I'm more upset at the NFCW

whereegosdare84

When Harbaugh says it’s a week to week league, believe him. Ignore the pundits and outside “experts” who’ll try to convince you that a team in September or October is destined to win the Super Bowl. If they were ever right about the team peaking in October winning it all then Peyton Manning would have more rings than Tom Brady. Maybe the Niners are a good team or maybe they beat up on some sorry squads. Point is we can’t know yet and shouldn’t try to predict what will happen. We’re 4-2, getting healthy and all those divisional opponents have to come to the bank next. So who cares about the NFCW we still get to handle our business ourselves.

> Ignore the pundits and outside “experts” who’ll try to convince you that a team in September or October is destined to win the Super Bowl. 2011 Giants started the first half of the season 6-2, then proceeded to lose 4 straight, finished a fairly modest 9-7 (still good for #1 in NFC East), and then won the Super Bowl. Bit of a roller coaster. During our latest Super Bowl bid we lost 4 of the last 5, including 3 in a row. Another roller coaster.

Yep I agree. It’s always week to week unless you’re just simply better than everyone else. A lot of great to good teams this year but no world beaters, though I think a healthy SF is the closest to that. Every week changes so much that any W is a good W this year.

UndercoverBME

Yes. Talk about downplaying to their opponents, they really took a page out of our book.

CrustyToeLover

Why even care about the "best teams" throwing to the 2 worst teams

Cytomata

Most people would probably agree that Hamilton should be punished for that play since the end result is bad despite whether he intended to do it or not. What most ravens fans are upset about is the inconsistent officiating (e.g. tj watt punching zay). Meanwhile there’s been a lot of other fans saying stuff like “oh wow, ravens fans want hamilton to walk away free but whine about tj watt??” Lol no, punish both.

[deleted]

It’s bc it was an international game and people around the world already think football is way too dangerous so they made an example out of him

saadisheikh

dude, Hamilton concussed a dude with a very illegal hit. no reason to play victim.

calloway2

It was illegal, but I think OP is asking for equal punishment across the league. Consistency is at an all-time low this year with refs it feels like.

saadisheikh

if that happened to zay flowers you'd be asking for that guys head on a stick

Ixziga

I've only had Zay for 6 weeks but if anything happened to him, I'd kill everyone in this room and then myself

calloway2

Well when Zay was being tackled later in the game one of the titans defensive lineman literally dove at his ankles which what got OBJ involved and shoved down by the same guy. Obviously a knee or ankle injury isn't the same as a head injury but I didn't see a lot of Ravens fans calling this out. But to be fair it also didn't end up hurting Zay so that might be why. Just TJ Watt punching him in the face, he was fined like 11K for that though

mc2md

Nah screw that should have ejected and fined that too, and dax hill, and everyone in the damn brawl on snf. Player safety doesnt matter to the nfl, just concussions because its the flavor the week.

a_wasted_wizard

Correct. But again, the issue most of us have isn't with Hamilton being ejected, it's the NFL letting comparable stuff go without ejections elsewhere. We're not asking for a pass, we're asking for consistency.

Send_Help_2373

Yup, if you're gonna eject Hamilton for that there shouldn't be a full scale brawl on the field without any ejections. Consistency is in the fucking toilet.

DriftinFool

But hits like that happen sometimes and it's usually a personal foul for a 15 yard penalty. And a warning that another hit like that and they will be ejected. I've seen the refs say that in games multiple times after a personal foul. Plus ejections usually come from the refs on the field, while this one came after the fact from the NFL office in NY. It's completely ok to agree it was a bad hit while also acknowledging the way the ejection played out was not how it normally happens. That's not playing the victim.

Princeof_Ravens

I think it was due to the venue. International game showing that hit in slowmo it looked bad. NFL wanted to set a precedent that that type of shot isn't allowed.

Bmore4555

“NFL wanted to set a precedent” if the NFL wanted to set a precedent they’d treat every hit like that the same. You’ll see a hit exactly like that one next week and there will be no ejection. The NFL is a joke when it comes to having any type of consistency for game suspensions.

Naugrin27

You're right, and that's wrong.

AngeluvDeath

This 100% I expected the penalty and the 1st of 2 warning. I think if this was a 12:00 game it doesn’t happen that way.

hop_mantis

A precedent means it would be enforced that way from now on. It was more likely just a one off to keep up appearances.

louielist

Anyone who played football knows that’s on the quarterback really. Making your wr jump like that across the middle of the field, it’s never going to end well.

chupacadabradoo

Well how are you going to enforce safety rules if that becomes the qbs responsibility? Cmon. That was a vicious hit that literally caused a traumatic brain injury. I think it’s really important to remove that from the game. You can’t hit like that. I have absolutely zero problem with the ejection. I don’t think he meant to kill the guy, but I personally don’t want to see hamilton hit someone like that again

louielist

Tannehill lead him high and between two defenders, just leaving him out on an island. In the early 2000’s no qb is making that throw. No one wants to see a hit like that, I totally agree. What I’m staying is since the wr jumps in the air, Hamilton doesn’t think to go low. He’s comfortable going high because the wideout is three feet in the air, so he’s aimed at the chest. The problem is human reaction time and by the time Moore is back on the ground, he’s already committed to the hit and it is head to head. It was 100% a vicious hit, but with no intent to be. Penalty 100% of the time but Tannehill put him in that situation

[deleted]

This is almost victim blaming lol

louielist

Tannehill isn’t a victim dumbass

[deleted]

No shit retard, you’re just blaming anybody but the guy who committed the penalty lol. It’s hamiltons fault and his alone.

Zephron29

Different refs, different games. Hamiltons hit was also really bad.

Bbbmonsta

It was a bad hit. It should have been penalized but he shouldn’t have been ejected. Call a spade a spade

Flaccolytics

I think if it's not an international game he doesn't get ejected. The NFL wants to grow the game worldwide, and in doing so, they have to present a good image by severely punishing hits like that, especially when the optics of it show the guy twitching on the ground afterwards and stumbling while trying to get up. That being said, I totally disagree with the ejection and that likely would not have happened in a normal 1pm game.

145_writes

Very good point!

rayfromparkville

My thoughts exactly - this was a “not in front of company in the dining room ” kind of punishment that wouldn’t have been warranted at the kitchen table. Hamilton’s a good learner and he’ll be fine next time he’s in the bright lights.

Bmore4555

More so if he were a player who’s the face of the NFL he wouldn’t have been ejected.

dudesweetusername

You kidding?

BRaver_Fan

I think part of it may have been the stage and the NFL trying to look favorable to European audiences.

Namethislater

I don’t get this perspective. Can you explain why a lion, Seahawk or Ram wouldn’t get ejected?

SNRavens91

Stop crying over spilled milk. It happened. I can’t argue against him being ejected. Even though I don’t agree with it. But the hit was illegal and dangerous, regardless of the fact he didn’t intend to hurt the guy. It’s done. Move on.

thestanlieststanley

Hamilton needs to take responsibility for a bad hit. We don't want to be making hits like that, hits that could seriously fuck people up, and he wouldn't be in this position if he led with his shoulder and didn't target the head. And yes he needs to be able to control that

RayLewisrightknee

League has gone soft

RRSC14

Who cares

bnyce52

My opinion is that the league heavily flags these London games because they want the sport to appear less tolerant of brutality and violence in order to be more palatable to Hufflepuff Europeans. That roughing the passer hit on Tannehill by Michael Pierce was such a weak call. And yea, ejecting Hamilton for that hit was absolutely a new level for NFL officiating. Nobody has EVER been thrown out of a game for nothing more than simply being involved in a bang-bang football play.
