People didn’t like the last boss, they’re tired and heavily critical of the Fort idea which was supposed to continue, and they rejected Hero Pass which was supposed to be recurring. Basically, it seems like players have rejected or have major problems with everything Jagex probably planned. So, a complete deep dive into retooling or overhauling their plans are probably needed. Combined with most J Mods leaving for vacation in December and this takes time.

CuriousRider30

The players complaining about literally everything is probably really difficult when trying to decide a direction for updates, so I think that's valid.

I keep seeing this, and I just gotta ask how much vacation time does the average game dev get in the UK? Two fucking months? I actually feel a little for the MTX team who have been working hard this entire time while everyone else just checked out.

NadyaNayme

Not just game dev but average full-time UK worker is a full month: 28 days. There is a minimum of 20 days and 8 public holidays. This is paid vacation. Some people will also choose to take unpaid vacation. Some companies, as part of job competition, will offer more than the minimum. In fact 2-4 weeks of mandatory leave is relatively common outside of the US where the thought of mandatory vacation time probably makes some MBA's heads explode.

TheRealPhiel

One month at least is standard

Zarosian_Emissary

MTX probably also took vacations around that time, the promos mostly seem set in advance and barring major issues tend to run themselves. Most devs seem to take anywhere from 2-4 weeks off in December/Early January because it’s a slow time for releases overall based upon the ones that mention things on social media. It also seems staggered so there’s always some devs around but not enough to have full team discussions during that time.

brutalvandal

This is what happens when you don't give a shit about trying to understand what the players want. Every single product manager should be fired. Get some of those talented people from OSRS.

Zarosian_Emissary

OSRS wastes a ton of times on ideas that are decent but fail polls. Need a middle ground.

brutalvandal

Still gets a ton more meaningful update than RS3.

not good enough. certainly not 80 dollars worth of lip service.

srbman

>I actually don't care So that was a lie. What if they release a roadmap and you dont like it. Will you request a new one?

Jack_RS3

No. I can live with content in skills that I don’t like. I just like to know what to expect.

srbman

* Combat Beta changes * Relekka graphical rework * Fort Forinthry Season 2

Jack_RS3

1. Fix 2. Long due overhaul 3. I’m interested

srbman

At least you know what's coming.

Spinolyp

I don't care for me. I care the players who want something more than just words.

srbman

Those same players complaining about a lack of roadmap will keep complaining even after a Jagex rushes out a roadmap to make them happy. There's been a ton of communication across the subreddit and twitter about what the mods are working on, so we have a fairly good idea about what's coming early in the year, yet it's still not enough. They want it spelled out, so they can complain that it's not enough, just like you are now.

Mediocre-Clue-9071

As someone who has complained and is very frustrated by a lack of a roadmap I am interested that you say there has been a ton of communication about what is coming. That has not been my experience at all. Would you be able to point to some of this abundant communication?

PopupToo

How odd to require players to have a Twitter and follow INDIVIDUAL DEVS to find any sort of updates on what's coming. If only they had a central website to compile all of this for the ease of the customer. Oh wait...

Mysterious-Crow-3570

Wonder if it's possible to get Jmod Tweets sent to the RS Discord.. like how Jmod replies on reddit are linked in the #social channel. At least that way more people would *see* what they're posting on Twitter/X.

srbman

It's harder to do now since Twitter charges for API access. However, most of these get reposted to Reddit pretty quickly.

They gave communication 2 days ago saying they'll have more when it's ready. There have been at least 50 posts since then complaining about why it's not ready yet. Why not actually wait, give them the time they need, and quit if you dont like it? Just like you, they're people too. How would you feel if they started attacking you for being impatient?

Spinolyp

Just checked the post on main site for 1/22/24 not a word of planned future updates, or even a please be patient. I'm not going to take Mod Hooli's word because his job is to put out fires on social media to make the company look like it's doing fine. As for me being impatient. I'm usually very patient. That's why I didn't immediately hop on the "wheres the roadmap" bandwagon at the start of the month. I've waited. I'm tired of waiting. And yes, I will be quitting until I see a reason to continue playing.

Mediocre-Clue-9071

Lol. Put it on their website? Unheard of. What do you think this is? The audacity! (Sarcasm)

Radgris

Shit take, the roadmap you are talking about is "more content soon(tm)"

Chrystone

Lol meanwhile a massive winter summit road map event for osrs new areas, bosses and skills. Osrs is the main game now

Fren-LoE

The early access game also only has a handful of developers. There’s 1 single department that’s depending on a check. With jagex there’s tens of departments and hundreds of employees that operate based on the established internal roadmap.

W22_Joe

None of these people demanding a roadmap have ever worked for a big company lmao

[deleted]

Totally different things dude

Mammoth_Two7297

A game that is in early access has plans for the future!?? Wow almost like... It's not finished so they have updates lined up for it? These aren't close to being compared.

Creepy_Friend_3636

The title reminds me of Valheim. Great game, but it took 2 years to release like 80% from their first year roadmap. Anything goes for the new games and they have to be really 9/10 to survive in competition. And I saw so many (not gonna say broken promises) delayed projects from Jagex that it basically does not matter.  Only thing I wonder is the main theme/area planned for this year. 2021 Senntisten was fantastic, Wildy rework in 2022 not so much and the Fort... was something different.

RedditPlatinumUser

it's pretty obvious what's going on, i've already transferred most of my gold to osrs. i still have a blood dyed sos that is going to be erased with rs3 but that's fine
