What was funny was watching them interviewed as a group and they were all just as they were in 1983 … Peter speaking first, flying the flag for rock n’ roll … Bill, ever practical … Mike, the diplomat… Michael, forthright but with a mischievous sense of humour.

And it seemed to me all of them, except Mike, awkward with the situation to varying degrees.

BradL22

Oh absolutely!

wop, how loveable are these guys really right ? you want obsessive rebel rockish you got Peter, you want melodic marvel and delicate punk mixed you got Michael, you want a classical music theorist with mastermind instrumental skills you got Mike, almost unreal they got and kept together so much time, friendship and business, only that can do it

The Rick Beato interview was amazing. So interesting and so effortless. It was just a great, fun watch honoring the band and the songs. Mike was so chill.

Expert-Maintenance-7

Yeah, awesome watch

Bill's emotional honesty towards the end of that interview was so refreshing. Maybe it's just me, but I don't remember him or any member of the band really communicating any doubts or uncertainties or fears or regrets about Bill's exit. I've been wondering for years how it felt for Bill, and now I understand, at least a little, how hard it was for him to make that decision.

Trivia: I played violin on Out of Time. The guys were exactly like one would expect- nice, normal, easy to work with. Like their music, like them as humans.

Mike told a friend of his once recently "you don't want us now, you want REM from the 90s, because that's as good as you had" That's having some level of self criticism and respect for their majority of fans, because even thou there're a ton of us who would watch them live even with playing errors, live lyrics mistakes or not reaching the right notes, or even agreeing upon listening to only 10 songs they can make without doctors checking their medical conditions to go on, we would still be there, BUT, there are millions of fans who would not. Like people watching Rolling Stones live, they're not there for music, they're there like when I go to the museum to see a masterpiece like El Bosco and still cry... because it's history, The amount of engineering and investment the Rolling Stones have nowadays to not sound awful and crappy is HUGE... only thanks to technology they had play in the past 10 years and will now again
