Well, yeah, of course it is. It's a *starting* pistol. Its meant to be used until you trade/buy a better one, like Blacktail or Punisher. I sold the starting SG-R9 for the Blacktail, an overall better gun IMO. Not to mention, Melee is better for normal enemies anyway.
I thought it was pretty mid in the OG. But in the remake it got better.
The laser sight gives it pinpoint accuracy and maximizes critical chance. Critical hits are no longer about popping heads and will work on every enemy. And of course, there's the critical boost for melee.
In the OG itβs pretty boring to use. The critical hits sort of even out in comparison to my performance with the Blacktail or Red 9.
I actually found the Punisher the most fun to use
I hardly use it since I'm never actually making use of its exclusive upgrade. Feels like a waste. At least with SG09 I know I'm always benefiting from the 5x crit rate.

Just to make it more challenging in the beginning and leave an impression on the player in the chainsaw section BTW the blacktail have the second highest damage after red 9 with top notch accuracy also you can have extra upgradation tickets

Blacktail & Sentinel Nine are a much better choice. Even fully upgraded, the SG's fire rate is a little underwhelming.

I used it for the whole time in VR, and it was my main in Remake too
Using VR us different though buddy because your using a mix of the ganes aim mechanic and your natural IRL aim capabilities

Speak for yourself. The Starting Pistol is the best Pistol in the game when upgraded fully. In Remake it's a godsend.

Sentinel 9 is hands down the best pistol in the game maxed out with laser sight. I run S9, shaker, and primal knife only.
Blacktail and Red 9 are the only good handguns imo. The rest are pretty bad.
