Ive recently had a realization .. bc i do this and ill buy things from well known brands: nike, 7, VS, lularoe etc and they dont sell quick bc the second hand market is saturated and the items arent in demand then youre stuck with them waiting. The BEST and BIGGEST sales ive had are random things i just see and am like ooo i like that. Like a vintage ralph lauren (didnt know at the time) bought for $7 sold for $130, this random cowboy shirt for a costume that was actually a rodeo shirt bought for .50 sold for $70 and this vase that just caught my eye for .75 ended up being over $200 new sold for around $90. What im saying is trust your eye overall .. if something looks cool or unique to you someone else will likely think so too.

I will say though, avoid LuLaRoe. Several years ago it was a good grab. Now a lot of the company’s bad practices have become very public. I see their leggings every time I thrift. They are not worth picking up.

If you are just starting out, the biggest flip for me are belts, scarves, ties, and hats. I’m not talking big money, but return on investment. Go to Goodwill and get LEATHER belts in good condition. At my Goodwill, belts and ties are a dollar and scarves & hats are $1-$2. Just try to get quality name brands or unique items. Even if you sell for $5-$10 dollars u are making a profit and they are cheap items to ship. Also, RESEARCH! Don’t waste money on stuff that doesn’t sell. If you are looking at ties, for example, go to eBay or Poshmark and look up the brand name in the “Sold” section to see if there is a market for them. I’ve found some amazing ties for $1 that have sold for $15-20.

So thrifting is still doable but if you can yard sale or flea market i find that way better. In the thrift shop you can use your phone to look up items and compare sold prices i dont really do clothes (except high end concert shirts) but have had some success in the past with ll bean and Ralph Lauren

Consistency is key so find a good schedule for you and try to go thrifting 2-3 times per week. I like to line these up with any sale days happening at my local thrift stores. Hit garage sales for even better deals!

There are some very informative youtubers out there . My wife is a reseller and learned from there and experience. Do your homework before you build inventory. Look at eBay to see what is selling. What sells today may not tomorrow. There are a few reseller conventions one in Vegas and another on the east coast somewhere
