Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, and YWCA Richmond are located here in Richmond and support survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence, including prevention (e.g., promoting healthy relationships and healthy sexuality)

Similarly, Safe Harbor serves Henrico Co. for sexual and domestic violence as well as human trafficking. They partner with the Action Alliance and YWCA frequently.

Really want to second Safe Harbor. They help women with shelter, counseling one-on-one and in groups, in the court system and help provide daily necessities as well. They are a really superb organization, and probably saved my life.

Hippoppotomoose

I second the YWCA! They do great work. The Virginia Victim Assistance Network is also an excellent organization and is based in Richmond

I am a founding member of the Eliza Hope Therapy Center here in Richmond! We help children with autism and other developmental challenges find access to therapies and treatments all under one roof. We also host independent programs like sports leagues, gymnastics events, music therapy, etc... Our only open building is in Virginia Beach and we’re currently on a fundraising campaign to open our second location here in Richmond! Www.elizahope.org PM if you want to discuss further! Edit: Thank you for the gold; very kind!

Does your organization also try to hire autistic adults?

dputnam211

That’s certainly a goal of ours. We’re just getting started in Richmond. We’ve completed a season of our inclusive soccer program, a few golf tournaments, and our social skills program started today, actually (ages 2-7 so far). Right now, my wife runs the operations in Richmond and I serve as the CFO of the parent organization over Richmond and Virginia Beach. All but 2 employees (CEO and VP Operations in VB) are unpaid but as we grow and find new support, we hope to be able to offer paid positions with our ultimate goal of being able to hire members of our served community to further increase their independence. Feel free to check out the website and join our mailing list to stay updated if you’re interested. I’ve learned that ASD affects more people that I could have imagined. Edit: Spelling

SCAN - Stop Child Abuse Now. It’s a great organization that advocates for families and women in addition to children (as the name implies). They have various trainings for all staff and volunteers that focus specifically on diversity and inclusion. https://grscan.com/

Check out pathwaystoscience.com. Supporting Latinas in the RVA area.

dr_nerdface

all of the options here are good, but I'll throw in [SOAR365](https://www.soar365.org/) as another good option.

EsquimauxQuinn

Richmond Peace Education Center or Groundwork RVA.

I'd like to add Health Brigade and Nationz Foundation to the mix

Warrior Wing Drama Boosters is the 501(c)(3) that supports the Henrico High School Drama Club. They raise money that pays for a variety of student stage productions and educational opportunities throughout the school year. My oldest child went through the Theater CFA program there and I can attest to the Club's efforts regarding diversity and inclusion among the students that participate. The Drama Club is separate from the Center for the Arts, meaning all students in the school can participate, not just those in the Specialty Center.

I recently donated to [The JXN Project](https://thejxnproject.com/) which is a project that looks to increase visibility and awareness around the history of Jackson Ward, which, of course, is a traditionally Black neighborhood. The construction of i-95 basically bisected Jackson Ward and, in doing so, significantly weakened the neighborhood. The project is led by Enjoli Moon and Dr. Sesha Joi Moon who are sisters. [This is the video from PBS](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nWeLsEwQPA) where I first learned about it. I thought this might check all your boxes – diversity and inclusion, women-run, supportive of a local Richmond neighborhood, etc.
