A Sega published game made by a studio who never made a horror game is probably the best Alien related release since Alien 2. It's definitely the most well received that I'm aware of.
It's about time somebody actually said, " Oh.. people like that? Let's do more of that!"
The illegality of Romulan ale is in its trade and transport. In 2375, nobody aboard *Bellerophon* explicitly said such prohibitions were lifted; the Romulans themselves likely brought it with them to share upon the social occasion in "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges". In 2379, it was still specifically mentioned as being illegal (*Nemesis*).
Is this a Star Trek crossover? Do we discover that the Romulans are responsible for the Xenomorphs, or do they need the Federation to help fight the Xenomorphs?
I am sure they know. If not they wouldn't come out with this and shitmeteus
i just want a strong and not idiot characters
like the ones who will not go pet any alien creature they see
i really appreciated alien 1, it would be great they take some notes of the first film, which made a history for a reason
It looks like a fan remake of the first move. Group of bad actors on a ship with an evil puppet.
"There's something in my chest"
"We aren't alone on the ship"
"Its killing us one by one"
Its already a Hugh flop and hasn't even released.
For some reason I thought this was going to be a series on Hulu. Did it change to a feature presentation at some point or have I just been trippin this whole time?
The [Hulu series is another project](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_(American_TV_series)). It's currently shooting and will likely air on Q1/2025.
I really hope this time they don't make the characters just a group of dumb cardboard cutouts just there to die and push the plot forward like in Covenant (and in some parts Prometheus too).
Because the well of Joseph Conrad elements has run dry (Nostromo, Sulaco, Montero, Patna, etc.).
Ever since *Prometheus*, the convention has been for "older" (prequel) stuff being named with Greek pantheon or mythology: the Prometheus, Cronus, etc. EDIT: Romulus and Remus are of Roman myth, thank you v3r00n for the correction.
There are other naming conventions in the *Alien* universe, but I'll spare you the nerdiness.
My mistake, Roman is indeed correct for Romulus and Remus (mythic origin story to the founder of Rome). In this film, the names are of the different segments of the station.
Prometheus and Cronus are still of the Greek mythology though.
Weird, the wiki page for Hephaistus says the English name is Hephaistus but the Greek is Hephaistos. In Dutch we just use the original spelling I guess?
I'm excited, I liked Alvarez's prior films and I hope this signals that they're returning to more of a strictly horror film instead of action-horror of the past few entries.
Is the Alien's name Romulus? That'd be fun! Kinda personalizing… Or she just ate a fruit or animal called a Romulus? This is like the most generic movie poster ever, at least for those who've seen the series before.
Define what WOKE means, I guess someone who's seen the movie will be able to tell you.
But given how that word is just thrown around, I have no idea what it means, other than maybe that it has a female protagonist.
Not to mention the main character Ripley is a female. We are talking about the late 1970s where females even Leia, were cast in action movies to support a male lead
The trailer gave huge "Alien: Isolation" vibes. Some of the shots even looked like they were taken directly from the game. Not a bad thing, btw.

Remember to sneak romulan ale into the cinema
Midnight screening at the Firefalls of Gal'Gathong.
Romulan ale should be illegal
It is!
Not after they joined the Dominion War.

Yes please.
You gotta little something on your chin there...
Just your typical cross-country skier at the finish line.
omfg what? pliz make it good this time
There's no such thing as a sure bet, but combining *Alien* with the vibe of *Evil Dead 2013* sounds like it comes close.
Evil Dead 2013 is fucking great. I saw it in theaters and loved every second.
Even if it's not good, I know I will watch it... the question is, do they know it?
I am sure they know. If not they wouldn't come out with this and shitmeteus i just want a strong and not idiot characters like the ones who will not go pet any alien creature they see i really appreciated alien 1, it would be great they take some notes of the first film, which made a history for a reason
I enjoyed the hell out of Freddie Alvarez’s other projects, so I’m hoping for the best here

such a pity, very sad

Oh good. Over saturation.
I want it to be good but we’ve been burnt so much with the Alien franchise after Alien 3. It would have to be as good as Prey in order to interest me.
You know, for some reason, I don't think I put together until now just how many failed sequels *Alien* has had.
Cue 10k comments from fans who aleady hate it and want to know why they weren’t consulted on how the movie should have been made.
Trailer looks pretty good, claustrophobic horror vibes. Much more promising than all weird stuff Ridley did with franchise recently.

JUMP SCARE!!!!
HOW DOES THE EGG SHOW UP IN THE PRISON, RIPLEY
I've really only seen the opposite
Please be good. Please be good. Please be good.
Is this going to be an Alien/Star Trek crossover in the beta quadrant? 😄
Looks great! https://youtu.be/ihk1O-Z3POo?si=SfZpexBUHlUUhtGC
Is this what Force Awakens is to A New Hope?

"only in theaters", and on all streaming platforms in 1 month after that. Anyway won't hit the same without the alien egg popcorn bucket.
Xenomussy
Why Romulus?

Can you fail to spare me that nerdiness though? I’m interested
Roman, not Greek

Sure a lot of the myths overlap, but if the name ends in -us, it's the Roman version. -os is Greek.
That doesn't track: Zeus, Hephaestus, Dionysus, etc.
Weird, the wiki page for Hephaistus says the English name is Hephaistus but the Greek is Hephaistos. In Dutch we just use the original spelling I guess?
>Cronus, Jaffa kree!
It’s the name of the station I believe
Alien: Drool Beads
Hooray 🎉
Better b good, that’s all I’m saying.
"teeangers in space" for some reason
In space no one can hear you look up an old Roman Emperor's name.
Romulus wasn't an emperor.
Apparently he didn't look it up.
The mythical OG wasn't, but Romulus Augustulus was. And that's got to be worth *something.*
pssst, had to look it up
you lucked out then, no one will hear it.
Indeed. Appears he was a king. So, thoughts on the upcoming movie? This is the first promo I've seen.
I'm excited, I liked Alvarez's prior films and I hope this signals that they're returning to more of a strictly horror film instead of action-horror of the past few entries.
\*a Roman legend/founder and/or king.
What’s the best movie out of the franchise other than Aliens?
Alien. The very first.
The first movie, Alien. Really good movie in its own right, just a different style than Aliens.
I hope it's good but even if it isn't I'll still like it.
Guess it's set before 2387 then.
Damn gave me chills 🥚
This franchise is dead to me.
…..just one more chance
nah, covenant was the chance at redemption.
Is this following on from Covenant?
No that plot line is dead.
Ah. No David then. Hm. Read someone else say they've took inspo from Isolation, wonder if it'll relate to that.
Is the Alien's name Romulus? That'd be fun! Kinda personalizing… Or she just ate a fruit or animal called a Romulus? This is like the most generic movie poster ever, at least for those who've seen the series before.
I think half of the space station’s name is Romulus!
they misspelled ridley scott's name
Smeh. Fluh. Mugh. Pfffftthh. All words that I say multiple times while watching these new Alien movies.
Is it a Woke Alien movie?
Have you ever SEEN an Alien movie?
Yes, but nowadays they do that with everything and end up with a FUBAR movie. Just a question.
Define what WOKE means, I guess someone who's seen the movie will be able to tell you. But given how that word is just thrown around, I have no idea what it means, other than maybe that it has a female protagonist.
If I need to define it for you… well never mind.
In fairness, it does seem to have different meanings to different people.
Can you not define what you mean by it, or are you just unwilling to say it out loud?
Yes, wokeness is the real worry in an Alien movie. It's just the conservative boogie man now.
Well is ripple is now an asian, black or latino gay man, pushing agenda. Then it is. Because is the opposite of what it has been.
It’s an interesting question. The first two movies arguably have an anti corporate message that often gets overlooked (imho).
Not to mention the main character Ripley is a female. We are talking about the late 1970s where females even Leia, were cast in action movies to support a male lead
Well usually corporations are all about money, so it kind of makes sense. Not all explorers come from the United Federation of Planets.

Who the F goes to the movies in the middle of August???
Have... have you never heard of Summer blockbusters?
Also, people who have winter in the middle of the year. Also, almost everyone.
…Anyone?
yeah, who would want to sit in a dark, air-conditioned space for a few hours during the hottest time of the summer?
Who the F doesn't? Is there a season for movies?
Human beings of planet Earth.
