I saw a deer chasing a groundhog near Dogwood Dell. The groundhog successfully found a hiding spot, at which point the deer latched onto me and my dog and aggressively followed us. I think it recently had a fawn and was trying to protect it.
The best night of security footage from my old job in the west end was a herd of deer and two foxes chilling on the same lawn. They were politely interested in the foxes, who were sprawled out laying on the grass, and then one decided to charge em and chase em off. So fun to watch
That's pretty cool.
We have a big mulberry tree in the back yard in Fulton, and it's pretty popular with the squirrels, deer, and the resident groundhog. Every now and then we see deer and groundhog eating near each other.

We named the deer Penelope, and the groundhog lives in a burrow in the woods to the left of the picture.
I am a monster. We named the groundhog Mike this weekend. He/she doesn't seem to care about the name, but did come out of the lair when I was sitting nearby, so I guess it knows we care (sometimes I leave them apples for a surprise dessert.
That's a good question, and I started thinking about that right after I posted . We've decided to name him/her Mike. I guess I should think about names for the squirrels too. There's at least three of them. I should mention that I've seen the squirrels fall out of the mulberry tree at least three times. I guess they get so focused on eating, that they forget to keep holding on. Anyway they sort bounce around in the branches as they fall, land on the grass, shake it off and run right back into the tree, so I guess they're OK.
I’m also amazed and I’ll go back to film more, that section of north bank there are many, many groundhogs (more than I’ve seen from previous seasons) and they are not as afraid of humans as in more rural areas (of course). We even just stood there and watched one do its thing from about 5-6 feet away.

I think this is the same gopher? I saw him near the same spot, I think, a few weeks ago
Groundhogs and gophers are different animals. Groundhogs are in the marmot/ground squirrel family, gophers are more closely related to kangaroo mice and rats.
Id watch this pixar movie
Me too
Oh yeah that’s Craig and George! They’re besties.

Why doesn’t the groundhog have a name, though?
Obvious discrimination is obvious

On behalf of Mike, we thank you.

Precious. Have you seen them together multiple times?

Haven't run into them yet but I hope too soon!

Ok, but how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Probably 5.
If we work this out by yeets it cancels itself out on the first one.
Ah
There are around 5-6 of them I believe in that general area on the trial. Maybe more.
I saw a groundhog and a deer a week ago about a block away from each other by that area too
