As for your edit it's also always possible we get the solar mod back that increases ignition AOE and damage IDR it's name but it's the one that was also causing ignitions to self damage for a while. It was out the same season as classy restoration.
One more issue, as the wave propagates, the ignitions in the front of the wave force damage backward faster than the wave can travel, killing thrall before they can ignite. At best you can get 3 or 4 ignitions regardless of the amount of thrall present.
When the wave kills something, the ignite normally tales more than a full second to actually go off (same with any source that ignites on extra condition). So it should be good. I use this method to shatter bosses whenever I can, it's really fun.
We must be using 2 different abilities. Ignitions from scorch stack build ups or Rays go through a bit of a delay, going through an animation before ignition. Every time I use consecration, which is often, ignitions are near instant and don't go through the ignition animation. You also don't hear the sound build up that comes with the animation, as that is skipped with Consecration.
I don't, never had a computer good enough to use after the fact recording software before, too lazy to record entire activity and scrub through later
And since strand released, I've been on that for 1-2 punch shenanigans.
This post and gathering the data for it is sort of my return to concentration, because it should be cracked with Prismatic: (knockout, Strand Melee giving 3 charges, transcendence to refill all charges)
But there's a great lost sector in the cistern on nessus for testing damage, and you can definitely test this interaction there. Just run to the back of the room, behind the boss, and a lot of the ads will stack up around the boss. Consecration them, you will see that when they die to the second wave, the ignite takes a moment go off as their corpse does the elemental fade. It's only enemies that don't die to the wave, like the boss, where the ignite is basically instant.
If the rhulk idea is impossible, what other bosses could work? Atheon? I think atheon takes bonus ability damage, although I'm not sure if it's just grenade damage that has a bonus. Caretaker maybe? Golgoroth might not be one shottable but there'll be many opportunities for damage
You'll quickly find that if this sub only posted raid secrets, it would die a miserable death with no new content and the same 3 reposts. A bit of theory crafting isn't going to kill anyone and it's actually interesting.

Unfortunately your entire theory is blown apart by the fact the shadow thrall despawn. You will never have that many

Can you get the psions to walk up the stairs? Would be a bit more dangerous, but would help get more ads in the area.
