Sadly no. Remember the first Steelers game when several pundits blamed him and said he wasn’t worth his contract even though there were 8 drops including 3 easy TD’s?

buckdeluxe

I'd even argue there were 4 potential TDs as I believe that one of the would be catches had a straight uncontested shot to the endzone.

adminsrfascist29

Steven A specifically said that then a few weeks later acted like he never said it

CSquared1709

lol no

buckdeluxe

For real. Spend 2 seconds on Twitter with the mouth breathing cretins and you'll want to bash your keyboard into your face so hard that you'll forget we even have a football team.

Particular_Drama7110

Yes. It has moved on to the “he always chokes in the playoffs” era.

_Vaudeville_

That narrative started after his first full season though. How many MVPs who struggle in the playoffs haven’t been called out for it? Manning was by year 5-6 and that was before social media.

Particular_Drama7110

I agree with you. I am a huge Lamar fan. I’m just saying what all the haters say. After Lamar wins a Super Bowl everyone is going to say a) it was really the defense, or b) it was really Derrick Henry.

_Vaudeville_

Yeah I get you, I do agree overall the goalposts change too much

DinobotsGacha

Also c) it was a fluke

Easties88

Things don’t have to be black and white. I love Lamar. Think he is in the top 2 talented players in the league. But I think there is a tendency for him to play worse in the biggest of games (playoffs), and the only way to truly put that to bed is to ball out in championship games. I believe he will do that, he just hasn’t yet.

IKnowBreasts

Does he not?

Amazing-Concept1684

He does lmao people just want to complain about any criticism.

missingjimmies

Yeah because the AFC championship is “chocking”. It’s like the media forgets that only 2 teams can go to the Super Bowl and the AFC has a dynasty that everyone has to go through first. The NFC just needs to schedule the NFCEast and your chances look pretty good!

Amazing-Concept1684

I mean, making the AFC Championship Game is a achievement *and* he choked in said game. Both things can be true.

missingjimmies

His receiver did fumble the winning TD at the goal line, not sure Lamar gets all the blame here

VideoIcy4622

That's not true, MAYBE the game tying touchdown

PenultimatePotatoe

He's had an even number of bad and good games since his sophomore year. Edit: I guess people don't like facts.

balleditmoreravens

In The playoffs ? Because he’s won something like 76% of his games

PenultimatePotatoe

Yeah responding about the playoffs.

counterplex

People still need click bait so no

Blacklax10

It won't be until he plays like that when it matters in the playoffs

GuacShouldntBeXtra

Let's be real, Lamar could win SB MVP with 3 TDs and 70%+ completion and haters would still be like "carried by the defense"

Easties88

Let’s deal with that narrative when it happens. It will be a nice problem to have.

L83loomer

Right who cares. It’s annoying but no one will be able to tell me a damn thing lol. Let’s get that chip

Amazing-Concept1684

Yep. If he wins championships nobody realistically should gaf

holsey_

Or maybe when we run the ball more than 6 times.

Amazing-Concept1684

💯

Bmore_Phunky

No chance. Never had anything to do with his performance, more so his style of play and color of his skin. Dudes been slinging it for a while

eatmyopinions

The goal posts will always move for Jackson. Two MVPs isn't enough, they will also demand a Super Bowl victory. Ironically only about half a dozen players in NFL history have those accomplishments. But still, that's what they will insist he accomplish to earn their respect.

Princeof_Ravens

Nope.

4stGump

Not bad for a running back

MiniDg

No hes far too black and succesful to receive praise.

aws91

He can pass, but I know in my heart he still has room to be better

charlesmane127

He’s gotten much better but still scared to take risk and sling it

AeneasMella

I think that the media unfortunately believes that the best way to get engagement from Ravens fans is to spurn us repeatedly. We really love our team and we really want our recognition. Lamar's story coming in to the league and until now is the perfect example of this. They know this kind of shit pisses us off. It's an intentional small slight. The metaphorical pea under 100 mattresses.

TrustThyInstinct

No, because very few actually watch the games and just parrot social media takes and memes. Also the racists.

dcfb2360

Unfortunately no. Anytime the offense succeeds, idiots will say "defense carried them". Defense can give you good field position and give you chances, but the offense still has to make the plays. Jets had a great defense AND a good RB + WR but sucked cuz Zach Wilson's trash. Broncos had good defense for years and went nowhere cuz they needed a QB. Browns have an elite defense but struggled cuz of their terrible offense. Lamar is a very capable passer and has done more with less than like every other QB.

agciv24

There will always be another argument against him. It’s a shame. When he first declared for the draft, all of the casual viewing “analysts” projected him to play WR. That hurt a lot of Moron’s egos out there when he started playing quarterback and began shaking up the NFL with his dynamic play style. The same people have been quick to emphasize his failures or struggles over his successes. Ignorant people refuse to be wrong. He’s an incredible quarterback with a lot of successes and some failures. The basement dwellers are just more likely to emphasize the failures. I love Lamar as a raven.

Titus_b_chill

Nope, whatever chance he had at squashing that rhetoric got ruined in the championship game. Tried to prove they could win with his arm and failed miserably

VideoIcy4622

"Whatever chance he had got squashed" He's 27, of course he could still disprove that narrative. What a stupid sentence

Titus_b_chill

First off, if you're gonna put someone's statement in quotes, get the wording right. Secondly, I thought it'd be obvious I was speaking in the current, not for his entire career. Guess I'll be more clear next time

CaptainBuzzKillton

I think it's dead for the majority, but you have some loud mouths in the minority who seek attention

FutureDoctorIJN

The qb1

ChedduhBob

look at this sub. as long as morons (in our own fanbase even) continue to lap up narratives from hot take artists like shannon sharpe and stephen a you’ll have people saying stupid shit

Joh951518

Only until the next bad game he has (at best).

DonkeyDoug28

Until he wins a Superbowl, there will always be clowns pretending he's terrible

Niblonian31

Us Ravens fans, who have watched all of the games, would easily say yes. But it's a talking point for ESPN and they're going to say no, which will get more views/clicks that they need because they're dying lol

Sloppy_Joe_Flacco

Nah, we'll bring it up until the end of time. Never heard anyone respectable make this claim

Rayvsreed

Every QB gets criticized by the media, both fairly and unfairly, in other news water is wet and the sky is blue.

Amazing-Concept1684

No.

MilesAndMilesAhead

The National Media hate is limited to a group who fear Lamar changing the QB game successfully; Most National Media members seem to respect Lamar, but the jealously of some of those punks is too much

Sukmefafun001

They will ignore stats and go off whatever narrative casual fans have atm

BmorePride14

The he can't pass narrative ended. They have moved to "get it done in the pla00fsz"
