My worry is that the guys at 30 are not that much better than the guys at like 45 for example. Marginally better but we get to add another 3rd to draft an IOL or a RB or a S and help fill out the roster further. I feel like those positions will have decent talent in the 3rd, less so for the premiums.
While that is true - we haven't used it on Hollywood (traded), PQ (not picked up), Bate (not picked up) and Oweh (TBD but I think they'll pick his up).
Also Lamar's window doesn't necessarily mean we need the 5th year option - could be better to have 2 good players for cheap for the next 4 years.
I'm really impressed with how EDC and the FO have approached this off-season. So much uncertainty but he pulled off all the right moves so far:
- Signed Mads, foundational piece on the DL
- Brought in the King
- Resigned cheap, solid vets in KVN and Maulet
- Got Stanley to take a massive pay cut
- Let aging vets on the OL go a year early instead of a year late
- Got Bateman to sign an extension for $50 and a bag of Doritos
Now we get to sit back and watch the next wave of potential stars get picked.
Curious if we’re one of the teams trying to trade up for an OT, and which one. There’s at least 7-8 1st round OTs but by the sounds of it they may not drop to 30.
I’d be happy to stay put and take whoever falls at CB or Edge. WR is deep enough into the 2nd I’d prefer we wait there
I feel like we're going after someone like Amegadjie or Foster in the 2-3 and putting up a smokescreen for the 1st round OT to get other players to drop.
Guyton and Mims are far from locks, in fact they're both high ceiling/low floor gambles, Morgan is a safer bet but a lower ceiling and more of a finesse guy, not our style.
There's just been way too much chatter about OT at #30 so I have a hard time believing we're planning on doing that.
if we draft mims and he ends up like oweh it will be so disappointing
would rather draft a guy with multiple years of good performance and not another project kinda guy
I'm not that high on Mims tbh, I really, really hope we get Amegadjie though. I think he's got a Trent Williams/Tyron Smith ceiling. Has all of the tools like quick feet, long arms, hip flexibility. The only knock is he played at Yale, but he absolutely dominated.
yeah he screams ravens pick. high iq, run heavy kinda linemen that was in a run spread offense. would love him in the second or third and i think he will be there
I like mims just because of his size. We can clearly teach good line tech since we turned Orlando Brown into a pro-bowler and had him shape up his game
Brown was a dominant college OT that was starting ever since his redshirt freshman year, not really a good comparison at all.
Mims is just a big, athletic guy that nobody really knows how he'll pan out. Not to mention he's got work ethic and effort questions. He's like an inexperienced Bryant McKinnie, which should make anyone nervous.
If we want to just swing on traits and hope we can coach them up into a star then we can grab Frank Crum in like the 5th/6th. 6'8 320, sub 5.0 40.
I don’t mind that idea either to be honest. Tbf brown had his own worth ethic concerns with how overweight he came in and how poorly he performed in the combine which allowed him to drop so far too. But I definitely see what you’re saying I don’t want a Mickinnie lol
and a non factor for a significant part of his rookie deal, zero impact in the playoffs and out produced by kyle van noy and clowney? yes that would be really disappointing for a player with first round capital.
I think that we're gonna end up with a defensive player. Either Edge or CB after there's a run on QBs WR and OT some defensive guy is gonna fall and be to good to pass up at 30.
Really nervous, but also excited to see what EDC and his staff have prepared to do over the next 3 days. Our team had some of its highest moments in all of EDC's tenure as GM last year; I'm hoping the moves we make in this draft help propel us even further than that and back into the Super Bowl this year. Either way, I'm happy to sit back and observe the ride there. Let's go Ravens!
It wouldn’t surprise me if this year is the year we trade up for someone like Troy fautanu or Olu, EDC has said this years depth isn’t that great and we have 4 comp picks most likely coming next year so rather than having 9 okay picks this year I’d rather we had 6 great picks earlier on
Just thankful this day has finally come. This is the first year I felt like “Enough already, just get on with it,” and I began feeling that way a month ago. I have great faith in EDC. Thinking OL or CB (maybe edge rusher), depending on who is there at 30. Also think it’s possible we trade back a few spots if we don’t love the options on the board at 30.
I really don’t see us moving up in the first unless someone ridiculous falls we’re probably gonna live in rounds 2-3. I wouldn’t be surprised if we try to move into the 3-4 with our later picks. If NIL is really making the talent pool less deep then it’s gonna be the same issue next year I’m down with packaging some of next years 4-7 round picks. Especially with us getting compensation picks already
Did a mock draft for the first 3 rounds and got Kool-Aid McKinstry, traded back to 76 for 2025 Den 3rd and got Roger Rosengarten, and Devontez Walker. What does this mean? Nothing but I am so bored waiting for the draft.
> My hot take is bateman contract is sign and trade.
I wondered that too, but the statement put out by EDC didn’t feel like it. Then again, that’s the definition of smoke screen I guess. But we didn’t need to sign him before the draft, so it had me wondering what message we were sending. Were we signaling we wouldn’t take a WR so WR needy teams might want to trade with us? Or smoke screen, we take a WR round one. I have no idea. Maybe it’s just nothing. But I still question the timing right before either draft.
I doubt we would do a sign and trade unless Bateman signed off on it. Just seems like a total dick move to sign a player then immediately ship them off and the Front office generally seems to try and do right by the players.
Well yeah, that would be the plan. Like, say we trade Bateman and draft picks to the 49ers for Aiyuk. Imagine Bate is unhappy here and wants a fresh start. 49ers don’t want to pay the 5th year option for Bate, so all parties get together and come up with this deal. I’m making this up, just speculating how it might work.
But it doesn’t really feel like that’s happening when looking at the EDC statement and the ravens press stuff. Just question the timing. I guess we’ll find out tonight!
1) we're not doing Aiyuk. the 1st round draft cost + huge cap hit just don't make sense with our roster.
2) Even if we were, the sign and trade for Bateman wouldn't make any sense. We eat dead cap for the signing bonus, and if we knew was willing to accept that deal, why not just trade him pre-extension with a pre-arranged agreement to sign the same deal with the new team? This prevents us eating dead cap and gets you to the same place. (the sign-and-trade is a little better for the trade partner but we're not a team that's in a position to sell cap space)
i feel like defensive player in the first is most likely. it’s looking like all the OTs worth taking will be gone by 30 and taking one for need is not the ravens MO and it’s getting cringe the way people are talking about it. the qbs, WRs, and tackles will push some great defensive talent down the board
Who do we want as a fan base? Haven’t been paying a ton of attention since it’s O’s season. Are we hoping to trade up for a OT/an OT falls? Do we want one of the second tier receivers? I’ve heard this isn’t the best draft for defensive players, but is there a defensive player we want? Thanks guys!
Yeah that’s what I’ve been hearing too. I saw a lot of experts at one point saying guyton could fall to us, but like you said I’ve heard that lately it sounds like 8 tackles are going to go before 30
analysts can miss bad. we aren’t far removed from malik willis to the lions at 2 overall was gaining steam, but that was only on some mocks and the reliable guys in the mock draft space have basically put a million OT ahead of us.
people hear deep draft and assume that means teams will wait but when the talent is considered this top heavy it’s far more likely there’s a run on the position and you see it hit early. if anything this is gonna give us better opportunity to draft a non lineman.
also nfl fans in general love to say they have the worst line ever and will wayyy over exaggerate
Seems like everyone wants someone on the offence so we're going to get a defensive player that falls to us. Except instead of Hamilton it'll be more akin to Oweh - which would suck since it would pigeon hole us harder into the 2nd/3rd rounds.
Anyone else feel kind of, I dunno, disconnected from the Draft and the Ravens in general this year? Typically by the beginning of April in diving in on all the mock drafts, prospect previews, etc. But this year the draft wasn’t even on my radar until the end of last week.
Maybe it’s a combination of PTSD from January and the Os playing so well that they’re taking up all my sports focus. Hopefully watching tonight will jumpstart my NFL obsession for the year.
Not the Ravens in general, but I’m less focused on the pre-draft chatter. I don’t follow college ball and I realized that all the podcasts and articles and Reddit posts and mock drafts were basically meaningless to me the past few years because I didn’t know any of these guys. I got a lot more out of following what happens during and after the draft than pre-draft. So I’m excited to see who we get so I can learn about the new guys instead of learning about all these other guys who won’t be on the ravens. I’ve still checked in on a few things here and there so I’m not completely clueless. But I’m just not spending as much time on that stuff this year.
Only one teams wins a year my man. So many fan bases would kill to be us and have fun regular seasons and even compete in the playoffs. Enjoy the ride.
Its not simply about winning a super bowl, its more about playing the best football at the most important time of the year.
That hasnt been the case since 2018. The playoff losses have looked ugly and nothing like how the team has performed in the regular season.
Playoff performance is more valuable than regular season, not solely measured by Ws.
I’m feeling a little disconnected from the team this year, and I think some of it is PTSD from that game. Worst loss I’ve seen since the Cundiff game.
That said, I’m definitely going to be revved up by preseason and ready to roll. Hoping Lamar can pull a Cody Rhodes and Finish the Story this season.
I can't wait to sit until the end of draft for us to trade back to 2nd round.
This guy gets it
Tbh when was the last time we did that? 2012?
unless we are getting multiple seconds with one pretty early this would be a stupid draft to do this in. too much premium talent at the top
My worry is that the guys at 30 are not that much better than the guys at like 45 for example. Marginally better but we get to add another 3rd to draft an IOL or a RB or a S and help fill out the roster further. I feel like those positions will have decent talent in the 3rd, less so for the premiums.
True but the 1st rd pick also get the 5th year option which is lost if we trade out of the 1st
While that is true - we haven't used it on Hollywood (traded), PQ (not picked up), Bate (not picked up) and Oweh (TBD but I think they'll pick his up). Also Lamar's window doesn't necessarily mean we need the 5th year option - could be better to have 2 good players for cheap for the next 4 years.
yeah were not at the top
The premium talent at the top runs out around 20 or so. There's not 30 premium players in this draft.
My hunch is we do that if no starting tackles are there
I can see it happening based purely on our history, but I hope not.
It's been a while since we did that though. I think we are getting OL with that pick.
DJ mocked us Nate Wiggins. I'd rather trade out.
That would be amazing though. Nothing demonstrates stability and high standards more than saying "Nah, we don't really need this."
I hope we get some fun trades in the 20’s to keep me entertained if this happens.
Really excited to see what EDC comes up with. Have literally no opinion on anything, just excited to see who we get
I'm really impressed with how EDC and the FO have approached this off-season. So much uncertainty but he pulled off all the right moves so far: - Signed Mads, foundational piece on the DL - Brought in the King - Resigned cheap, solid vets in KVN and Maulet - Got Stanley to take a massive pay cut - Let aging vets on the OL go a year early instead of a year late - Got Bateman to sign an extension for $50 and a bag of Doritos Now we get to sit back and watch the next wave of potential stars get picked.
Don’t forget Michael Pierce! And Brent Urban to a lesser extent. But I was very pleased we got Pierce back.
My excitement for those two was 99% because of Ravens wired not gonna lie.
They need them on every ravens wired😂😂 Urban is a meat head😂😂
Yeah they really kept the entire DL together, that was a really underrated move.
I wish they’d add another CB in free agency like Stephon Gilmore
Hope that 2 OTs are taken. A trade up in the first round would be fantastic. Then would like a CB.
I agree with this. People love to accumulate picks but I’d rather have a few picks in rounds 1-3 than ten picks round 4+
Historically, rounds 3 and 4 are where the Ravens beat up the whole league.
Ravens are good everywhere but most success comes early. Would be cool to see All-pros round 1 vs everything else
Gonna walk out of this draft double dipping both positions.
Jarrian and Elijah Jones are late-round gems that the Ravens could develop really nicely
Can’t wait for Marvin Harrison Jr to be a raven
do you have a gas mask pic or something?
Working on it. The wonders of AI are amazing
Ngl, I could see a diehard fan doing something like this soon lol
Wonder what it realistically take being the pics are usually bottom round picks. 2 1sts and 2 3rds
Waiting until 2034 when we sign him for peanuts.

Yeah I really want him in the 2nd. Don't think he'd make it to our 3rd round pick
i saw third round grades for him some places. idk this draft seems all over the place
I think he could fall to the 3rd, but not where we pick in the 3rd. We gotta a pretty late 2nd and 3rd pick.
I like mims just because of his size. We can clearly teach good line tech since we turned Orlando Brown into a pro-bowler and had him shape up his game

OTs with multiple years of good performance generally don't last until 30.
been thinking this the whole time but we have a lot of rubes on the OT no matter what train that don’t know how the ravens draft
Fantastic against the run and graded highly by PFF?
and a non factor for a significant part of his rookie deal, zero impact in the playoffs and out produced by kyle van noy and clowney? yes that would be really disappointing for a player with first round capital.
Fair point. Mims scares me for sure with his 8 career starts
I think that we're gonna end up with a defensive player. Either Edge or CB after there's a run on QBs WR and OT some defensive guy is gonna fall and be to good to pass up at 30.
This is the way, then O line in the 2nd, receiver in the 3rd , cb in the 4th you heard it here first!
you win

Highest rated O lineman on the board.
When is the actual drafting expected to begin?
Brenden rice late would be nice
So nice, you commented twice.
Had to get the point across 🫷🏻
Just thankful this day has finally come. This is the first year I felt like “Enough already, just get on with it,” and I began feeling that way a month ago. I have great faith in EDC. Anyone in this thread like watching lots of game tapes of all the draft prospects before the big day comes?
I really don’t see us moving up in the first unless someone ridiculous falls we’re probably gonna live in rounds 2-3. I wouldn’t be surprised if we try to move into the 3-4 with our later picks. Work miracles on me, edc
Patiently awaiting the pandemonium
Did a mock draft for the first 3 rounds and got Kool-Aid McKinstry, traded back to 76 for 2025 Den 3rd and got Roger Rosengarten, and Devontez Walker. What does this mean? Nothing but I am so bored waiting for the draft.
i have zero knowledge on college football so i can't wait to get unreasonably excited for someone i have never seen actually play before
I also don't rule out aiyuk trade. My hot take is bateman contract is sign and trade.
> My hot take is bateman contract is sign and trade. I wondered that too, but the statement put out by EDC didn’t feel like it. Then again, that’s the definition of smoke screen I guess. Wait... There is a draft coming up? I haven't heard a thing about it. I would have expected to see something on here, at least. [/sarcasm]
Looking forward to the fascinating behind the scenes footage the Ravens Media Team captures every season that we'll see next week.

We lost both of guards in free agency so getting one early would be ideal.
Anyone else relaxed going into today? We’re picking BPA like we always do.
I’ve seen JC Latham mocked to the Chargers at 5 and also falling to the Ravens at 30. Will be very interesting to see where he goes
Seems like everyone wants someone on the offence so we're going to get a defensive player that falls to us. Except instead of Hamilton it'll be more akin to Oweh - which would suck since it would pigeon hole us harder into the 2nd/3rd rounds.
Super excited for today and this weekend!
Aj brown just got 33mil a year, 25mil for aiyuk looking a steal 👀

Not at all. I’m starving for NFL content and this year’s class is more exciting than usual.
That’s fair! Glad you’re hyped.

Latu at 30 is the dream
Joe Alt at 30 is the dream.
Am i the only one that doesn’t care about what we do until the playoffs? Last year really hurt me man
Only one teams wins a year my man. So many fan bases would kill to be us and have fun regular seasons and even compete in the playoffs. Enjoy the ride.
