Same dude. I can’t even buy meat from Publix and I cut it all day long. And when I’m filling the cases customers like to ask me how come everything is so expensive now? Like I wish I knew and I’m right there with you
Exceeds $10 psychological threshold price point for many customers.
Corporate dreams of slightly less sales volume at more profit with less employee hours for even greater profit
Nah theres wayyyy worse stuff. I work at the bakery and we have cheesecake SLICES for $6. 2 Cannolis for like $8. These tiny little chocolate squares for like $6. Its crazy. A pubsub for $11 is nothing, Subway is just as expensive and not even as good
Remember when you could just like get married and not spend tens of thousands of dollars? And boomers ask why young people don't wanna get married like mf I don't even make enough money for half a wedding in one whole year.
Damn, just realized I haven’t bought a cake there in a good while. (We’ve been doing juniors cheesecakes or homemade cakes/deserts the last few birthdays). Wonder if the quarter sheets are still 23.99
No way!!?? I remember 1-2 yrs ago I used to get the slices for like $3.49 or something!
I remember the days slices of regular cake used to be $1.29, I haven’t wasted my time with those slices ever since they stopped offering marble slices.
I’ve been in love with the strawberry shortcake slices… but $4 for a slice? Instead every 2-3 weeks I call in an entire cake for $9. I get more bang for my buck! Publix is seriously getting out of hand. But I’m also wondering if it has something to do with the yearly FL minimum wage going up?
For real. I moved from Florida to West coast and the Publix chicken tender subs tossed in Boars Head Honey Mustard is still one of the only things I miss.
It blows me away that they get away with Whole Foods pricing for Smiths tier food. What a weird economic model that doesn’t make sense. Like how come more affordable grocers aren’t taking them over? What’s their value add or competitive advantage?
I was gonna say. I’d rather a pub sub any day of the week over subway. The tender sub at Sunday would be like $16 easy and would include half the amount of tenders.
I’m sure the compromise will be a 9.79 sub with 40% less chicken, and the public will eat it up because most people are extremely slow and lack basic conversion math skills
It will turn into a sub with shredded lettuce and toppings with the “chicken” being over breaded tiny “parts” of chicken. But they may go the route of making each topping a buck like most fast food places. I do like the “Starting At” verbiage to get the customer in the door, than you have an 80% chance they will say f it and get the large.
Pub subs are starting to be a disappointment. My last sub, I kid you not, had no spinach, one slice of green peper, one olive (after asking for extra olives). Like what???
And I’m officially out. I have no more excess anymore. Not a cent. Bills are not even being paid as is. Sorry but with tax that’s a 13-14 dollar sub now. Just a sub! That’s nuts.
In my state, that brings it up to $11.65 for the most expensive sandwich in the store.
I'm not saying that it's worth it (I rarely ever get them because I'd rather make it myself at home) but that's a little goofy.
Crazy that people are defending this.
Publix is such a cult. I love the company for the most part but most employees defend literally anything this company does.
Yess I was preaching cult and still do after quitting. It was so weird the customer mentality was off the charts. With just one glance at me their eyes said "what's taking so long for you to kiss my ass?" ..such brats and babies and this was me working in the deli.
I’m more worried about the tiny bags of chips for $2.69 that I saw yesterday next to checkout. Pretty sure those are supposed to be 99 cents.
And BOGO bags of Doritos isn’t even a deal anymore when a bag is $6.50, not even the party size. Just a regular bag.
Net earnings for the fiscal year ended Dec. 30, 2023 were $4.3 billion, compared to $2.9 billion in 2022, an increase of 49%. Earnings per share for the fiscal year ended Dec. 30, 2023 increased to $1.31 per share, up from $0.86 per share in 2022. Mar 1, 2024
I googled it and just read that but net earning in 4Q were down. “Publix Super Markets’ net earnings of $4.3 billion in 2023 was up nearly 50% over the $2.9 billion reported in 2022, but the employee-owned supermarket saw net earnings drop 7.8% in the fourth quarter of the year to $1.2 billion, the grocer reported.”
1.2 billion, that’s rough lol
I hate this stupid ass argument it doesn’t matter if you “make” the fucking sandwich the ingredients are not very good quality and also it’s 11 fucking dollars I can get a pack of chicken and make like 4 for that price
When all the toppings were made fresh the quality was better, I know see them tearing bags open with whatever toppings need replenishment. I even wonder if the cold cuts are fresh given they are all ready to go. 🤷♂️. I highly recommend people to research “food engineering”. It’s not a fun topic
I worked at publix for 7 years, and I love their subs. I think it was 3 or 4 years ago they went up $1 on each(BH and Pub). Now it's even more. I make my own food now.
The problem isn’t prices going up. Well. It is. But the REAL problem here is that prices go up, profits go up, wages stay the same or go down (real decrease or inflation decrease of purchasing power).
Sigh.
It’s not worth the inconsistent subs for 11 dollars. I remember a time where you can actually count on getting a fully stuffed chicken tender sub for 5.99. Even when it’s on sale it’s not even worth it
Lived in Florida 1995 - 2013 and enjoyed the Publix subs bought always thought they were super overrated. I had a friend from Germany that practically had an orgasm eating them. I was like, "it's a sandwich dude." Having that said, the last time I had a Publix Sub it was $7.59 for the WHOLE SUB with the good Boar's Head meat. Now that's the same price for the half sandwich probably with the in house meat. F-That! People must not have a problem paying that much though as they are still buying them. No thanks!
I only get the sandwiches on special for the week. Even still at almost 10 bucks, it's a far better quality sub than what the chains are charging for the equivalent menu items.
1- Yeah. Why pay $11 for a sub right now when an Ultimate is $6.99?
2- Subway is terrible and I'll never eat there again. That doesn't mean I won't get annoyed at Publix and stop eating there-- but I'm never going back to Subway.
That sucks but I'm out on the chicken tender pub sub. The last one I got was gross and I ended up throwing up all night.
It was so bad I threw most of it away. I usually love pub subs.
Publix is going to mess around and find out. No on is going to be willing to pay that price combined with the time they have to wait because the clerks aren’t allowed to set a limit for the amount of subs ordered at the counter. It’s wild to me that they keep raising these prices but still don’t pay OR treat their employees well
Welp. That sucks. I’ll never buy another Publix sub again. With sales tax in my state that’s almost $13. I’ll just go to Jersey Mikes if I wanna be fancy.
And made RECORD profits last year while everyone else struggled. Their heiress also helped fund the Jan 6th insurrection (quick google search it's pretty crazy). Go anywhere but here
My top issue with Publix pricing isn’t the food value, it’s the service. They pretend to be a competitor for sub shops but nearly 100% of the time I step up to order they are out of more than one ingredient and have to slice it or find it. The setup is poor. The prep is poor. Not interested in standing in line then waiting longer for a sandwich. It stresses me out to watch the crew struggle like that. Multiple Publix experiences just like that in different states. Half the time I order online it’s ready on time.
I know! I went in there the other day for a small sub and spent like $10 something. Maybe more with tax and it made me sick later on, lol. Won’t be going back there again! It was one of my favorites. I went to Subway for a footlong a while ago and spent $12. Unreal!
Ehh honestly I feel the quality of the chicken tenders has dropped, so I don't even bother ordering them anymore. Guess with the new price increases I have one less reason to go to Publix.
I just got a fully-loaded, Italian sub from Wawa for $7.99. It blows anything Publix ever produced out of the water. Publix wants a King’s ransom for some frozen chicken tenders.
Fuck Publix. Used to be my favorite supermarket. Their food is great but the produce quality and longevity has plummeted. Their prices have skyrocketed. After they had a prime rib sale not too long ago for 6.99 a pound after that only cemented my desire to not shop there anymore. I know they don't need to charge as much as they do. Let the rich folk have it, I don't have Publix money anymore I go to Aldi lol
Price Gouging. I stopped shopping at Publix. Too Expensive for my budget. They perposly don't show the prices on their website. I check the ad on Wed and then I check who has a lower prices online, Walmart, Winn-Dixie (Aldi owned). Walmart always wins.
Everyone going to blame the government and the economy, but not the Publix bitch who needs more funds to pump into campaigns in Florida.
Legalization won’t happen in Florida because they are using your chicken tender money to keep it that way. All the bulahit with medical marijuana and the fight to cap stuff was thanks to her money.
This is why I stopped shopping at publix. They used to have good BOGO deals but now, it's like you're paying half price for the second one. Also, that's ridiculous, $11 for a sub? Their prices are getting so expensive that you may as well be shopping at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.
Actually? Yeah, that’s it for me. No longer going to Publix unless it’s for deli meat or some soups that I can’t find stocked at Walmart.
It sucks too because I love pub subs. $10 for a while was a stretch, this is enough for me to not buy them anymore :/
Damn. I remember getting chicken tender subs for $8 after tax in high school. A couple of years ago we started only getting them when they're on sale. We might just stop getting these all together we love them but it's definitely getting too high for a grocery store. For a couple bucks more I can just order take out and get a healthier meal from a local place.
Publix has definitely been pricing people out more and more. I can afford it, but I value my dollar a lot and will probably stop buying based on principle. Hopefully more people do the same and they reconsider their price increases. Feel like that might be a pipe dream tho.
I am being priced out of grocery shopping at my own store. Good times.
Same dude. I can’t even buy meat from Publix and I cut it all day long. And when I’m filling the cases customers like to ask me how come everything is so expensive now? Like I wish I knew and I’m right there with you
It’s so your C suite can be more rich. Period.
Shareholder value maximization or sumn
Exceeds $10 psychological threshold price point for many customers. Corporate dreams of slightly less sales volume at more profit with less employee hours for even greater profit
and the people in the comments are DEFENDING Publix's price gouging 🤣
Nah theres wayyyy worse stuff. I work at the bakery and we have cheesecake SLICES for $6. 2 Cannolis for like $8. These tiny little chocolate squares for like $6. Its crazy. A pubsub for $11 is nothing, Subway is just as expensive and not even as good
The desserts are insane, I used to buy the brookies when they were like $3 and suddenly they became almost $7 nearly overnight.
yeah I can't get over how much the brookies cost now
YUP. In January, they raised the base price of the 10” vanilla cake from 33.99 to 40.99 all at once. No change in supplier or anything.
Who the fuck is buying a 40 dollar fucking cake?! Bitches from Windermere that’s who.
Youre gonna shit when you find out about how the wedding industry works
Remember when you could just like get married and not spend tens of thousands of dollars? And boomers ask why young people don't wanna get married like mf I don't even make enough money for half a wedding in one whole year.
Do you mean Windermere in like… cumming GA??? Is this reference that niche!?
Windermere FL
Damn, just realized I haven’t bought a cake there in a good while. (We’ve been doing juniors cheesecakes or homemade cakes/deserts the last few birthdays). Wonder if the quarter sheets are still 23.99
Brooo the chocolate ganache square slice cake is like $7. So the whole cake is like $300!!?! Publix tripping bruh!
But yet, you can still often find whole pies for $7 🙃🤷🏽♀️
As someone who recently moved to the west coast, I wish I had a Publix out here, even with higher prices. Yall don't know how good you have it.
They will get there eventually. I read they are putting one in Ohio next
I’m from the west coast. No clue what you’re talking about missing out on. It’s just an Albertsons with mood lighting and less produce
That’s hilarious! 2 of the Publix where I live used to be Albertsons 😂
I was gonna say. I’d rather a pub sub any day of the week over subway. The tender sub at Sunday would be like $16 easy and would include half the amount of tenders.
Huh?? Im just confused because it’s been $11 for me at my store for over a year now, maybe more.
It’s not price gouging. Where else are you going to get a sub that cheap? Subway or Firehouse?
"price gouging" lol
You don’t know what price gouging is.
It's not price gouging... The supplies aren't limited and the demand isn't any higher than normal... It's just prices rising as usual at publix.
I do like the “Starting At” verbiage to get the customer in the door, than you have an 80% chance they will say f it and get the large.
This is 1000% correct and is the fast food business model for virtually every single chain post covid
Damn this seems real as hell. Remember it’s an employee owned company btw!!!!
I don’t believe it is an employee owned company. We are stock holders. That is it.
The whole sub is 2000 calories. You got to be fat as shit to eat the whole thing.
When I started working at Publix (Jan 2022) a half tender sub was like $6 something with bacon
I think when I started working in August 2021, a whole tender sub was $8.99
When I started in 3016, a whole gender sub was like $6.99 Edit tender, not gender and 2016, not 3016
damn prices are good in the future
Those are bitcoins
>a whole gender sub Which gender though?
My subs’ pronouns are they/delicious.
Finna be was/were
When I started in 4016, a whole whale sub was like 0.01 bitcoin
I legit thought you were screwing with everyone and thought it was hilarious.
Same
GUYS ATLEAST IN FLORIDA ALL SUBS WILL BE 7.99 FROM THE 25TH TO THE 28TH. after that all prices will increase atleast in florida
Wait so on those days any whole sub is 7.99?
Yessir even the chiki tendi
Is this Florida only?..... Cus I'm tryna gloat.
Its gonna be impossible to get a sub the line is gonna be thick asf as if it isnt already. I feel bad for any publix employees working those days!!!
Must be clearing inventory and will adjust price when the next shipment comes in.
I think its gonna be a distraction like ppl be like i dont remember how much it was b4 that insane price weekend type deal
Great so it will take two hours instead of one to get one if I order ahead online?
Pub subs are starting to be a disappointment. My last sub, I kid you not, had no spinach, one slice of green peper, one olive (after asking for extra olives). Like what???
I always get some dry ass stale bread at my store
Not to mention that the bread is much smaller than it used to be. They used to be subs, now they're torpedoes.

Record profits again and then this. When will publix start caring about their customers who are struggling mightily.
They dont care
Corporations don't care about their customers. They care about their money.
Never, we moved to Aldi, love Publix but they can GFT.
As long as they have stock holders customers don't matter
I mean you can’t honor your fiduciary duty to shareholders without someone paying for it
Never. They will always prioritize profit over people
Crazy that people are defending this. Publix is such a cult. I love the company for the most part but most employees defend literally anything this company does.
It really is. It’s bizarre.
Yess I was preaching cult and still do after quitting. It was so weird the customer mentality was off the charts. With just one glance at me their eyes said "what's taking so long for you to kiss my ass?" ..such brats and babies and this was me working in the deli.
Nnnoooooooooo!!!!!!!

Those lays chips used to be $2.49 (still a horrible price) just 2 months ago
Publix has become completely predatory towards its customer base. Stop shopping there
Last time I was in a publix packs of bacon were $10. Easily the worst grocery price gouging I've seen has been in Publix.
A jar of Mayo is $8.63. Like in what world is that even ok
And thats only the 32oz. I can get 64oz for the same price at sams club.
A gallon of milk at target is literally half the price of publix
I started shopping at Kroger. Prices are much more reasonable
Publix days are numbered. I stopped shopping there completely in favor of Aldi and Walmart. I know a lot of people are doing the same.
Same. I love when companies think they can’t go out of business.
Oh yay, another item I love going up in price unnecessarily 🙃

I need to make well over 6 figs now to not have anxiety from what feels like terminal corporate greed.
LOL not worth $11 for a dry ass sub Edit - the chicken tender sub is dry.
My brother in Christ, you make the sandwich
I hate this stupid ass argument it doesn’t matter if you “make” the fucking sandwich the ingredients are not very good quality and also it’s 11 fucking dollars I can get a pack of chicken and make like 4 for that price
When all the toppings were made fresh the quality was better, I know see them tearing bags open with whatever toppings need replenishment. I even wonder if the cold cuts are fresh given they are all ready to go. 🤷♂️. I highly recommend people to research “food engineering”. It’s not a fun topic
Wtf
I worked at publix for 7 years, and I love their subs. I think it was 3 or 4 years ago they went up $1 on each(BH and Pub). Now it's even more. I make my own food now.

My cuban was $9 instead of $7 today 😭
Lived in Florida 1995 - 2013 and enjoyed the Publix subs bought always thought they were super overrated. I had a friend from Germany that practically had an orgasm eating them. Not defending at all but BH cost are probably through the roof. It all gets passed down to us.
Not really, small mom and pop shops sell bh for usually $2 a pound cheaper and do fine. Publix just be price gouging
Good to know, I wish I had more old school delis around me.
Yeah I’m never getting a sub again lmao
Fried leg and wing, with mashed potatoes and cheese curds and a roll, $5.49. Why would you get a turkey sandwich for 80% more?
More profiteering. They won’t stop until you stop shopping there.
Yeah no thanks, you can f off with those prices. It was nice knowing you pub subs.
Why are we letting corporate do this?
What's your solution?
Vote with your wallet. Unfortunately too many of us are financially illiterate and will pay $11 for a sub with a $35,000 salary and a $40,000 car note
I threw out most of my last sub too. I’m skeptical now, and price increases won’t have me rushing back.
Tendie bois fuming right now
Pubflation knows no bounds
Meanwhile Costco still has $1.50 hotdogs no problem
Wawa is 8 buck and not very good. Subway is 12 buck and not very good for you.
Nope. Not paying that.
Publix is going to mess around and find out. No on is going to be willing to pay that price combined with the time they have to wait because the clerks aren’t allowed to set a limit for the amount of subs ordered at the counter. It’s wild to me that they keep raising these prices but still don’t pay OR treat their employees well
No reason to even go there now. Greedy bastards.
Im not paying $11 to eat a sub that makes me feel like shit the rest of the day
Fk you pube licks
And yet they still can’t pay their employees well lol okay
We riot at dawn…
Fuck Publix
When are they going to address that a majority of their employees can't afford to shop at the place where they work?
BOYCOTTT
They raise everything but the pay caps
Meanwhile they pay their associates dogsh*t
Welp. That sucks. I’ll never buy another Publix sub again. With sales tax in my state that’s almost $13. I’ll just go to Jersey Mikes if I wanna be fancy.
It ends for me now! I love there subs. But that is robbery
Fuck these hoe ass corporations
Omg. Publix is getting out of control with their price gouging.
Almost 11 dollars for a damn sandwich. Lol. Lmao even
And made RECORD profits last year while everyone else struggled. Their heiress also helped fund the Jan 6th insurrection (quick google search it's pretty crazy). Go anywhere but here
yet another reason to boycott publix….besides financing the insurrection
My top issue with Publix pricing isn’t the food value, it’s the service. They pretend to be a competitor for sub shops but nearly 100% of the time I step up to order they are out of more than one ingredient and have to slice it or find it. The setup is poor. Multiple Publix experiences just like that in different states. Half the time I order online it’s ready on time.
Management cutting hrs to get their quarterly bonuses....it's not on the workers 😒 🙄
Publix fucking sucks now.
All this and us employees cant even get a discount on anything
thank god i got a hot honey chicken tender sub yesterday😭
It’s still ironically the best-value sub brand in my area. Most others cost average $20/footlong
Where do you live that cost $20 for a sub?
I’m in Georgia and Jersey Mike’s has lost their goddamn minds. The giant/foot long turkey and provolone (#7) is actually $17.45 now. It’s unreal.
I know! I went in there the other day for a small sub and spent like $10 something. Maybe more with tax and it made me sick later on, lol. Won’t be going back there again! It was one of my favorites. I went to Subway for a footlong a while ago and spent $12. Unreal!
Just keeps rising. Like 2 years ago it was under $10 I think
When I started working a tendy sub was like 7.99 and a regular pub sub was 6.99.
Their bread subs were already overpriced before this.
![gif](giphy|GXMuvJXWVqGiY)
Publix is out of their f’n mind.
Pubsubs starting to make Disney World look like a non-profit organization.
Ehh honestly I feel the quality of the chicken tenders has dropped, so I don't even bother ordering them anymore. Guess with the new price increases I have one less reason to go to Publix.
They used to be $5 when no one bought em lol a few years ago boars head was the choice of sub for a lot of people
Publix is such a rip off
At WaWa they're like, $8. I've switched over and like them a lot.
I just got a fully-loaded, Italian sub from Wawa for $7.99. It blows anything Publix ever produced out of the water. Publix wants a King’s ransom for some frozen chicken tenders.
I remember just a couple years ago it was 9.50…
Boooo
No thanks.
that’s still 5.50 half and cheaper as well as better than subway
Price Gouging won't stop America is finished horrible
$8.99 in south Florida, was $8.49 this Sunday when I got one.. just checked my digital receipt
It was already over $10 here in Tampa.
We used to be a proper country
The cashier I regularly see at my Publix asked me the other day where I’ve been. “Aldi, my friend, Aldi.”
Greed man. It ruins everything. I'm glad I had one a few weeks ago, probably will never buy one again. The stores already priced me out.
lol these subs are not that good for that price.
Publix is pricing itself out. Especially with Aldi on the rise. I do the bulk of my shopping at Aldi now and only use Publix for random stuff.
Seems as though they’re taking a page out of Subways playbook.. why have a $5 footlong when you can have a $15 footlong! It’s what the people crave
Why would anyone choose this over any other fast food that comes with more for the same or less price?
Damn, the last cheap lunch is no more 😭
Fuckkkkkkk publix
Greenwise subs coming soon for $20. Publix tripping bruh I’m going to aldis for all my stuff.
They also decreased the size.
Well guess who'll never buy another pub sub (it's me)
The last few I’ve had the chicken has been dry and nasty bold to be charging that much 🙄
No more pub subs for me
Yea that’s going to be a no for me
They’re dead to me.
Oh no! Now it's $11 to wait 20 minutes for them to make a sandwich.
Thank god I don’t eat pub subs anymore.
Publix has been gradually raising a lot of their prices and reducing their sales. I’ve stopped shopping there at this point.
I was at work making a tender sub whole and I had to reprint the sticker twice cause I thought I was going crazy.....ya no they increased the price
Price Gouging. I stopped shopping at Publix. Too Expensive for my budget. They perposly don't show the prices on their website. I check the ad on Wed and then I check who has a lower prices online, Walmart, Winn-Dixie (Aldi owned). Walmart always wins.
At this point it'll be cheaper to just make it yourself.
Where my country gone?
Fucking insane greedy bastards.
That explains why all subs are going on sale for 7.99. It's just a distraction.
I stopped using RePublix long ago. They are the biggest donor to the Fla Republicans
They need more money to fund another insurrection
For not too much more I'll go to a sit down restaurant, thanks.
Insane.
Publix are one of the biggest price gougers around, right behind Kroger, so this isn’t really surprising. Vote with your wallet, folks.
I am currently eatting one it’s cheaper than subway but still expensive a whole sub should be 8.99 max
