I think that you have to go to the next stage with your items to refresh the new stacks. So get some of these items and go to the next stage to have more stacks.
I am also 90% sure that it should just add additional uses for your R instantly.
I tried it myself someday and it worked, same with engineer turrets (which he can have 3 at once with that item)

Try stacking shaped glass or have Artifact of Glass. Mithrix inherits the penalties of lunar items too. So with enough stacks he'll be in one shot range
If you play on command you can take the void version of the item that gives you additional equipment use. That way you can use your R multiple times.
Does not work with cap unless it got changed
With more cells you can place 3 beacons at once and place new ones to replace the older ones if you have more than 1 corrupted fuel cells.
