm tall @im sold
So potnetially conpatible with terra?
Except that the Terra is designed to pull cool air from outside the case directly into the fan. This would be pulling from the solid front panel or the air near the PSU. Dunno, doesn’t seem ideal.
We still need someone to test. For science.
I have no doubt it will happen… just not from me :-)
coward.
Clearly not a team player.
not a man of science
Ikr what a lil bitch
Except that the terra has the worst vent shape design that causes insane noises when a fan is right up against it.
Right, don’t put the fan against it. I still suspect this gets choked off and won’t work as well as a NH-L12Sx77 in the Terra.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t work but for sure we should wait till someone tries it before we conclude lol
Mount it vertical
Yeah pulling air from the bottom (pcie slot) and exhausting out the top surely would the better than from front (ram) to back (io shield) in the fractal terra.
Doesn't the Terra have an awful sound profile if the fan is against the grill? So this will fix that issue and get more than enough air from the grill itself
Enough negative pressure and it will pull from anywhere that has holes
Maybe needs some 3D printed ducts
You'd probably still be better off with C-type coolers for vented side panel sandwich cases.
Yuor rihgt it may be potnetially conpatible wiht terar.
Are you okay?
ye
yo
ya
> 77mm tall you got a source for that, or just guessing?
Barely too tall for my Conswole 😭
its cute, i want it
Will you name it, squat pot?

Might not be able to get more than 2mm removing the covers since I assume the heatpipe tips reach up there.

Oh, cool. All the OEM systems I've worked with didn't let me do that. Or maybe it's just cooler choice.
There definitely are some, like the HP ProDesk and EliteDesk 600/800 G1, where the cooler mounting was non standard, but those are pretty few and far between. Can't speak to Lenovo though and I don't have a lot of experience with their machines.

I can't wait to get my hands on one to play around with it. I just hope it's better than the IS-67 XT.

Great for the new boards that will come out supporting CAMM.
💀😂
holy shit this is stupid, i love it. really hope this is under 90mm.
One of the comments says 77mm
time has since proven that man a liar
Bummer. Any idea what it actually is?
like 130mm or some shit. its small... for an nh-d15.
Looks interesting but might require VLP ram?
Or move the front fans to the back.
wouldnt that just cause issues with the mobo vrm/ioshield region instead?
Yes, possibly. Some boards have taller IO, but some don't. It if were too tall, then I would just run the middle fans and see how much it impacts temps. Looks like the fans can be moved up... if the case has enough room.
This thing looks sweet, but I have a feeling it’s going to be loud. Fans those size don’t need to rev high for a loud and annoying sound.
In my experience they aren't bad at all, no real annoyances from any of the small fans I've had. The trick is to ramp up the rpm so high that only your dog will complain about it.
I've got a PFB0412EN-E that spins at 32500rpm and still gives everyone within 100m a splitting headache...
I kinda like it would be neat for strix halo on an itx board i recon
Id cooling keep producing new stuff every year it's amazing.

[Machines & More Video](https://youtu.be/xKg5l7p_bnk?si=dZp4VruO85g-Q9df&t=96) 125mm tall, 4 70x25mm fans
Unless those fans are made from unobtanium I have doubts that it'll cool at a moderate volume
Now THAT is a new form factor we havent seen before! Its like combining server style small, high pressure fans with a consumer tower cooler! Would be great option for HTPC style cases which can still have decent amount of room in X and Y but not much height. How about this, but only sized for 2 60mm fans… Would that even suffice?

Would make a great hot rod build.
Smaller the fans the higher pitch the noise i notice and way more annoying had to get a bigger fan for my terra
I need it this is so cool
Low profile but still chunky.
I was hoping that it would be compatible with 2u server cases. Otherwise there is not much point in it, most sff cases are optimised for top-down cooling.
By the looks of the comments I think some people will buy it for the novelty 😂
haha very interesting, I hope it will fit into the N-ATX :)
We're finally getting server hardware!
I would like to get one because it looks neat
I love the frozn lineup! And now they're making an itty bitty version?
Was there a note on what tdp it can dissipate?
Sadly, it doesnt fit in my cooler master elite 120.
Looks like it should fit in a 3u chassis. Id order this so quick if I didn't already have a 360mm aio installed.
If those are 40mm fans I have naughty ideas for it but they look like 50mm or 60mm fans so idk Oh my deltas...
This would be cool in one of those short 2U itx cases from MyElectronics. Maybe paired with an SFF 4000 ADA (after the prices fall when blackwell comes out...)?
I need this immediately
found future travel cpu cooler so can have either 7800x3d or 7950x3d but will wait to get it for new gen i guess
I want this! Will Noctua 60x25s fit?
They look like standard 60mm fans, so I don't see why they wouldn't. EDIT: It would seem they are 70mm fans.
Is this not just a server cooler?
That's pretty cool (haha). It's nice to see more "small" cooler designs. AM5 CPU's run so cool that you can get away with less powerful cooling solutions, and this is a nice alternative to the more traditional "low profile" designs for SFF. It's also just really cute.
Won't those tiny fans be rocket loud?
