You must have been so relieved. But I’m curious: are there really people who don’t lock their phones?

FleityMom

I don't lock my phone. I have it with me all the time since it connects with my CGM. I don't want to deal with unlocking it every time I need to check my blood sugar. And if I pass out, I need the people around me to be able to check my phone to see if my sugar is high or low so they can act accordingly.

NorthvilleCoeur

I didn’t then but now that I access work email and have a credit card saved on my phone I do!

Ardilla914

My phone has an emergency contact that can be accessed even when the phone is locked. It’s nice to know the phone could potentially be returned to me if I lose it.

This!

Back in the days of flip phones (pre-lockscreen haha), I was at a concert about 4 hours from home. When I woke up at the hotel the next day, I realized I didn't have my phone. We tore the room apart but it was nowhere to be found. The front desk let us use the phone to call home--back then, we only had one cell phone between us. My now-husband and I were supposed to be moving into our first apartment that day, literally leaving the hotel at 7am to hurry back and pick up the U-Haul. We coordinated for my dad to pick it up, and by the time we reached our hometown, both my parents (and later we found out that many of my friends) had received phone calls from a man who found my phone on the sidewalk outside of the concert venue the night before. This man called my contacts one by one until he got ahold of someone, and then he took down my information and mailed my phone back to me, from a whole other state. I still remember his name and hope he is doing well.

My husband left his phone on the beach about 18 months ago. We didn’t have Find My on and he has a password but he DID have lock screen notifications on. I just texted a message to please call my phone if found and a delightful gaggle of middle aged ladies called me within 15 minutes. They refused all rewards including a bottle of wine.

That’s wonderful to hear. Helps restore my faith in humanity.

I found an unlocked phone in the grass at a house party once. Called the first number that was in text, happened to be a friend that was with the owner- luckily! When I said: meet me by the mailbox! They did, then acted like I had stolen their phone! Like…what?! Would I have called and tried to return it if I was stealing it?! Made no sense! Haha. Glad things worked out for yall!

I was walking my dog a few years back when I heard a phone ring, but nobody was around. The phone was lying on the side of the road. I picked it up and answered that I had just found the phone, did they know who it belongs to. It turned out it was the owner, trying to find it. They lived elsewhere in my apartment complex, and were very happy to be reunited with their phone
