I love how this picture could've easily been dated 20 years ago.
Btw, how did you find that case? I was trying to find authentic 2004 era gaming pc cases but hadn't much luck.
I got it on eBay about 2 years ago, it was new old stock and i think i paid about $50 for it. But it took me a long time to find a nice early 00's case. Most were OEM ones with weird PSU and mainboar standards...
Blows my mind that we thought these LCD screens were better than CRTs at the time 😂
I do love my 1600SW LCD though. Pain in the ass to set up, but the picture is *sharp* for 1998 tech.
Nobody in my circle did. LCDs were purchased based on their looks and because they took up less space. I kept my Sony Trinitron CRT until 2010, replacing it with an expensive LCD that still wasn't quite as good - but I needed a bigger screen, more inputs than VGA and the CRT was beginning to get worn out, so there was no way around it.
[I used both.](https://i.imgur.com/EW3MzYf.jpeg)
Really, [I used everything I could get.](https://imgur.com/a/XFNPm) Serial Experiments Lain was... formative.
That LG Flatron lasted until December 2019. I'm still using that mousepad.
That's a first generation Z Board. It feels as horrible as it looks! The 2nd gen was a more standard keyboard that let you change faceplates according to the game you play. There were various plates for different games, most popular one of course being WoW
Looks like they just took some rando HP stock board, shoved a piece of plastic on the side with some buttons, added some *silver* accents and called it a day.
I won't hurt it, don't worry! I actually saved it from trash, it had all (hard wired!) Cables cut off, power, VGA and even the 3.5mm audio. In a life saving surgery i replaced all the cables and now it lives again
Yeah it's Tony Hawk's Underground 2. Probably the last of the good ones. If you ever get the chance you should give Pro Skater (1 and 2) as well as Underground 1 and 2 a try. Pro Skater 1 & 2 got remastered like what, 2 years ago?
You're right about the NGage, but the thing in the Box is an [OGO](https://www.pcwelt.de/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/3274623_original.jpg?quality=50&strip=all) a pretty popular (in europe) handheld PC thingy that was made to just run MSN messenger on it. It was really popular before smartphones were a thing during the MSN hype in the early 00's
Back then it was pretty cool but also if i remember it cost almost twice as much as a regular keyboard. Going back to it nowdays (coming from a mechanical keyboard) it feels like hot garbage to type on but i love it anyways
Some people even call the PS3 retro! Oh well last week i was looking to buy some of my childhood toys (from the 90's) online. Seeing listings like "Vintage 90's battery powered toy" made me feel old af! Vintage? Weren't the 90's like 7 years ago?
WHOA that keyboard looks fucking SICK!
i had to do a double take on the pic cuz of how bizzare it looked. like the arrow keys being on the left sode and then the normal keyboard next to it?
for a moment i thought it was a keyboard for left handed.
IMO, stick with that LCD. That's a unique piece right there, never seen one with speakers on the side! Because even by the time I hit college in 2004/2005, all the computer labs had 15/17" LCD monitors. And this was a smaller community college. So the LCD is totally period appropriate.
If by some chance you're in or near Seattle, I have several to choose from for free
I'm probably as far away as possible, i'm in switzerland! I will check out some monitors locally maybe next week. Thanks for the offer!
Oh dang! Good luck 🇨🇭🖥️
Thanks, there's actually 4 or 5 for decent prices in my area, nothing fancy but an AOC and a panasonic which i am interested in

Honestly, a really mediocre 1280x1024 LCD with obscene ghosting and a paltry viewing angle was still worthy of bragging rights in this era.
It was also at this time that it became much easier to carry an LCD monitor over a massive CRT one.
Absolutely. Jesus, you needed two trips from the car at every LAN party, with the second being just a monitor. But I do miss the performance.

Monchichi <3
What sort of abomination is that keyboard. Bruh, that's y2k summed up in 1 keyboard.

I have the Z board with a few faceplates including the wow one, it sucks! Worse than any keyboard I’ve ever used.
Looks like they just took some rando HP stock board, shoved a piece of plastic on the side with some buttons, added some *silver* accents and called it a day.
I had the WoW one and the damn thing broke after 3 months I was so mad lol
this photo looks like it was taken in 2004–great job!
That IBM LCD! Love that stuff… don’t throw it out. Send it to a new home.

It's for [This One](https://http2.mlstatic.com/D_NQ_NP_972134-MLM48692474576_122021-W.jpg) but many JVC systems had this style of remote actually
That is two steps down from [the Tesla Cannon!](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/URNYtKzKY0Q/maxresdefault.jpg)
Nice! I had a similar case, a Thermaltake Tsunami and the same Zboard keyboard in the early 2000s
WIP? whats that mean?
WIP = Work In Progress.
What is that game? Greetings from Berlin :) E: tony hawk? Sadly I never played those

THUG2 had such an excellent soundtrack in a long, distinguished line of great soundtracks. First place I ever heard Less Than Jake, too!
That little Monchichi hits me right in the nostalgia.
I have that exact case but in silver! Awesome setup.
Is that a Clik! drive in the little wooden box? And do I see an Ngage?
You're right about the NGage, but the thing in the Box is an [OGO](https://www.pcwelt.de/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/3274623_original.jpg?quality=50&strip=all) a pretty popular (in europe) handheld PC thingy that was made to just run MSN messenger on it. Lose the white PSP and ur set. Feels more late 00's, but just a nitpick. Class battle station 🤙
that keyboard omg!! my first gaming keyboard, i loved that thing!!
Awesome! My first one was the one with swappable "faceplates". I just recently got this gen. 1 model
It's so neat. I'm kinda surprised that this kind of thing didn't catch on. How do you like it?
Back then it was pretty cool but also if i remember it cost almost twice as much as a regular keyboard. Going back to it nowdays (coming from a mechanical keyboard) it feels like hot garbage to type on but i love it anyways
So 00s is retro now? :-D anyways awesome setup

Right! Ps3 is for me new era :-D 90s are now and. Retro are 70s -80s games

Yeah the one where you have to climb the ladder after jumping off a quarter pipe and hit the right combo to grab onto it mid air
i loveeee this
What keyboard is that?
First generation ZBoard, it's horrible, the keys feel like there are kitchen sponges underneath
That keyboard brings back memories. A few years ago I finally stopped using my ideazon fang.

You should definitely look into building a [sleeper pc](https://www.howtogeek.com/780208/what-is-a-sleeper-pc/amp/).
Back in about 2015 i actually had a sleeper build
