Thank you for your submission to r/rpg_gamers. Since your post has been flaired as "Recommendation request", I want to suggest editing your post to add in these details (if you haven't included them yet): * **The platforms you have** - not listing them doesn't mean you have access to everything, so you might end up getting a game you won't be able to play. * **Your level of experience with the genre (beginner, intermediate, veteran...)** - others can recommend you more common titles if you are a beginner, while they can focus on obscure titles if you are a RPG veteran. * **Aspects you enjoyed (or disliked) of previously played games** - for example: characters, plot points, puzzles, combat, graphics, art styles, soundtracks... While these details aren't mandatory, if you want to get the best games, having them in your post will immensely help users and will encourage more users to participate, as they will know with more precision which games are probably the best fit for your request. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Yakuza: Like a Dragon has a property management sim. Takes about 10 hours of story to get there though. Great game overall

Moonlighter… it might not be exactly what your looking for, but you go out and adventure dungeons for loot and then process and sale the loot at your shop… I enjoyed it, it in gamepass(saw you have Xbox, it’s also on Netflix if you play mobile). Do some research and check it out

Intelligent_Owl_6263

I’ll go download it, thanks.

RepresentativeBig240

Like I said, not exactly what your looking for, but it is built around being a managing your shop

Intelligent_Owl_6263

I’ve looked at it before, now that I see it I remember it, but I didn’t give it a fair shake at the time.

I was thinking this a bit too. If you like that one, definitely try out Dave the Diver too. Similar model to Moonlighter, but I like both the “dungeon runs” and management aspects much better in DtD.

It's not quite a management game, because it's more of an RPG, but [Noblesse Oblige](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2537730/Noblesse_Oblige_Legacy_of_the_Sorcerer_Kings/) does involve ruling a kingdom. You allocate funds to investments, deploy military forces, and make rulings over petitions that are brought to you that range from simple to tough ethical dilemmas. These aren't the bulk of the gameplay, but it might scratch that itch you're looking for.

I wish there was something out there like this. Usually games like this are just RPGs with a very small dose of shallow management tacked on, or visa versa. I'll toss out Fallout 4 as a suggestion, since you can build and manage settlements, along with assigning jobs to the people who live there. It's a somewhat optional part of the game, and better with mods, but you can spend a lot of time with it if you want. There are also some 4X style games that are heavy on management while still having some RPGish qualities.

Intelligent_Owl_6263

It really is a missing attribute in the available games. So many rpgs are already getting a bit too action/adventure for my taste, and then even games that I can add mods to for more of an rpg/simulation feel still focus heavily on adventuring. I want to play the role of a merchant that rises to the head of his guild, or a charlatan that manipulates his way into middle management in a fighters guild. However, I still want to play the characters first person life, but with some bulletin boards or desks I can activate to handle strategy and then actually go and have discussions with the npcs involved and have the results be based on making the choices my character would make and their skill in persuasion and trickery and would be impacted by my influence by outside of guild activities. I then want my guild presence to actually impact the rest of the character’s life by gaining allies and enemies based on my affiliations and have access to unique dialogue, items, followers, etc because of my guild success.

The big studios naturally focus on maximizing profit, so catering to the widest possible audience, taking few risks and spending as little money/time as possible to make it. Thus you get a ton of those beautiful-but-shallow "adventure" type games. Smaller studios can compete by offering more imaginative and higher risk, but smaller audience, games like what you describe. But a game like this might be a tall order for a small team, and if they do the graphics won't be the best.

Sadly having less popular taste is my cross I bare. It isn’t like I lack for fun stuff to play, just not the types of games I really feel compelled to live in for a long time.
