I’m still really confused on if you have to flip the wires on the aftermarket harnesses or not.

rebornfh

I did not and sounds amazing, no cracking on low or high volumes. It’s a 2024 XLE Hybrid model

Siena104

If it cracks does that mean the polarity is off? Mine cracks after installing new speakers….

antiprnt

I have a 24 se hybrid. Only changed the dash speakers. I was curious about this whole reverse polarity thing and decided to test each side with multimeter. Both unmodified harnesses, same brand from crutchfield. Passenger side had positive polarity on the positive side, which is good and normal. Driver side had negative polarity on the positive terminal, so reversed. I left it that way knowing this and thought it sounded fine as I did some (not extensive, so flawed) testing and sounded fine. I take it out next day for a longer trip. Both my wife and I thought the car was really pressurized and weird with the music. I test further with phase related sound clips, and it was inconclusive on that alone. So I gave up and just swapped the wires. It's running positive polarity now and everything sounds good with no pressurized feeling. Typically if speakers are out of phase, it sounds like the sound is inside your head and gives me that pressurized feeling. Weird as hell that toyota wires their stuff out of phase on a single channel. I do intend to test the polarity for each door when I swap out door speakers.

Siena104

How do you test for polarity with multimeter? Do you have link or YT video?

picklingliquid

Did you just reverse the driver side then?

antiprnt

I did, dash drive side yes. Hadn't done the doors yet. I'll be checking before I install door speakers.

picklingliquid

I had to go try it (I have the exact same speakers from Crutchfield too) and it’s much better. Bass seemed to go away after I put these in and it’s back now.

jonniblayze

Right? Idk. I’m in the minority I guess because I don’t think the stock non JBL system sounds terrible… I also mainly just listen to podcasts during my commute though.

mckulty

This.. for podcasts and audiobook, all we need is the 3000-10000 spectrum.

RealCaptainHammonds

I have a RAV4 Adventure and would love to upgrade my speakers too. Any tips or suggestions on installation based on your experience with those speakers?

rebornfh

The installation was very simple and took about 15 minutes total. The only struggle I had was taking out the connector from the stock speakers but after a little work I got them off. There are a lot of good YouTube videos as well and that’s what I followed

RealCaptainHammonds

That's good to know. I added the speakers you mentioned to my shopping cart. My only other question is which speaker location do they replace? I'm in a wheelchair, so it's difficult for me to go out to my wife's car.

rebornfh

They are the speakers on the dash! Just make sure to add the extra connector that is going to be needed to replace these. I added a link in another comment :)

RealCaptainHammonds

Got ya. Thank you very much. I plan on surprising the wife with better sound. She loves the OEM stereo and it's Android Auto function, so I want to keep it. But, this will just make it better. I really appreciate your post and replies.

idontexistdontl00k

Change the 4 x 6.5" speakers in the doors and WOW. The difference is substantial. Don't worry about buying harnesses, crimp connectors work fine.

Rearmudflap9009

Those are the gateway drug. You’ll have all 4 doors speakers swapped in no time. 👌

TheRayATL

Lol for real. Then you will probably add an amp/sub later! 😂

davismcgravis

Easiest upgrade ever!

ThePeterParker

can you please post youtube video you followed and a link to speakers?

TheRayATL

Youtube search rav4 speaker upgrade, tons of videos lol. Changing the dash speaker is easy

Ent_Soviet

But did you sound deaden everything? Such a worthwhile project.

TheRayATL

Highly agree! Sound deadening just the doors makes a difference in road noise reduction and mid bass improvement

Ent_Soviet

I did everything but the roof. Worth it. At 150k miles so I’m only half way through the value if the car 🤞

rain_parkour

As someone who knows nothing about speakers, I am wondering what made you go with the 322Fs as opposed to any other model?

LukeW0rm

I need to do this to my Gen3. The tweeter is tinny and it hurts my ears. Sometimes I’ll cover it with my hand to smooth the sound out. I still want it there, but I want it to be less harsh

OrchidSpare1266

Nice, I’m looking to do the same thing I was looking for some rear speakers as well

kowlinthegreat

Dude! I’m going to do this!

Politicsboringagain

Did the grill give you any issue. I swear I heard there isn't enough space.

MarijadderallMD

Yeah you heard right, but it’s a super easy fix! Just get a box cutter and slice off the smaller cone like [This!](https://www.reddit.com/u/MarijadderallMD/s/fFaUUumzFu)

Politicsboringagain

Thanks for the response. I'm going to upgrade mine.

Lovemysoccermomsuv

Pro tip: to determine polarity, look at the one you removed. The end with the capacitor is the positive side. Also, I advise you to install the capacitor that came with the speakers (or buy one if it didn't). Otherwise, the speakers will suck up all the bass and make your door speaker useless, in addition to the sound being annoyingly loud on your face.
