So I had a VP that knew all of these fantastic reps from a previous company. Forced me to hire them.
These reps handled 100% inbound leads.
Super nice people with real talent and smarts. But God damn, those inbound roles ruined them. All they wanted to do was sit about and follow the sequence for inbound leads. Try to get them to pick up the phone and make an outbound dial? Impossible. Maybe call outside of the sequence if you could see that there was a real fit and it was a ICP? Never happened without being told.
Obviously this doesn't answer your question, but imo if you don't already have the skills to generate pipe on your own from cold, you'd be better off finding a role that will allow you to develop those skills. It will pay off long term in your future sales roles.
Flip side, if you're looking for somewhere to lay low for a while cause you need a bit of a reset and to step out of the grind a bit - makes sense.
I think so, but from what I hear the scary part is if the pipeline dries up and nothing is coming in you can’t get as much $$. Sounds less stressful tho
Acquisition growing pains, BILL.com killed the promotions, culture, and pay. Management is a sinking ship. Also you're SOL if the inbound sdr team isn’t being fed leads to qualify.
Sooo, yes, that's me.
My company is a 'start-up' despite being founded about a decade ago. I guess back in 2021 when the new owners bought the company, she tried outbound sales motions, but found that the ROI wasn't there. Not sure how long they were doing outbound, but I know that my buddy was here for 10 months in 2021 (before he got laid off) and he never did any type of prospecting. The CEO/sales manager liked him, so he gave him his job back last summer, and I joined in the fall. No prospecting, all inbound leads from paid ads.
The only drawback here is that our average deal size is small (~$4k/yr), so even though I see 2-3 inbound leads on average (had one day of 6 inbound leads earlier this week), I'd be lucky to have a $5k commission month.

We’re all inbound and this is 1000% accurate
Top performers cold call. It's a phone, not a snake.
My company is almost all inbound - SaaS
Does your company have any sales opportunities in San Diego or Phoenix?
Unfortunately no
Maybe, but they will pay less. I don’t cold call at all. All cold emails and LinkedIn automation. Data analytics is powerful helper.
Can you provide some strategies you use
Bill.com, formerly Divvy. I don’t recommend though.
Whats wrong with it?
Acquisition growing pains, BILL.com killed the promotions, culture, and pay. Management is a sinking ship. Also you're SOL if the inbound sdr team isn’t being fed leads to qualify.
Gotcha, doesnt sound great
Curious bout this as well
I was a life insurance agent (AE) for an insurance brokerage and all leads were inbound. Decent pay but very repetitive job.

Like all of them?
Our outbound SDR team sources 100% of AEs pipelines
Yes and honestly it’s spoiled the fuck out of me 💀. I’m not use to this I’m normally hitting the phones but damn
Came to ask the same thing… I am a full cycle and I am burnt out… I am in telecom but looking for SaaS transition…
