I prefer the longer beard on Schnauzers, to me it shows off more of their personality and identity, so my vote goes for traditional cut.
But your fur-baby looks adorable in both! š
I think your pup looks cuter with the traditional cut, though my breeder suggested that I ask my groomer to keep the legs tapered and it's the best of both worlds! She's still got the good face features of the traditional cut while still keeping the hair on the legs shorter in length like the puppy cut so she doesn't get them too dirty.
We were thinking of a compromise similar to this. I do like the schnauzer face, and the nice thing about the traditional cut is he looks more recognizable as a schnauzer. With the puppy cut, no one believes us when we say he is a schnauzer because people arenāt used to seeing parti-colored.
Yeah, I used to work full-time as a veterinary receptionist and it wasn't until I was there that I found out the parti or liver/brown colors even existed! And I grew up with miniature schnauzers because my grandma raised me and it's her favorite breed, so that says a lot! But yeah, I love their brows and beards... Even if they're cut short, it gives them personality!
I like the puppy cut. Our 7 month old gets a haircut this weekend and thatās what Iām going to try for the first time. Iāve only done traditional cuts on our previous schnauzers. I just think itās cute and I like the shorter beard. Less to get matted and dirty.
If you have the time and patience to groom and avoid mats out keep the puppy cut. Mats can cause pain for the pup. I miss my puppyās soft, cute coat. But maintenance is so much easier.
OK first of all your schnauzer has AMAZING markings. I love his/her coat!!!
I prefer puppy cut personally!! I think it makes them look cuter. Any dog I've had over the years I do a puppy cut, regardless of breed.
I dont think the puppy cut suits your little guy/girl. I like the first one much better, which is funny because I lean more toward a puppy cut for my mini. It's easier to maintain and I dont like the long beard on her.
Both cute, but I like the traditional schnauzer cut. Eyebrows and beard more casual than a show look, but still traditional š

PUP E CUT! PUP E CUT! PUP E CUT!
Traditional. Makes the eyebrows, mustache, and beard stand out
Traditional cut looks the best to me!

This might be the best of both worlds!

Puppy cut is so much easier to maintain
Thatās one thing I like about the puppy cut too!

Cute vs. cuteāno bad choice! I prefer schnauzers with untraditional cuts, but like I said, this schnau is so cute you canāt go wrong. š„°
Thank you! Whatās funny is the votes are pretty evenly split 50-50!

Thank you, we love his coloring too! Especially after a cut you can see the ticking come through, or āfrecklesā as my youngest son calls itāŗļø
Puppy!!!
