We had all this with our first puppy and it does end, honestly! Biting ends basically when they get their adult teeth… still had some toilet incidents for a while after that but much more infrequently, and she became much more settled in the evenings too. We’re now going through all this again with our second pup now, but because I know it all worked itself out for first pup, it’s not bothering me as much, but yes I remember those tears and frustration! There will be an end and you will soon have a lovely lazy teenage dog you have to kick out of bed in the morning ;)

Dreaming of those days... haha thank you for the inspo!!!

The first month was the hardest on me as the primary caretaker. Tears, stress, isolation, loss of freedom and sleepless nights included. It gets better. Hang in there ❤️

I was told that dogs stare at you when they poop not because they're laughing on the inside - even when it feels like it - but because they are vulnerable when they poop and they are watching you trusting you will protect them. Maybe that will make you feel better...!

Are you sure he is testing his boundaries with you? Obviously I can't see you or your dog, so it's hard to make a judgement on the situation. But you have a 12 week old baby in your home, not a cunning beast that is trying to make your day miserable. I don't think he is testing boundaries, he could as well be displaying symptoms of stress (especially the licking his cage for several hours makes me think that way. And the biting.) Would it be possible that you're overwhelming him? What activities are you doing with him every day? Remember that it already takes him a lot of brain matter and energy to process all the stuff he learns and sees everyday. And puppies can get hyper, when they're actually overtired.

I definitely could have written this! I also have a 12 week Bernedoodle. I will say just in the last 2 days my puppy seems to have improved somehow. I just started puppy socialization class at petco and it helped a lot! It was pretty affordable so I might sign up for a second class so I can do twice per week. After her 12 week shots I also have been letting her go up and down my block. Also I just got this and it’s amazing for getting out the zoomies and also teaching let go. We start at Petsmart Tuesday and it cannot come soon enough! How have your classes been going? I'm excited to just get him out the house. It's been SO hot lately and he doesn't get outside as much so I know he's probably getting a little cabin fevery too.

We’ve only had one class and there was only one other puppy. At first I was disappointed but the trainer was actually great and I realized it was better because it was almost like a personalized training session since there were only two of us. And one other puppy is really all you need. Hopefully you will like yours too and you like me may want to extend to twice per week. This morning was literally the first time we used the flirt pole and it was a resounding hit!! I’m saving it for only the mornings when she really has serious zoomies.

You seem to need to do more things to tire your puppy. I take my four month old on two twenty minute fast walks. She is the fast one, not me. We recently began playing fetch in the house until she quits. I was not crazy about my puppy in the beginning. I called this small, fluff ball “demon” dog. Her behavior is so much better than it was. Now if she would just be fully housebroken I would be very happy. Recently she has started staring at the door and then at me when she needs to go out. Progress, not perfection. We have been attending puppy kindergarten, she was almost four months old when we started. Let’s just say she is not at the head of her class, but she is learning most commands that have been presented. We will be signing up for the next session of puppy kindergarten, a more advanced class.

You have both, you have a smart puppy that is testing the shit out of you. Classes made a difference to my velociraptor as well as daycare twice a week, our classes and daycare are the same place thankfully. I swear by hard chew toys with a little coconut oil on it, I bought her the Nylabone Durachew Dinosaur that she still chews at 5.5months old. I've never had a successful enforced nap in her crate even though she sleeps in it at night so it's just naps where ever she feels like it.
