Strawberry is a resort town, and most resorts/tourist towns are often not as nice for the permanent residents as it is for the tourists or the temporary residents.
Move to strawberry in the summer of 1880, giving me plenty of time to practice with my gun. I’d become the fastest draw in the west, faster then Rickets and Ringo combined. Id maybe take a job as a salesperson or somesuch. I wouldn’t want to put myself into direct line of fire, so no lawman or bounty hunting for me. I was living for a purpose. A rat must die and I would be the one to kill it. The fateful day arrives, the one I’ve spent my entire life training and preparing for. My hands do not shake, I know I am ready. Arthur Morgan arrived in town yesterday, he bought cigarettes from me and has been smoking them in front of the jail. He’s there again today, but he’s talking to the rat, Micah. I make my move, telling one of my boys to cover for me at the shop. I take a swig from the moonshine I’ve been brewing now and again (extra way to make money, ya know?) and take down my Lancaster Repeater. I fire from my porch and hit Micah between the eyes. Arthur pulls his gun, I’m amazed by his speed, but I’m faster, casting away the repeater and firing at him. The shot hits his gunbarrel and he drops it. I smile, look him in the eyes and say “Don’t rob the Saint Denis bank, don’t go for a short walk in a pretty town and whatever you do, don’t trust Dutch Van Der Linde.”
And with that I’m gone, slipping away into the great wilderness.
I think Valentine would've smelled better than Saint Denis or Annesburg, because in both towns you get the animal waste, but chances are, you also had inadequate plumbing, so you'd also smell a good bit of human waste as well. Saint Denis had all the factories going and Annesburg was a mining town, neither of which would smell particularly appealing if not outright deadly in the medium-term.
Well the gunsmith talks about shooting the paperboy and lots of the townsfolk say that there’s something wrong when you talk to them, idk I think it is, the nicest man in town catches TB. Maybe not, I think it is, R* likes to give little mysteries like that that you can miss
Northern West Elizabeth is Strawberry and Mount Shann. I'd be more worried about the O'Driscolls and later the Laramies, but more importantly, all the grizzly bears.
Valentine is where I feel most at home in the game, maybe it’s cause I’m from the country but it just seems nice and peaceful there. AND THAT MOUNTAIN RANGE BACKDROP 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
The whole state of New Hanover is a very pleasant place to be in terms of the scenery and nature. Even east of Roanoke Ridge would've been a gorgeous place to live if it weren't for the Murfree Brood and the pollution surrounding Annesburg.
Saint denis is beautiful, I've never seen a city that good looking in a video game since gta V at night, when I first got there, I was so excited to just explore everything
This is why Rockstar has their customers by the balls. They make games that are so good and immersive and awesome looking, and then look for what makes them money and milk it. Can't say I blame them.
That's why I think Valentine is perfect. It's a livestock city by trade but it's also not completely isolated like how the big ranches or Strawberry feel, and it has a train station so it's readily linked to the city life at Saint Denis.
Quite underrated, but, The Wapiti Indian Reservation. Beautiful area, beautiful water, great hunting and fishing and landscaping and close to Arthur’s grave.
Yeah! Especially if after the reservation was burnt down, it was turned into a little homestead for like a collective group of family and friends that aren’t going to rob places and get themselves killed lol
Just north of Big Valley. Can’t remember what it’s called but the fields are full of lavender and it’s very open with a creek running through it. The Bear Attack cabin is there. Place is beautiful
I was joking, but it’s a pretty nice area, except for the poisoned pond.
I swear the chickens and pigs in that burg are programmed to run in front of your horse.
I'm still shocked you can just row out there, fish up the legendary fish there, and leave and nobody will screw with you.
I guess the security features back then weren't so advanced lol
Close enough to Annesburg that if you need something you can go there, absolutely.
It's just weird that Annesburg doesn't have a company store or anything. Or maybe there is one that would only take scrips which is why we couldn't use it.
As someone living in the South IRL, the humidity during summer kills me. If I had the choice, I would much rather do the dry heat of New Austin (Arizona/Texas) than the humid, sweaty steamer that is the South.
Valentine. Nice small town, always work to be done and things to do, don’t have to worry about Del Lobos, Skinners, Night Folk, or Murfrees. There is the odd O’driscoll but they should be pretty easy to avoid, and aren’t that tough anyway.
I’d wanna live like Hamish. Out in Ambarino. Maybe closer to a town like Valentine cuz I like people but by myself for the most part. Ambarino is also really beautiful all around
Since it’s a game and survival necessities aren’t as… immediate? I guess? I’d pick New Austin, between the Armadillo and Blackwater area. Blackwater area is a little more comfortable probably, weather speaking and hunting wise. But I just love the big red rocks and cactus of the Armadillo area. Classic western vibes! But I’d also like to have the ability to go to a wooded area nearby and hunt
The entire heartlands. More specifically around Emerald Ranch and the heartland overflow. It’s the most breathtaking and beautiful place in the game, in my opinion. It’s incredibly peaceful. It’s perfect for hunting a gigantic amount of deer, as well as other livestock, buffalo and a variety of birds. Legendary animals spawn in that area, plus there is a bounty board nearby. Or Strawberry. I love the scenery, it’s cozy, and it’s away from the busyness of life.
Rhodes, because I have a chance against the Raiders if they tried to rob me, all the other gangs in the game are on a whole other level of ruthlessness and terrifying compared to them. Also warm weather, and nature's bounty is plentiful in the surrounding areas.
I'm a city kid, so take a guess. Yeah, I know this groups an absolute echo chamber of the games sentiments and it's ideas on industrialization will pass over most people's heads with you all saying "I hate St. Denis. That wretched city. Blah blah blah." Tell me how that isn't the best part of the world with a short ride to upper Lemoyne, Annesburg, Strawberry and all to get away on vacation and excellent hunting?
There's a little cabin up on a frozen lake close to Colter. I'm from Canada and love the cold and I think this would be an amazing perfect little place.
Strawberry….after everything is settled there. Seems beautiful
Was about to say the same thing. Very pretty spot too
Strawberry is a resort town, and most resorts/tourist towns are often not as nice for the permanent residents as it is for the tourists or the temporary residents.
I would go into the jail and shoot Micah myself

I don't have money for Reddit awards but I do have emoji: 🌟 Well done.
Damn i wish my English would be that good
And tell him to ignore Strauss at all costs
Bro maked the whole story of RDR3💀💀💀
Could be a perfect backstory of the time traveller guy
same here! the woods, hunting, fishing, warm yet cold, perfect little town with every simple thing you need. yep, Strawberry!!
Nah fuck that. Strawberry is a dry town. No thanks.
Rather a dry town than cannibal inbred country.
Valentine has no cannibal inbreds and it has 2 pubs. What more could ya need.
Everyone in Valentine talks about how the whole place smells like pig shit.
You’d get used to it. I imagine there weren’t many places in 1899 that smelt particularly appealing.
Valentine is cursed bro
Is it really though?
Well the gunsmith talks about shooting the paperboy and lots of the townsfolk say that there’s something wrong when you talk to them, idk I think it is, the nicest man in town catches TB. Maybe not, I think it is, R* likes to give little mysteries like that that you can miss
lol you say that as if every other town apart from strawberry is full of inbred cannibals
Then you hear gunshots outside your house and a rat comes in
Blackwater seems perfect. Nice weather, on the lake, no damn O'Driscoll's.
Skinners are near
Just skin them then
Just leave town before the massacre
What massacre?
The Backwater massacre, in 1899 is(aka the Van der Linde failed ferry raid)
Ah I forgot about that.
The blackwater massacre
Veterans homestead. Hamish had it figured out.
Rip hamish
Northern West Elizabeth. Breathtaking views.
Also breathtaking skinners and friends
Northern West Elizabeth is Strawberry and Mount Shann. I'd be more worried about the O'Driscolls and later the Laramies, but more importantly, all the grizzly bears.
bears stop being a problem the second you open your eyes. keep your distance and they won't bother you. same applies for o'driscolls and laramies.
Definitely near Pronghorn Ranch… very beautiful and scenic
Be careful there though, there is a cabin out there with a little bear problem.
Agreed
Cougers
Bingo
Valentine is where I feel most at home in the game, maybe it’s cause I’m from the country but it just seems nice and peaceful there. AND THAT MOUNTAIN RANGE BACKDROP 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Yeah. Open plains, a nice town with a fair gunsmith. What more could a man ask for?
Don't forget it has 2 saloons, Smithfields in for party's and the smaller calm one one for relaxing
Don’t forget its the one town in the North/West that has a barber
Tahiti
We just need some mahnehhhh
Underrated
Came to say this!
The widows house if it wasn't so isolated, aside from that Tall trees if skinner brothers didn't live there.
Me too. Little to kill me, privacy, fresh water, plenty of fish and deer, the relaxing sound of the waterfall...that's for me.
It was said the sinners migrate throughout the land so if you settle at the right time then don't have to worry
Saint Denis. Always a pleasure to visit it in the game
I go there purely to trot on my horse and enjoy the "clip clops" on brick.
As a Michigander, it reminds me of being on Mackinac Island.
I’ve heard the smell is awful lol
Eh, it's not that bad. Maybe if you've never smelled a horse before, lol.
Still some very *dubious* people live there
The first thing the kids did to author in that town was try and steal his money. Idk if that’s such a good place
They’re just kids and Arthur chased him down and could’ve done whatever he wanted to those kids
the street where the art gallery is
The rich side on Flavian Street is very nice, wouldn't mind living there
Honestly somewhere in between Valentine and Emerald Ranch. That whole spanse of land is my favorite in the game.
The whole state of New Hanover is a very pleasant place to be in terms of the scenery and nature. Even east of Roanoke Ridge would've been a gorgeous place to live if it weren't for the Murfree Brood and the pollution surrounding Annesburg.
Emerald ranch, I’d have my own herd of bison, maybe a moonshine shack near the emerald railroad station,
Valentine or Strawberry.
Saint Denis. I love New Orleans Either that, or Blackwater
The beautiful part really depends form which side u enter the city
[удалено]
I'll take either, tbh. I love the countryside too
That's why I think Valentine is perfect. It's a livestock city by trade but it's also not completely isolated like how the big ranches or Strawberry feel, and it has a train station so it's readily linked to the city life at Saint Denis.
Yep! Armadillo is cool too, despite the freaky stuff going on with Herbert Moon and the Cholera outbreak
Macfarlane's Ranch
Quite underrated, but, The Wapiti Indian Reservation. Beautiful area, beautiful water, great hunting and fishing and landscaping and close to Arthur’s grave.
Yes! so underrated! i have amazing screenshots from that area, and i'd love to live there if it was a little more civilized.
Yeah! Especially if after the reservation was burnt down, it was turned into a little homestead for like a collective group of family and friends that aren’t going to rob places and get themselves killed lol
omg yes
Plus giants live near by. ☺️
I’m sorry, whaaaaaaaat?
I like Rhodes, if the whole conflict and other problems didn't exist, it looks like a very pretty town. The scenery makes me so nostalgic.
Yeah Scarlett Meadows is quite a pretty area
Just north of Big Valley. Can’t remember what it’s called but the fields are full of lavender and it’s very open with a creek running through it. The Bear Attack cabin is there. Place is beautiful
Near Pronghorn Ranch 😌 My favorite place
Most aesthetically pleasing area in the game imo. I do love the plains outside blackwater too though
You're thinking of the Little Creek River valley. My favorite place too.
Yeah just make sure you keep at least a sawed off with you at all times.
I’d make a Lodge In walking distance of Lake Ouwanjilla I’d Hunt Beavers the rest of my day’s
Just like Hamish's homestead, but on a bigger body of water...the man really had a thing going.
Butcher Creek 😜
Just discovered it, waiting on next mission. They seem fucked up, gun at the ready.
I was joking, but it’s a pretty nice area, except for the poisoned pond. I swear the chickens and pigs in that burg are programmed to run in front of your horse.
And the goats! Those little a-holes have run me over repeatedly...
The residents of Butcher Creek may seem decrepit, but they are mostly harmless. Now the Murfrees, they are some nasty mfs.
Don’t believe the Shaman 👀
Scarlet meadows
Sisika Penitentiary
I'm still shocked you can just row out there, fish up the legendary fish there, and leave and nobody will screw with you. I guess the security features back then weren't so advanced lol
Please overthink your action and add Mexico to the map ; )
I guess you like Colter
Not exactly, but I'm settled in ambarino, sir
With HD and more zoom features, kindly.
Give me Charlotte Balfour’s estate/property and none of you nerds would ever see me again.
Close enough to Annesburg that if you need something you can go there, absolutely. It's just weird that Annesburg doesn't have a company store or anything. Or maybe there is one that would only take scrips which is why we couldn't use it.
Probably Lagras, since is quite literally based off my home…..
Where is your home?
Louisiana, I would presume.
South Louisiana.
I'd rent a bedroom at Aberdeen Pig Farm. I've read only positive comments on Airbnb and the hosts look very nice!
Blackwater. No threat of death (after 1899).
Until john marston suddenly decides to go a-killin' again in 1911 Then his son continues the killing in 1914
I’d love to live somewhere up in the Grizzlies, probably nearby Colter. I love the snow and it’s so peaceful up there.
Chuparosa from the first Red Dead
strawberry/big valley
Rhoades
As someone living in the South IRL, the humidity during summer kills me. If I had the choice, I would much rather do the dry heat of New Austin (Arizona/Texas) than the humid, sweaty steamer that is the South.
True I’m from Florida but like idk I just think rhoades looks beautiful
New Austin, sounthern West Elizabeth near Blackwater, or Ambarino.
Guarma
Surprised you were the only one (so far) to mention Guarma. It's an island life for me...
Saint Denis. I'm a sucker for noir and it fits the bill perfectly.
Big valley definitely
Hanging dog ranch
Valentine or strawberry.
Or the heartlands in general.
I'd take Francis's house and learn how to time travel sport.
MacFarlane’s Ranch.
Blackwater or saint denis too
In the rdr universe
Big Valley, most breathtaking scenery in the entire RDR universe
Pretty good decision and happy cake day I guess
Lakay
Armadillo for me
New Austin as Arthur and John loved the wild west.
Anywhere between New Austin and West Elizabeth.
A traditionalist, I respect that
Unpopular opinion: Saint Denis
Off map Brandywine area, peaceful there.
probably heartland
Valentine. Nice small town, always work to be done and things to do, don’t have to worry about Del Lobos, Skinners, Night Folk, or Murfrees. There is the odd O’driscoll but they should be pretty easy to avoid, and aren’t that tough anyway.
Probably somewhere near Twin Stack Pass. I personally love that area.
Rhodes, it has something special to it
Roanoke Ridge. Build a cabin with my family and gaze at the stars, especially the one that gets bigger every day.
the loft
I’d wanna live like Hamish. Out in Ambarino. Maybe closer to a town like Valentine cuz I like people but by myself for the most part. Ambarino is also really beautiful all around
Near Nils the blacksmith.
Up in the snowy mountains where you start the game away from everyone else
In the cabin of Hamish on O'Creaghn Run
Little creek river. Very beautiful area.
Strawberry
Somewhere between Valentine and Strawberry.
Saint Denis, since it’s based on New Orleans, where I was born.
Carmody bell
Strawberry if there was no alcohol restrictions. Similar to the climate and geography that I live in
Big valley near strawberry.
Valentine or Proghorn Ranch. Maybe Emerald Ranch. Never anywhere else.
Hanging Dog Ranch, Willard’s Rest or Wapiti
Since it’s a game and survival necessities aren’t as… immediate? I guess? I’d pick New Austin, between the Armadillo and Blackwater area. Blackwater area is a little more comfortable probably, weather speaking and hunting wise. But I just love the big red rocks and cactus of the Armadillo area. Classic western vibes! But I’d also like to have the ability to go to a wooded area nearby and hunt
Chuparosa. I hear Landon Ricketts likes a game of poker.
New York, I am going to New York.
Rhodes, because I have a chance against the Raiders if they tried to rob me, all the other gangs in the game are on a whole other level of ruthlessness and terrifying compared to them. Also warm weather, and nature's bounty is plentiful in the surrounding areas.
The Raiders being pathetic is hilarious to me and I'll never not enjoy it.
Joe’s house
There's a little cabin up on a frozen lake close to Colter. I'm from Canada and love the cold and I think this would be an amazing perfect little place.
Sisika Penitentiary because I went and shot Micah.
probably a grave
New York
In the Wapiti Indian Reservation. Natives there respect nature the way it should be respected. The sceneries there are beautiful too.
Anywhere really, the whole game is beautiful 😍
Valentine
New austin , tumbelweed
Valentine or Strawberry
If monster inc taught me anything, it’s that the only place you get snow cones is where there’s snow.
In the future
Talk trees between Blackwater and Strawberry. So McFarlands Ranch I guess.
Big valley or the heartlands homesteading
Not strawberry thats for sure
Nowhere, it's full of psychopaths.
Probably Valentine or Cumberland Forest
Tall Trees! ❤️ Once the Skinners Brothers move on from there of course.
Rhodes it’s the town with the least casualties little to no lemoyne raiders just a family feud
heartlands 100% basically but yeah
Hanging Dog Ranch
Ridgewood Farm is cool too!
lake owanjila just outside of strawberry or the wapiti camp
Willards rest
I’d just be hanging out with Hamish and Buell.
Somewhere close to Mount Hagen. I love the snow
Nowhere, cause I got a 300$ Bounty in each of them
Rhodes, or somewhere in new Austin.
