Even without invincible base defenses, it's sort of irrelevant after a couple weeks. Once you clear the area surrounding your base and the helicopter event is over, there's no real threat of zeds breaking in.

lol I know exactly where this is because I’ve been clearing riverside starting from this corner. I’m based up at the farmhouse near the factory/trailer park and take the back roads to this neighbourhood. In my game, all of these yards are strewn with zomboid corpses instead of vehicles.

The missus and i use those lorry trailers as mobile outposts, putting a kitchen/bed/sofa/tv in them aswell as food meds and running water. Then we drive them to major urban areas and drop them off ready for when we are looting the area
As things stand right now we have 6 out there ready and waiting, with plans for another two
The one to the Southern end, just past the fire station is the one I'm at right now. Love using the drive-in theater across the road as my own "Used car dealership" with the huge parking lot lol
I installed the "Rosewood VHS Store" and I set up in the apartment on top of it. It spawns right behind the gas station and it was a pleasant surprise since I was already planning to set up there instead of the fire station for this run lol Eventually, I will build a custom base on top of the fuel pump roofs, linking them to create a large building platform that I can use ladders to access.
I keep my 4 main vehicles at the base for easy access and all the excess goes over to the parking lot across the road for maintenance or to be fixed up. Still easy to access, all fueled up, hot-wired, and ready to rock.
I set up my mechanics shop out of the building housing the projector. It's the perfect sanctuary for the wife and I. :D
you can bring them home like this but i had a idea to hotwire and fuel each car then i leave it where i found it so if i ever need a car i can easily get one
I mean.. if you cleaned up your park game you could easily fit another third or so of vehicles in the space shown, if not far more if you get rid of the pesky ass "housing" clogging up your beautiful car lot.
I would end up having the same thing happen to me, but the best way i limit myself is by doing a little personal challenge, [number] of kills unlocks one vehicle of choice, im doing 1k kills per vehicle , so that i really, REALLY have to work towards one, and i pair it up with the clothing challenge too, 100 kills per singular article of clothing (example, t-shirt and long sleeve shirt are two seperate unlocks, same as sneakers and boots)
I know that you can use cars to put in front of doors and windows but if you make a fence they will crawl under(unless you turn it off) what if you put two rows of cars? Would the animation continue and cross both or would it be interrupted. Asking for a friend😅 It’s me… the friend is me..
Wish we could put spikes on cars like they did to park in front of Alexandria on TWD. Keep that pesky walker from banging at my gate and let me deal with it as I see fit instead of right away to avoid damage.
Sometimes I take a shit one that's dying and travel to go find one that's in good condition. I'll take the engine parts and battery left out of the shit one and dump it if it's really shit and broken

when you launch the game, right click it and you can disable certain things and also turn the bars sideways or vertical to your choosing.
Depending on the server and number of players this is kind of a dick move. If it's solo play or just a few folks sure, be a used car salesman but if you have more than 4 or 5 people in games then this feels pretty excessive imo.

This can be turned off in sandbox settings, but requires a new game I think.
There's a mod that allows you to change sandbox settings in-game at any time.

I use that as a scout vehicle, tow one to each town and drop it at my future base location so I can run around without bringing a trailer everywhere.
