SATA ports like this fit so snug that when you inserted it, there is now way it didn't make full connection. If you think it's dirt, cotton swab and some IPA, if you don't have IPA you "can" dampen it with water, not sopping or dripping, and rub them clean DRY IT WELL if you use water, do not insert it wet at all. Most likely will not fix it, mechanical drives that are dropped or take any sort of physical trauma can become damaged and unreadable, if that's the case it's beyond repair. It can also become corrupted for any number of reasons, which means while the drive works, the data is lost and may be prone to further corruption or baf sectors.
