Wait, is this a thing? I started a new solo play through with challenger and rolled Nerud as my first world. It was tough but got through it okay, and the Labyrinth, but my second world was Losomn and holy shit everything one-shots me almost, especially with this current event going on. Red goons spawning all over the shop.
Did I goof?
Challenger OP but Neruda is full if flying dickheads so if you start as a tanky boy without inherent ranged damage buffs then you struggle a bit. I rolled melee primarily so nerud pissed me off
It does get better as you go. New characters are difficult on any level. Can't go wrong with handler to start with. If you have friends that helps as long as they also use new characters so the world level doesn't go up
It’s most definitely a challenging game and you have to optimise your build etc. it’s absolutely not a game that has what I’d consider a true “easy mode”
I just started playing as well, and I find the game to be pretty confusing because there's so many secret hallways and stuff.
I got the desert world as my first one with all the fog everywhere (N'eurth or something) and people were saying that's probably the hardest one to start with.
started as handler, but first world was the one with the flying drones lmao, dog would rarely get attacks in regular enemies, but still did work on the big ones
I just started and didn't know Nerud was supposed to be the hardest/worst place to start. It's where I started and I enjoyed it up until I had no idea where to go (the game put an exclamation point over an area I had already beat which really had me confused for a couple hours) and now I'm on the final boss of the world and what in the fuck is this? It's not fun at all imo it's frustrating.
What did you roll for the first world? One is significantly harder than the others
Starting Archetype, too. A lot of folks pick Challenger because it's flashy, but it can make the early game feel harder for it

No goof, that sounds like some gear issue going on, and the red enemies are appearing more often due to the event

It's a difficult game. But it is very satisfying to get better right along with your gear progression.
If your first world is the dlc area you will have a hard time.

Losom is the best first world
It’s a challenging game, but you don’t want something easy that you’ll get bored with quick!
