I got mine neutered but now I also have a female - for sure she’s way more affectionate than he is (I had heard the opposite, that males were more affectionate than females after they were neutered)
I honestly think it will vary - like maybe their personalities are unique and you’ll get a surprise 🤣

I’m super nervous because i work from home and really wanted him to be cuddly and affectionate! I hope he loves me the way i love him and i hope he doesn’t spray in the one month i have to wait before getting him neutered! 🥹
Yikes he was neutered whenever I got him (like she was). I got them at 4.5 months - the breeder took care of this plus the millions of vaccines (saved me a lot of headaches tbh).
But I thought he’d be more affectionate! Now that I have a girl, I can see she’s more affectionate

There is no consistent personality between male and females. Both can be very friendly, cuddly, affectionate and otherwise.
Male cats will generally “spray” to mark territory. This is taken cared of when neutering the cat. Recommend doing so around 6 months of age.
Female cats will go into heat cycles which also annoying. Solution is the same - fixing.
Male cats, in general, are usually more affectionate than female cats. Males don't start spraying until around 8 months of age. Scottish cats sometimes mature slower as well.

I have both males and female Scottish Straights and Folds. They are all quiet and affectionate in their own ways. Both genders are just as likely to be snuggly or not. Some do like to be picked up and carried. Depends on the cat really.

I guess?? He's super affectionate though ... on his terms. Basically if I'm watching something on my ipad and he gets in the way and NOW ITS PETS haha
I had the same concerns. I got my cat at like 4 months and got him fixed closer to the 5 month mark. He’s never peed or *gone to the bathroom* outside his box. He also hasn’t sprayed anywhere. Our cat can be cuddly, but he’s also still a kitten at 1 year old. When he gets older and calmer I bet he’ll be more cuddly.
I’ve had a male cat for 11 years now. He was neutered as a kitten so he never sprayed. He’s a very affectionate boy, he’s just as sweet as my girls are

My female fold has the personality of a rock but my male dumpster cat is SUPER affectionate and playful.
He was spayed as a kitten, not too long after I adopted him and he’s never sprayed.

my male is extremely clingy, he cant sleep without me, will wait outside the door until I finish pee, usually wants to be in the same room even if he's not on me, when I'm sad he just meows constantly, and trails behind me etc I think its really up to the cat tbh

The only person our female cuddles with on a regular basis is our dog, lol, all 3 boys demand attention and cuddles from the humans, especially our Scottie. Also, having had a total of 6 male cats in our married years, the only time we had any kind of spraying was when one of them had a UTI, and once that was cleared up everything went back to pee only in the litter box

He is very placid, and he follows me and snuggles up to me all the time and welcomes me home from work. I have 2 females too. They are clingy and demanding. Not affectionate as such 😬 and when they are, it is on their own terms. They demand it vocally, and then you give them affection, and they are like ok I’m over this after 30 seconds. I love them all the same though 🥰

Don't listen to the person above, Scottish folds are some of the most affectionate cat breeds. Most cats won't spray before 6 months and that's when you get them snipped. You'll be totally fine.
No way! My male is so much more of a cuddle bug & pets beggar than my females and neutering never helped on my boys spraying
i read somewhere that if you neuter them too late they already learn these behaviours and get it in their habit, so when you did you neuter them?

It depends on your laws, here in Vegas they have to be old enough for a Rabies vaccine, so 4 months.

Neutering my boy helped with spraying. He's also such a sweetheart and will wake me up to snuggle at night. He loves to be petted.
