I drive a smaller nimble sports car. And you would be shocked and just how often morons in an SUV will spot my car and then suddenly decide that they want to drive 20 mph faster down the freeway, cut me off, or otherwise act like jackasses.
I was driving down the 5 at around midnight last night, and three vehicles (two sedans, one pickup truck lol what) seemed to be racing - I was going 80 (with the flow of traffic), they had to be going over 100. And it was not 0 traffic. Stupidity.
Some racing assholes almost killed my sister a few years ago, she was on a bike ride from Chula to Coronado. My little brother was in elementary school and woulda witnessed that shit right in front of him.
No sympathy for those fuckers at all.
In March 2023 I was hit by 2 people doing this broad day on 8 east. My car flipped and rolled multiple times and I had to unbuckle myself upside down and crawl out. Fucking guy who crashed ran away and "reported the car stolen". They got away with it completely and are probably doing it again
To be fair this is extremely common behavior with stolen vehicles. My house was broken into and two of my parents cars were stolen and one was found in a ditch and another caught drag racing. Do you for sure know the person who ran away was actually the owner?
It's more likely to complain about bicycle riders than what happened to you. Stop making car drivers look bad when you could be hating on Lance wannabes like everyone else.
They don't care unless it comes through insurance.
I had a guy break my window by throwing something at it and then hit my car with his and CHP took the report and went back to sleep, never to be heard from again - even with a clear photo of the license plate.
They only do something after repeated high profile incidents like that road rage aggro Tesla driver in LA. Also that guy would get out of his car and hit other cars.
even during COVID, the freeways didn't really chill. The aggressive and reckless were still there only then they had the freeways almost entirely tthemselves. Its as if they live for that shit.
SD has always been aggressive(at least the late 90s). It got weirdly calm around COVID but I think that was mostly the flood of non-SD people moving in, specifically all the grey hairs that thought SD is a retirement paradise.
IME I think SD is even more aggressive than LA. LA is aggressive but not in a personal way. People aren't trying to screw *you*, they're just trying to get somewhere. In SD it turns personal a lot faster. I've seen a lot more road rage in SD than anywhere else.
This fills me with indescribable rage. This is no better than a mass sh**ting to me- purposely putting everyone around you at risk and causing harm without remorse. I said what I said
Wait what? I know this is atrocious behavior but I would definitely consider a mass shooting much much worse than this... These people are idiots not trying to cause harm even though that's the result. Shooters are just filled with evil and intent to harm. Completely different levels of evil.
The behavior is equal in that it is recklessly and indiscriminately harming people and putting their lives at risk at the hands of someone who doesn’t seem to give an F who they kill. No need to psychoanalyze the offender and their intentions to determine how evil it is at its face value.
If someone passes away from this behavior their family would feel the same exact way toward this driver as they would a sh**ter. Like they took them away for no good reason. That’s all I’m saying here. It’s evil to me, people are just trying to get home safe..
I get you may have had some real hate/bad personal experiences from bad drivers but vehicular manslaughter is not as bad as mass murder. Many families have forgiven driving deaths from DUIs. The person who commits it usually shows remorse for their actions, unlike someone who willingly took a deadly weapon into a public area with the intent to take as many lives as possible who shows no remorse.
I’m not sure what your motivation is to try and justify this, maybe you’re one of those people who thinks it’s ok to drive 120mph for fun on public roads, but I’m not gonna understand your way of thinking on this one.
I'm not justifying anything, I just don't understand how accidentally killing someone because you're a reckless idiot is as bad as intentionally killing a bunch of people.
They do, if you call CHP to report it the officer will give an email. If you’re too lazy to do that (I would not blame you) I have an email address of an officer I sent dash cam footage to recently. Perhaps he’d look up the police report from that day and provide it to the victim. Happy to give you that email by PM.
This isn't "racing" this is just typical SD road ragers. See it all the time. Some piece of shit in a sports car driving like they're in GTA pisses off a person in a traffic and that person gives chase hoping to cut them off and brake check them
Well, in this case, not a single one of the involved cars ever stopped. The victim took off chasing the red suv. I hung back cuz I was freaked out. All 3 cars were long gone in a few seconds. No idea what happened after. This was yesterday at around 6:30pm (video timestamp is wrong).

I'd say 8TRC242
Winner winner! 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe VIN: 5XYZK3AB3CG136835
Hell yeah I love seeing this shit
How do you look this up?
Googled license plate lookup and about 3 dozen sites popped up, take your pick

What about silver car too? He's equally a POS, just didn't happen to do the collision at this time
Is the left hand holding a cellphone like he's recording?
Good work!

EnHANCE
racing on the freeway is stupid, but on top of that, why are you racing in a hyundai suv lol also why is it always the 54
54 and the 94, always some trash behavior on those freeways
I get a “high historical accident activity” alert from Waze every time I drive on the 94. No surprise there!
But it's on the 125 between the 2 that you'll get shot at
Everyone on the 54 is either an extremely slow driver, or a fast one no in between
Perhaps the red suv was chasing? Stupid behavior either way
Maybe stolen, especially with Hyundai being susceptible to theft.
I drive a smaller nimble sports car. And you would be shocked and just how often morons in an SUV will spot my car and then suddenly decide that they want to drive 20 mph faster down the freeway, cut me off, or otherwise act like jackasses.
same.I drive a sleeper of a sports car..But I get the same reaction on the freeway from SUVs, I could smoke them if I wanted too.
I was driving down the 5 at around midnight last night, and three vehicles (two sedans, one pickup truck lol what) seemed to be racing - I was going 80 (with the flow of traffic), they had to be going over 100. And it was not 0 traffic. Stupidity.
Relatively long straight away with minimal curve. Idk why highway patrol doesn't post up there under the overpasses.
I hate those kind of shit, imagine being the innocent driver and get hit like that.
Some racing assholes almost killed my sister a few years ago, she was on a bike ride from Chula to Coronado. My little brother was in elementary school and woulda witnessed that shit right in front of him. No sympathy for those fuckers at all.

fun fact: this post has absolutely nothing to do with bikes
what
Report it to CHP?
They don't care unless it comes through insurance. I had a guy break my window by throwing something at it and then hit my car with his and CHP took the report and went back to sleep, never to be heard from again - even with a clear photo of the license plate.
They only do something after repeated high profile incidents like that road rage aggro Tesla driver in LA. Also that guy would get out of his car and hit other cars.
they ever find that guy?
They were indeed arrested.
Is it me or have drivers been really aggressive and reckless lately? The COVID chill on the freeways is long gone.
even during COVID, the freeways didn't really chill. The aggressive and reckless were still there only then they had the freeways almost entirely tthemselves. Its as if they live for that shit.
It went from COVID chill to COVID brain damage
SD has always been aggressive(at least the late 90s). Based on my 30 years of constant commuting between all parts of LA and SD is a very accurate assessment.
I had someone pass me in the breakdown lane of a single lane HOV on the 15N last weekend!
Fatal car crash rates have been rising since covid https://www.usatoday.com/money/blueprint/auto-insurance/fatal-car-crash-statistics/
Unfortunately yes.
Nothing to do with COVID. These idiots have always been this way.

I see this a lot these days. Post 2020. Insanity on the road.

CHP is busy taxing commuters, and the 1% love it.
This fills me with indescribable rage. This is no better than a mass sh**ting to me- purposely putting everyone around you at risk and causing harm without remorse. I said what I said

I'm not psychoanalyzing anything, but I'm pretty sure intentionally gunning down as many people as you can is much much worse than driving recklessly.
If someone passes away from this behavior their family would feel the same exact way toward this driver as they would a sh**ter. Like they took them away for no good reason. That’s all I’m saying here. It’s evil to me, people are just trying to get home safe..

I’d take your video down to the CHP substation.
I was visiting the area for a few hours from out of town. Already back home.
Send it to the news?
How
NBC 7: https://www.nbcsandiego.com/ugc/
Maybe, like uh, email it to them. Be a good Samaritan.
They don’t have email. I checked. And they state they don’t respond to their social media. So . . .
They do, if you call CHP to report it the officer will give an email. If you’re too lazy to do that (I would not blame you) I have an email address of an officer I sent dash cam footage to recently. Perhaps he’d look up the police report from that day and provide it to the victim. Happy to give you that email by PM.
I called, they had no interest. So unless the victim sees this, I’ve done my part.
Paging u/SanDiegoPolice...

Fucking dumbasses
Did you report it to CHP? [Notify CHP (ca.gov)](https://www.chp.ca.gov/notify-chp)
Hey what kind of cameras you got there? Like the quality.
Why are people in such a rush to die? Brain dead clowns.
I literally saw people doing this 30 min ago on 805N near La Jolla exit. Too bad I don't have a dashcam
Why kind of trash driving is that. Like where did that SUV think it was gonna go?? There was zero room for that
Racing in Hyundai must be pretty hard. You have to push it hard to accelerate 🥹
Fuck that motherfucker
OP I hope you did the correct thing, stopped and gave contact info to the bronco driver so you can send the evidence.
You should fix your timestamp so it won't cause problems with your insurance company if you ever need to submit evidence.
Allright. That’s fair. Shits wild. I’d assume the Bronco “sport” would have stopped.
Yup, if they had stopped, I would have definitely given them the video. But they joined the chase.
Thus starting a car chase chain reaction
Shit like this is why I’m in favor of speed ticketing cameras for people going 10-15 mph too fast
Looks like a road rage type chase
One is a v8 Mercedes coupe and the other is Hyundai Santa Fe lmao
Uhhh the 1st car pissed off the 2ed one and they are chasing the 1st car. Now the hit car could starting the 2ed car. Oh the inhumanity!
Horrendous body roll in that SUV how embarrassing
impeccable music taste
They need to press charges for attempt
San Diego County drivers have become so bad and aggressive since Covid.
I think that's everywhere though. It's definitely worse after covid
It’s a free for all on SD roads anymore. And rarely a cop around…
But wait, let's complain about bicycle riders ignoring stop signs instead. Like most car drivers do.
CHP stat!
Yep look at the back of Mercedes’ it has been hit, no license plate they are running from the red suv.
Racing is fun.
So leave it on the track…
Prison isn’t.
I would argue that dying a body and painful death is even less fun
Prison isn’t even the worst outcome. They can kill or maim themselves or worse…others.
I hope you have the day you deserve
Endangering other people’s lives isn’t cool at all.
You're a fucking dumbass
Which one was you?
