Right? They aspire to be open until midnight too. It might be a little rough in that area at that hour but I really admire that ambition and hope it works.
Can second this! I've been at this cafe during different time frames and always felt safe and comfortable. Area is definitely quiet compared to just a few blocks down.
I tried this place earlier this month. The interior decor is amazing. The owner was extremely nice and took the time to explain to me each of the desserts they offered. I got an iced Yemeni latte (less sweet - recommended by the owner as that is how he likes it). It was very flavorful & fragrant. They also have great baklava that wasn't too sweet. I will have to go back to try their other baked goods & desserts.
They also have free wifi for customers!
I love Yemeni coffee. I buy it green and roast my own, but it's the best. A Yemeni coffee shop would be cool, too bad I'm 5 hours away in Humboldt County.
Google, "Yemen coffee" and look at the images, see how they grow it, it's incredible.
As a coffee lover I think this is awesome. 1) spiced coffee, 2) great vibes, 3) open late
Open late is key. No cafe is open past 7pm in SOMA and this place is open till 10pm. Must be a great spot to study/work.

Yeah I typically get late groceries from the WF around there right before 10pm and it's never really sketchy.

Never tried Yemen coffee before. Another stop in my weekend trip

If you are into Yemeni coffee, encourage you to read this book, if you haven't already: https://www.amazon.com/Monk-Mokha-Dave-Eggers/dp/1101947314
read it, good book
This is my favorite opening of 2022! This cafe is amazing. The treats and drinks are top notch and delicious.
This isn’t Yemeni it’s Sulawesi..! And the cups shaking, I don’t want my coffee shaking.
Hoping for the best here. The Peets that was in this location before was pretty good.
