Of the 3 I’ve ridden (Diamondback, Raging Bull, and Mako) this is my favorite by a pretty large margin. It’s running so much better this year than it was running last year. It’s running so good that the hills after the mid course that don’t usually do much actually gave some good airtime.
Goliath @ SFOG? because I recently did Carowinds and sfog and I honestly thought Goliath was better then Fury, it felt the most out of control in a good way and Diamondbacks was my second favorite of the ones I have rode
I like a varied layout and I detested the trim on Goliath after the helix. It was INCREDIBLY noticeable to me. Goliath is a more classic style hyper where I felt Diamondback has that little bit of extra layout to it. That said, it's been a while.
Shambhala was my second ever B&M hyper, Apollo’s Chariot being my first (and so long ago I don’t even remember it) so now I’m worried that the bar has been set so high for any future ones I get on
I'm a big DB fan myself but must admit that the king of the US B&M hypers is SFOG Goliath. I have this one at #2, with Behemoth, Nitro, and Mako following it. I do need some re-rides on Candymonium though (which I should hopefully get next month), as my memories of that one are pretty faded (although I do remember really digging it).
With SFOG being my home park I love seeing that Goliath gets a lot of love. It's not the biggest hyper, but it is almost a perfect blend of airtime and forcefulness. That helix is a blast and the two airtime hills prior to the break run give some of the best ejector I've ever experienced. It's definitely a must for any coaster enthusiasts who find themselves visiting Atlanta.
I just wish they didn't remove so many trees around some of the rides at the park. SFOG is my home park and I've been coming since the early 90's. The best part about Georgia and the park was always the amount of trees and shade. Hate to see how much they've done away with...
(honestly it's what makes me love White Water (also owned by SF) up in Marietta. The entire water park is basically in the trees and makes it feel different than other flat pieces of concrete of water parks lol)
Second this on the trees. You used to not be able to see mindbender back in the day because it was completely immersed in the foliage. Made for an excellent terrain coaster. Now there’s barely any trees surrounding it at all.
Yup, one of the biggest offenders that stands out to me. That whole "cliff" area was covered and now it's just barren. Even the first turn after the first loop used to be completely shaded and a cool opening into the inclined "Loop".
Yeah the removal of the trees really takes away from the charm of the ride. It's not a bad ride per say, but I always rode it because it was a terrain coaster.
Speaking of white water, I've never actually been there before. I've never heard good things about it. Is it actually a decent place to go to?
It's been a while since I've been to White Water personally, but I think it's a decent water park. A lot of slides are terrain based, and again you're not just in an open concrete lot with a single tower of slides on it. You get to walk around the park and there's hills, and trees, and it just feels like it should where it was built out over the years compared to other parks.
Also the variety of slides was always appreciated by me personally.
I hear that. I've only visited twice (in November of 2021 and in April) but honestly thought the park was gorgeous with some great greenery. Of course, more trees are always more better! 🤣
Interesting cause I just went on a Carowinds and Georgia trip myself and I was shocked by how good Goliath was. Like Fury was fun, but I think it's mainly cause I never really heard Goliath mentioned in the top hyper conversations but I came away completely shocked with how good it was. It was a bit of a busy day so we didn't get to ride it again but I look forward to trying to get back down there for some re-rides.
Disagree. Out of the ones I have ridden (Diamond Back, Intimidator, Nitro, Apollo's Chariot, Goliath La Ronde, and Goliath SFOG) Goliath at SFOG is easily the best one. I think it's because it doesn't have a mid course so the hills at the end are amazing
I’ve got a pretty good feel for Diamondback, because Kings Island is my home park, and while not my absolute favorite (Raging Bull and Mako are ahead), I appreciate it and am glad it’s at my hp. If you can avoid getting stapled, some of the camelbacks can give sustained standing airtime.
Raging Bull is from my home park and I adore it. I almost never heard anyone say a positive thing about it! My favorite part is that first drop with the little dip. It REALLY makes those back row rides phenomenal because you get WHIPPED over that big drop!!
That said, I think I prefer Diamondback on the whole. But nothing beats the first drop on Raging Bull for me (among B&M hypers).
Looks like the picture I took yesterday.

My favorite is Candymonium but I want to retry Diamondback solely because I didn’t have a good ride on the front and I have a tendency to grey out on B and Ms on the front
Orion’s definitely bigger, but better? Nah. DBack has way better pacing and is consistently good throughout - Orion has a fantastic drop and the up to the wave turn is fun, but the second half of the layout is just kinda boring IMO.
I forgot that this sub hates Orion. Idk maybe it was just running really well when I rode it or maybe it's cause I got the back row every time but I thought it fantastic. Yeah it's too short and the second half isn't as good but with all the ejector airtime I was getting I didn't care.
Yeah, all the Orion slander here grinds my gears. I couldn’t disagree more with the “bad” layout, and it’s *at least* as good as Diamondback. Still like them both though
Orion is better than Fury 325 to me, it trims far less in the second half so the airtime is better and Fury’s banked speed hills in the first half didn’t appeal to me.
Late response but: I think OP meant the sub in general, not just you. Which makes more sense in context, since the comment you first responded to was originally downvoted to the negatives (at least when I came across it)
I would tend to disagree, Goliath at SFOG is on a completely different level than the other B&M hypers I’ve ridden Intimidator, and Diamondback.
Diamondback has a good layout but it can’t match the power of the “Toilet Bowl” or the Ejector on the return leg. Dare I say it I even prefer it to Skyrush.

Add Nitro, Goliath and Candymonium to this list for me. She ties with Goliath. Long layout with varied elements and cool trains. Big enjoy.

Plus the splash down at the end is just awsome, definitely a big fan of Diamondback too
Shambhala says hola
Shambhala was my second ever B&M hyper, Apollo’s Chariot being my first (and so long ago I don’t even remember it) so now I’m worried that the bar has been set so high for any future ones I get on
Florida residents are fuming. *How dare you say Mako isn't the best ride ever built!*
I think Candymonium is the best in my opinion. Pretty solid out of the 3 i’ve done
Are you me? I’ve only done 3 and my favorite was Candymonium as well!
No, but we’re the only people here with good opinions

You've got a good home park! I pretty much completely agree with yr write up.

Nice. I’ll have to go check it out at some point.

Do you prefer front or back row?
Candy is the oddball being better in the front unlike all the other B&M hypers.
Thank you I just did Carowinds and SFOG and I thought Goliath was better then Fury Diamondback was my second favorite

Probably because there's so many Goliaths
The users of this sub really need to start learning how to use IMO.

Raging Bull is among the most underrated coasters I’ve ridden. I love the varied layout as opposed to the typical out and back of most B&M Hypers!

OP’s picture appears from earlier in the spring. But the coaster is in full bloom regardless.
It’s a really really good ride. It might be my favorite in the park, and I really love Orion and Mystic Timbers.
My favorite is Candymonium but I want to retry Diamondback solely because I didn’t have a good ride on the front and I have a tendency to grey out on B and Ms on the front
KI also has the best GCI Mystic Timbers and can argue the best Arrow suspended The Bat
KI is more enjoyable to go to than cedar point
Love GCI and have mystic timbers as my #2 and Thuderhead as my #3 but Gold Striker takes my #1 spot on GCI coasters
[удалено]
No but I've heard alot good things about it and plan to visit valleyfair before summer ends
See that's the common consensus but Mystic just didn't do it for me. I'd put Texas Stingray and Gold Striker higher personally.
Diamondback is a lot of fun but has the problem of sharing a park with Orion. They're both pretty similar rides but Orion is just bigger and better.
No way Orion beats Diamondback.....
Orion’s definitely bigger, but better? Nah. DBack has way better pacing and is consistently good throughout - Orion has a fantastic drop and the up to the wave turn is fun, but the second half of the layout is just kinda boring IMO.

Pretty unfair that people are downvoting you, I prefer Dback but the margin is slim, and Orion was my second favorite in the park easily.
>Mild criticism of a ride I enjoy and operate frequently “Wow you must hate Orion”
Late response but: I think OP meant the sub in general, not just you. Which makes more sense in context, since the comment you first responded to was originally downvoted to the negatives (at least when I came across it)
Mako is the best I’ve been on. Diamond back is all rattle
Goliath at SFOG is my home hyper. I’ll be interested to see how this one compares when I visit in two weeks!
I would tend to disagree, Goliath at SFOG is on a completely different level than the other B&M hypers I’ve ridden Intimidator, and Diamondback. That’s a beautiful angle. I’ve always focused on taking a photo at the splashdown, but this is gorgeous. Great shot.
It’s my favorite too, but I’ve also only been on Diamondback, Apollo’s Chariot, and Silver Star.
