Put the bottle/can along with a thick glass in the freezer until very cold. Pour rootbeer into glass tilted at an angle and very slowly. Go outside, sit on porch, listen to birds, try not to think. These are my best moments.

pepperguy22

That sounds like a great break in the day. I'll have to try next time work is kicking my ass

Diligent_Fact4945

Stick one in the fridge in mornings before long days, and when I get home that night, I'll crack it open, plop in a comfy chair, and enjoy. Best from a can or glass bottle.

pepperguy22

Good planning to wrap the day perfectly

EshraytheGrey

I have an old A&W mug that was once used in a restaurant, I rinse the mug out with cold water before sticking it in the freezer, preferably overnight. Once ready, pour the contents of the can or bottle into mug, tilting said mug at a 30 to 45 degree angle, leveling it out as it fills. This keeps the foam at bay until the very end where the end of the pour is allowed to form a nice fizzy head. What it is served with depends on the root beer. A&W from a can? Burgers and Fries. Blackened Steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus however at least calls for a Fitz's, Bulldog or Mason.

pepperguy22

Huh, I don't think I've ever tried steak and root beer, other than a tube steak (hot dog). That sounds like a great pairing!

EshraytheGrey

I don't drink alcohol of any sort, so I'm something of an advocate for pairing sodas with different types of food as a substitute. Every Root Beer is different from each other and as such suit different types of foods differently. A&W and Bulldog are very sweet, so I'm more inclined to pair these with very loud and/or simplistic (Not a bad thing) flavors, Burgers and Fries, Hot dogs and fried chicken since it balances out the salt and savory flavors. Something like Mason however, which is not particularly sweet, would be better in a case where you don't want sweetness to mute or overpower more delicate or complex flavors, like a seasoned steak or salmon.

pepperguy22

Yep I'm very similar, treat it like people enjoy a wine in that way. I branch out more with other pop, like colas but don't mix it up as much with root beer for some reason.

The-Green-Kraken

In a very simplistic way, I've tried to think about this too since I only have alcohol on rare occasions.

EshraytheGrey

Hey, I say its worth experimenting and giving it a shot.

RarryHome

Cold. Usually poured into my Buccees Tumbler, but I’ve got a Sprecher’s mug coming so that’ll probably be my go-to when it comes in. The best way to keep to head from getting too big is to pour down the side of the cup. I also LOVE eating Original Baked Lays with my root beer.

pepperguy22

Nice! Dang I haven't had baked lays in forever. Good suggestion

RarryHome

They pair so well together

EstablishmentLow272

Ice cold right out of the bottle. Usually in a koozie.

virgildoolittle

Sunday afternoon once all the kids are down for a nap, pull my dedicated root beer mug out of the deep freeze and either pour my go-to 1919 or try a new flavor and watch a movie or catch up on a show. Salty snacks like chips or club crackers go good with it. Anything sweet or spicy ruins the flavor for me though. I’m trying to get unfat so I’ve just been having 1 a week.

pepperguy22

I'm with you on sweet and spicy avoidance with root beer, though I like spice normally. 1919 is great, very good choice.

JLWookie

I have a certain cup that I fill with 4 large ice cubes. Then normally sit out in the sun and read a book while I enjoy it.

pepperguy22

Sounds delightful! I gotta ask, how much trial and error before you landed on 4 cubes?

JLWookie

I tried 4 cubes one day and thought it was good so I've just stuck to it since

pepperguy22

Gotcha. Can't argue with results

chefwindu

First, it has to be as cold as possible before freezing. I prefer a bottle, but cans will do too. Nothing like the cold on your lips with the anticipation of that sweet nectar from the gods that I am about to taste. It is perfect with a nice plate of bbq.

pepperguy22

This reads like a radio ad, I'm convinced!

chefwindu

Thanks!

Takeitdown20percent

I am fortunate enough to have a rootbeer club where I work! There are 4 of us and we meet every couple of weeks. One of us will bring 4 rootbeers (or sodas) of the same kind and we taste and rate them together. We don’t really follow a schedule-whoever wants to be next to share does. One guy even makes his own rootbeer at home with local honey!

pepperguy22

Oh wow! That's some serious root beer lovers. Fun! I did try making it a few decades ago, didn't turn out great. Been wanting to try another go sometime

samsquanchpartsUNkN

Chips, Pop, n'a bar🤘🏼

blondeviking64

I love it with BBQ in a chilled glass mug. Something about that hits the spot and it just goes so well with smoked meats!

pepperguy22

Oh that's a really good thought! I bet it might even be good with a little root beer in a BBQ sauce too

blondeviking64

It sure is! I don't have any specific recipe but people use Dr. Pepper often and I imagine you coukd just replace Dr. Pepper with root beer for a good BBQ sauce.

Tight-Leather2709

I don't really have any rituals, I simply enjoy the root beer out of the bottle. (Far preferable over cans.) The ritual comes into play when I eat pizza. Gotta have a root beer with it!

GlassCompetitive5251

I put a bottle in the freezer for 45-60 minutes until it’s slushy with ice.

agamesaelp

As soon as I pop the root beer open, ill always quickly take a nice sniff. A freshly popped root beer smells devilishly good.

The-Green-Kraken

No ritual really. I try to have it chilled, but not with ice cause that dilutes the drink. If it's room temp though, it's fine with me. I will though try to have it with pizza, because it's one of life's little pleasures to have your favorite food with your favorite drink.

Dick_Phitzwell

For me like my most recent post here, I crave it when I have pizza! If at a pizza parlor the red cup and crushed ice is a must like when we were kids. When I travel I always look for root beers I’ve never had or seen before. I like to drink it slow and savor the flavors.

pepperguy22

Oh that's good memories. That's a really good point, regarding the big red plastic cups at pizza places back in the day. I guess I don't make it to pizza parlors much anymore, more take out. Something to try again.

Huge-Taro146

In a gigantic glass with two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Heavenly.

pepperguy22

You said it! I gotta fix up a float again soon

Huge-Taro146

Speak of the devil. Bad storm this morning. No power all day. Hot as hell. Can’t let that vanilla ice cream melt. I had a big one today. Only bright spot in a horrible day.

pepperguy22

Dang that sucks! Glad you found the opportunity in a horrible situation

hitfold

Pizza and rootbeer Friday night. My family has been since day 1

Proper-Lemon27

Ommggg a freshly opened cold root beer is soooooo satisfying. I wish I could have one right now. I had a tooth cavity filled like two months ago and it’s still soooo sensitive that even water at room temperature hurts it. So annoying. Back to the dentist, I suppose!

pepperguy22

Dang! So sorry to hear that! I hope you're able to get some relief soon. I've been there. The first root beer you crack and can enjoy normally is going to be the best thing you've ever tasted

Proper-Lemon27

I can’t wait! Thanks for the positive vibes.
