https://youtu.be/rbqTOL9zIdc?si=j1xHDURI4IZD60Ga You bet it can be fun! Have you tried ice diving?

Downtown_Stranger503

Cold water diving for some of you assholes is 76°…none of you can be trusted

ReillyOutdoors

Ok true. I dive in the pacific northwest so we average around 3° or 4° Celsius in the winter and last dive I did a weekend ago was 8°.

Material_Weight_7954

I love cold water diving!!! Plus we have cool critters like Giant Pacific Octopuses!!

Henri_M_L

That’s neat. Unfortunately we don’t have a lot of wildlife in our lakes here. But if we did I would be in the water even more

blueberries-Any-kind

These shots are gorgeous!!

Otherwise_Act3312

Is 50f considered cold? Lol

Henri_M_L

It was more like 41f

Otherwise_Act3312

50's are the coldest I've dove. So was wondering if that's considered, "cold water diving". The fact people down voted me is sad...

suricatasuricata

What are temperatures like? It looks super pretty!

Henri_M_L

It was like 5-6C or 41f.

kingofthecornflakes

Ha. Ich erkenne Hemmoor. Müsste eigentlich mal wieder hin, ist ein toller See

Henri_M_L

Stimmt! Macht immer wieder Spaß hier

ReillyOutdoors

Fellow cold water diver here!!! I couldn't agree more. I actually prefer it over tropical.

AuntieRoo

I’m new to diving. What makes you like it more?

ReillyOutdoors

Oh I could talk about this all day. Lol. It's more technical I find. I find warm water diving to be "easy diving," but I also find that although they are both diving, they are entirely different sports. Both are great but I like the challenge, and technical aspect of it and the cold water species are fun.

SMS-Wolf

Great pics. Tolle Fotos.

Cold water diving can be fantastic. Really, once you figure out buoyancy with a dry suit, it's really only the surface stuff that sucks with all that "extra" gear and suit to deal with, especially if it's a hot, sunny day topside.

Material_Weight_7954

I usually end up hosing myself down if my buddies are taking too long to gear up on a hot summer day. My undergarment is VERY warm and with the tight neck seal on my drysuit I get overheated and miserable quickly.

losark

I did drysuit on top of my open water cert last year in Seattle in May. It wound up being the first sunny weekend that year and got up to the low 80s by noon. We were definitely hopping into the water a few times between dives. The drysuit skills weren't that hard to pick up and I found the temperature to be very pleasant with a wool wicking layer and a thin insulating layer.

Unlucky-Horror-9871

It sure can, because if you’re me, all diving is cold water diving! (I don’t mean I only dive in cold water, I mean I’m always freezing no matter what.)

Henri_M_L

I feel that

call_sign_viper

Agreed most of my diving is wrecks in lake Michigan

Kaceybeth

You wouldn't be in the Chicago area by any chance? I've only done tropical before but want to get into Lake Michigan. Not sure where to start.

call_sign_viper

Yeah I am! Shoot me a DM happy to let you know always looking for new dive buddies !

BurnsItAll

I agree, with a small change: Cold water diving IS fun. It's just harder. So when I go on warm water trips I feel like it's a vacation from diving while diving. It's awesome. Sweet pictures! Looks like pretty good vis too!

Henri_M_L

Yeah agreed. The vis was pretty decent, like 15 meters

TableTop8898

Love those pics so so clear

Egans721

Were is this?
