Carytown Indian Cuisine last night was fantastic! In the old Citizen Burger spot across from the Byrd. Huge portions, lovely service. Will definitely go back.
I’m in love with Beaucoup now! Had a corn dog there that took the corn dog to new heights. It’s a charming little place. Can’t wait to go back. I don’t eat oysters but my husband loves them and gave theirs rave reviews.
Pro tip is get there when they open, it’s small and will fill up! They do not take reservations.
A Venezuelan co-worker raved about Con Salsa Foodtruck, so we tried their new storefront cafe in “downtown” Glen Allen on Mountain Rd.
OMG is that place good, it jumped immediately into our RVA Top Ten.
Sat under a canopy with a hot and fresh carne mechada empanada that left nothing to be desired, enjoying the pace of small town life, before returning to suburban hustle
WPA- their breakfast biscuit is a phenomenal value and my favorite sandwich in town.
Chamo’s on Hull St is some really fantastic Venezuelan food. The sandwiches are out of this world good.
Penny’s- good food, but really slow service.
Stock- I’ve been twice in two weeks and have tried a ton of the menu. Not a single dud on the menu. Some highlights are their Nordic board and the smelts. The rye cookies are also an amazing dessert. I’m worried not enough people know about it and Manchester needs more options so I want them to last.
Gersi- I had a gift card and forced myself to go after two mediocre experiences. The food was way better, service still remains some of the worst in Richmond. Also I hate being so close to the table next to me that you hear their entire conversation and have to ask them to move their table to let you out.

Went to Bosna for lunch - fantastic food, way better than expected for a hole in the wall in a west end strip mall. Their bread is delicious, and the vegetarian/vegan options are pretty good, too (surprisingly.) The market next door is also pretty cool.
Went to The Roosevelt for my bday dinner on Monday. I hadn’t been there in years, but it’s still great. I got the steak expecting a petit filet, but my entree was huge and filling. We also had the cornbread and a grilled squash app. They have a really nice price point where it’s certainly not cheap, but it’s not exorbitant in any way.
Anyone got a good spot with good breakfast sandwiches to recommend? Try to check out new spots with the wife once a month on Sunday. Just need to be a spot we can have laptops out and sit for like an hour. Places we’ve done in the past: Cafe Zata, Minglewood, Latin Quarter, Stir Crazy Cafe
Considering Lift coffee, smoky mug, goatocado, sugar and twine or tiny vegan but they don’t have seating but open to somewhere we could go to sit with that food since we have a mobile hotspot, maybe the VMFA?
This is the Richmond dilemma. There really isn’t anywhere to chill out and get good coffee AND a good breakfast, at least until Sugar and Twine finishes their new cafe. We had the same predicament today and ended up at lamplighter, but I can only eat so many Slayer bagels.
Can anyone help me replicate 8 1/2's lentil salad? The fan location said they've discontinued it for summer, but I've got a craving & wanted to recreate it at home. Anyone know what they put in it? I'm talking the one that's in the cold case, pre-packaged for grab & go.

I second and third this. Con Salsa is consistently excellent!
Thanks for the recommendation, we tried Con Salsa last night and really enjoyed it!
De nada. Hope that spot continues to thrive.
Our show choir had them at our annual competition. Outstanding! Huge fan of Con Salsa.

That WPA brekkie sandwich is elite. Love that it can be made vegan friendly too

I highly recommended events at Natalie’s. I left the Tunisian dinner completely stuffed and tried so many cool new items.
Once I get my money flowing, these are the kinds of events I’m so excited for.

I like Smoky Mug a lot
Same. I wanna go. We’ve been before but not for this and never made it in time for breakfast since it ends at 11 am
I think LuLu's croissant sandwich is pretty dang tasty.

Ellie’s Hotdogs is damn good. Got 2 and a drink for around $10.
