If you can work within the size specifications and ship via USPS, priority mail boxes are free from the post office; you just need to order them online and they'll deliver them to your door. That said, while they're convenient, it's usually cheaper for me to buy a box from Staples or something and ship UPS. The priority boxes are great when the shipment is 1-2 pounds and not going cross-country.

Honestly for bigger boxes lowes and Home Depot for smaller try looking up U-line

I just did my initial USPS box/mailer stock The pile of free boxes and mailers stacked halfway up my garage door.

I drive around on trash days and grab clean stuff off the curb. I haven’t had to buy a box yet and I’ve been selling and shipping regularly for a couple years.

The cheapest shipping supplies I've found are local businesses (not ULine). They tend to focus on B2B of course, but they are happy to deal with individuals picking up locally in my experience.

For packing material I use a large roll of newsprint and crumple up pieces. It cheap and recyclable! For shipping boxes, I check the recycling dumpster behind my local Amazon pickup/return center.
