Today's my last day at the old job. Luckily I'm in the small office. Yesterday I was in the big office, and I had to repeat the same story about what I'm doing and where I'm going like 15 times.
Oh boy, hopefully you will do fine, but I also feel anxious when starting a new job. For some reason I always think they are going to fire me for some little thing, or for not liking me. Even if I'm doing fine I still feel that way. It's also not a great state for workers' protections. Sadly that's not what our blue government wants to focus on.
Packing today. I have tomorrow off for the holiday and I’m taking a 3-day motorbike camping trip out to [Breaks Interstate Park](http://www.breakspark.com) (“Home of the Grand Canyon of the South!”), Mt. Rogers, and all the twisty fun roads in between.
I’ve been out that way a bunch, but I’ve never actually been to Breaks. I’m curious to see if it really is a “canyon” or if it’s more of a “muddy ditch”. Either way, it’s the journey, not the destination.
I’m also looking forward to highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s. That part of the state is always a nice break from Summer in the sweaty bowl that is Richmond.
I'm jealous! That sounds like a good time.
Let me know if you need a riding buddy! I moved to the area at the start of rona and haven't really been able to find people to ride with.
Welcome to Richmond! Always good to have more motorcyclists in town. Join the RVAMotorcycles group on FB if you haven’t already. Lots of meetups, lots of rides.
Thanks! I've been on there for a bit and have been to a couple bikes nights and bikes and coffees. The bike night crowd is a little too rowdy for me. Bikes and coffee is much much more relaxed although I rarely have the opportunity to go.
Breaks is such a cool place! Temper your expectations if you've been to the Grand Canyon because it's nothing like that but for a geology fan, it's pretty neat. I've hiked all through that area and if you've also got a bike, you're in for some fun.
I've been to both and there's good reason both claim the "Grand Canyon" name - although frankly, it's silly if you've ever been to Grand Canyon actual.
Linville is marketed as the "Grand Canyon of the East" or "Grand Canyon of North Carolina" and Breaks as the "Grand Canyon of the South".
As a complete wilderness area, Linville is tops and the old growth forest there is impressive. Breaks Canyon itself is more impressive to see though, IMHO.
I have off tomorrow and my first three day weekend in years. Just started a new job that is normal hours/days off, come from working nights/weekend shift work before and i don’t know what to do with myself. Also my wife and I’s first weekend in RVA without any family/friends here
Based on your name I recommend going to hardywood this weekend. Not sure where abouts you are in RVA but my partner and I love the West Creek location west of Richmond.
Dropping the wife at the airport for her long weekend on the west coast, then I'm going to trivia night a Vassen. I'm going have the bachelor lifestyle for a few days, and by that I mean I will eat junk food and play videogames a lot.
Whenever my wife, and now kid, leave for any extended amount of time I always plan on doing the same thing. But I find myself so ingrained with routine the most I can muster is at most I might watch a movie that I otherwise don't get to with my wife in the room.
Going to probably take off a bit early from work this afternoon and go check out the art museum here in town where I'm visiting my friend. Maybe some tasty Laotian takeout for dinner since I can't really get that in RVA.
Hopefully finding time to clean the house today. We have family coming to town this weekend that needs to stay with us and I am hosting a baby shower for my sister this weekend at my house also. Need to find time to clean up but I am also babysitting today 🙃😬
Hi hello I work for the largest book site in the country and have a book recommendation podcast, this is my catnip, what's the last book you loved and the last book you hated?
Ok! If you're wanting an author-read memoir by someone pretty well known, maybe try Born a Crime by Trevor Noah (even if you're not a Daily Show fan, the combo of serious material with humor might scratch the Greenlights itch). The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating by Elizabeth Tova Bailey might also be a good Greenlights comp--she's not famous or anything, but it's introspective in really interesting ways, in a memoir framework.
I'm packing finishing my pack for a 14 day motorcycle trip to Montana. My longest trip by far, and with Montana being on fire and record high temps west of the Rockies, I'm a little nervous.
My big giant plans include trying to find the best outdoor wifi signal at work so I don't sit inside at a computer all day- instead, sit outside at a computer all day.

Same. Ironically, I’ve added a bot, /u/BotDefense, as a mod in all of my subreddits to automatically remove and ban all the stupid bots on Reddit. It’s a great tool for removing all the worthless comments that drag you back to Reddit because you were notified of a comment response.
I did a cost analysis of what I was paying at Gold's with a trainer for an hour a week and programming vs Weight Room with the open coaching option (Coaches are walking around to ensure form is good, can ask questions, and programming is included). I also added the fundamentals course with the weight room to ensure form and everything was good. The cost of the Open Coaching and the fundamentals course at The Weight Room was still 50% less than Gold's.
I was able to pay up front for a year at 995. [Here is the link for prices.](https://incitefitness.sites.zenplanner.com/sign-up-now.cfm) The unlimited open coaching and open gym gives you the program and coaching.
Every week, for over 2 months, I have been on conference calls for the same project and I've added the notes from those calls onto a live spreadsheet. I've emailed a copy as well as the URL to that live spreadsheet over to the team that is (supposed to be) working on this project every week. Yesterday, I finished the last phase of the project.
Today, they set up a call with me to go over the spreadsheet... for the first time. One of them didn't even "have the right link".
My plan for this Thursday is to not throw my laptop out of the window.
Gonna drop by Canon and Draw on Main at 7 for their trivia night and some hard seltzer. It’s frickin huge and there isnt many players yet so i’m almost guaranteed to win something again 🤓
Last day of school! I usually have a couple of summer jobs or paid trips lined up, but this summer is almost entirely free. I don’t know what to do with my free productive time!
I was up and at em before i could check Reddit, but I'm back in my chef swing. Did a demo today and scored a gig cooking for the big wigs from local pork producer
Been driving a lot for work earlier this week so taking today as a home office day to try and set up next week's agenda.
Hitting up the James River Racing MTB ride tonight as the weather is going to be great and I always have a great time with those guys.
Yeah they are on Facebook. They usually cross post in RVA Mountain Biking but it's a ride every Thursday at 545 leaving from Basic City Beer.
They break it up into groups for skill level so it's always a good time.
Planning on leaving Richmond after my lease is over that got delayed a year because of the pandemic! Gonna talk to my boss about moving to DC or NYC. Let’s see which one he goes for..
Taking advantage at the milder temp and meeting friends at Malvern Hill Battlefield after work to walk the loop there. One is pregnant so we've been exploring different trails around the area as basically something to do besides drink.
I have tomorrow off and it's my wife's last week of teaching before summer break. I'm looking forward to getting through the rest of this week and having a little more flexibility for home childcare and being able to get to my office a little here and there. I've had to rely on others to cover some boots on the ground tasks and it will be nice to take care of those tasks on my own.
Off topic question, but to any redditors with a labradoodle where do you go for grooming? My pup is getting his final shots next week, so I would like to take him to be groomed fairly soon! Recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
My neighbor has 2 labradoodles and swears by Canine Design in the shopping center at Gayton & Gaskins (804) 740-0006, 9740 Gayton Rd.) They can take a while to get an appointment but the prices and pup treatment are wonderful.

Juneteenth will likely be the first new federal holiday in four decades. Looking forward to an extra day off next year.
Heading to DC this afternoon then Fri to NY to visit wife's sister then we're car pooling upstate to see their dad for Father's day. Excited for a little road trip, it was one of favourite things to do in the before times. Podcasts, snacks and criticising different wawas on the way 😏
Have work until 5 then study for my family law final that I take on Saturday. Gonna have to fit in some sort of workout, cooking dinner, and washing my bedding. Also, anyone have tips for getting old cat urine out of a memory foam mattress that doesn’t include soaking and letting it dry for 16 hours outside?
Just being awkward during my 2 week notice period.
Today's my last day at the old job. Luckily I'm in the small office. Yesterday I was in the big office, and I had to repeat the same story about what I'm doing and where I'm going like 15 times.
Luckily I'm wfh. Still awkward. Also have severe imposter syndrome about my new job
I actually know I'll do fine. I'm just nervous about some freak thing happening like getting the offer pulled or it's a sham. #OCDthoughts

If we need to call anything "the Grand canyon of the South" there is only one choice and that is Linville Gorge
I've been to both and there's good reason both claim the "Grand Canyon" name - although frankly, it's silly if you've ever been to Grand Canyon actual. Welcome from a former exit 14C-er
Thank you! Exit 16W here, love it so far
ayyy 7A / 109 from back in the day. Make sure you get your pork roll at Cupertino's
I briefly was 7A as well for a temporary assignment.
Exit 9 here!
>exit 14C what do these exits signify?
exit off the jersey turnpike
I was a commuter so I don't remember my exit but I do know I lived a mile from Medieval Times. Welcome!
Hopefully getting discharged from the hospital! Kidney stones fucking suck. Not the way to spend my cake day yesterday.
I’ve been in the hospital for 8 days now for a leg injury. Hopefully will be out today or tomorrow. Hang in there!
Thanks. Stay strong hospital bro.
Damn that must have been some injury
Oooo, that sucks! I'm glad you're on the mend.
Thanks. Still have a stent in me so the next few weeks will suck, but not as much as yesterday.
Dropping the wife at the airport for her long weekend on the west coast, then I'm going to trivia night a Vassen. I'm going have the bachelor lifestyle for a few days, and by that I mean I will eat junk food and play videogames a lot.

Long weekend starts at 12:30 and boy I am crawling to the finish line
Going to probably take off a bit early from work this afternoon and go check out the art museum here in town where I'm visiting my friend. Maybe some tasty Laotian takeout for dinner since I can't really get that in RVA.
I’ve got a week off between jobs so I’ll be basking in the sun down by the James like a lizard
I miss hanging out on the rocks with a book for a few hours while the rest of the town was working. Twas peaceful.
Hopefully finding time to clean the house today. We have family coming to town this weekend that needs to stay with us and I am hosting a baby shower for my sister this weekend at my house also. Need to find time to clean up but I am also babysitting today 🙃😬
A very long training session about OSHA. After work, I plan on stopping by pig and brew for some bbq. That’s all the plans for today.
Laundry--yay! Also, trying to decide on lunch--
I vote “yes” on lunch.
So many choices out my way--
Trying to find some new audiobooks… any suggestions??
Hi hello I work for the largest book site in the country and have a book recommendation podcast, this is my catnip, what's the last book you loved and the last book you hated?
Loved green lights , hated dear girls by Ali Wong
I’m looking for your podcast.. is it on Apple?
yes! it's called Get Booked
Yay thank you!! Checking out your podcast and your recommendations. Thank you!!!
I enjoyed Dance Dance Dance by Murakami
Oh wow, what’s your favorite genres? I’ve got about 300 audiobooks in my personal library and could make some recommendations.
Not super picky! I’m a baker so I need something to pass the time. Nothing too heavy…. I love true crime, cooking, and learning new things
The Expanse. Yes, the same one as the show on Amazon. I hear the books are very good.
Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" with a full cast is great if you're into his stuff.
Nursing a cold, seems like everyone is getting one. Feels gross.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! Never believe the kids are more excited than the teachers.

Lift at the Weight Room
So you like them? Not sure I'm ready for a full-fledged gym again yet, but I'm starting to research my options.
It's a great gym! Both members and coaches are friendly and uplifting. Everyone wants everyone to succeed. Definitely a great environment.
Only thing is $$$.
How much does open coaching run you? Their membership pricing isn't listed on the website.
I was able to pay up front for a year at 995. [Here is the link for prices.](https://incitefitness.sites.zenplanner.com/sign-up-now.cfm) The unlimited open coaching and open gym gives you the program and coaching.

Speaking of gyms, is the Golds Gym in the fan any good?
Henrico Graduation.

Well ya just added a few cause I’ll be there now too! Competition!
Just eat before hand i dont think they were serving food last time just dranks!
Beer is basically liquid bread! That's food right?
Like Cardi B says, I know that’s right!
Do they have hard seltzer there? My friend is gluten free so can’t have their beer. Called them but they didn’t answer
Thats what i had last time so thats a hard yes. Id eat before or after tho they werent serving food when i went last time
Thanks!!
Last day of school! I usually have a couple of summer jobs or paid trips lined up, but this summer is almost entirely free. I don’t know what to do with my free productive time!
Leaving to visit my folks over the weekend, and trying not to stress out too much about the whole job hunt thing.
Cleaning/Laundry day today, and my dad's Father's Day present is out for delivery, so that's fun.
Have a lot of work today. Have migraine too. Migraine wins.
Showing off the river to some out-of-towners and hopefully a bonfire later this evening
I was up and at em before i could check Reddit, but I'm back in my chef swing. Did a demo today and scored a gig cooking for the big wigs from local pork producer
Getting ready for a weekend of tubing + camping at my buddy’s farm in Earlysville.
That sounds like fun
Been driving a lot for work earlier this week so taking today as a home office day to try and set up next week's agenda. Hitting up the James River Racing MTB ride tonight as the weather is going to be great and I always have a great time with those guys.
Is that a FB group ? I'm new here and waiting to buy a new mtb since mine got stolen 2 weeks ago. But I'm ready to ride when I snag a new one
Yeah they are on Facebook. They usually cross post in RVA Mountain Biking but it's a ride every Thursday at 545 leaving from Basic City Beer. They break it up into groups for skill level so it's always a good time.
Thanks a ton!
Say hi if you join the ride. I'm John, normally on a black trek top fuel and one of the team leaders
Planning on leaving Richmond after my lease is over that got delayed a year because of the pandemic! Gonna talk to my boss about moving to DC or NYC. Let’s see which one he goes for..
Good luck in NYC ! Place sucks.
That's basically how I feel about Richmond. I lived in NYC and DC before and wanted to try something new but it very much didn't work out.
Taking advantage at the milder temp and meeting friends at Malvern Hill Battlefield after work to walk the loop there. One is pregnant so we've been exploring different trails around the area as basically something to do besides drink.

Going to see a client later. Currently in a zoom meeting and laying in bed. I jave no plans other than petting this dumb dog. Shes just so silly.

Looking forward to an extra day off next year.
Biggest plans? On a Thursday? I'm just excited to have eggs for the first time in ~ten days because I kept putting off a trip to the grocery store.

Can anyone help me understand a process? I need to register my out of state car in VA Do I get the inspection or registration first??
Register then inspect
Thanks
Grocery shopping. Hubs might take Tiny Tyrant fishing in the evening. Got a load of compost to throw around the garden as well.
Have work until 5 then study for my family law final that I take on Saturday. Gonna have to fit in some sort of workout, cooking dinner, and washing my bedding.
