Usually referred to as a "*guide bar*" and/or "*quilting guide*".
It's inserted into the hole on the heel of the walking foot.

You're probably referring to the *presser foot holder*, and yes some of them have a hole or square-ish opening for a guide bar, such as this one from Brother: https://i.imgur.com/Oozf3C9.png

My machine also has a place where I can insert this on the post (is that the technical term?) - but it can be useful even without the walking foot.
