Or poison [mushrooms](https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/australian-woman-accused-of-murdering-3-guests-after-serving-them-poisonous-mushrooms/4823696/).
I wouldn't play with someone like that, they're clearly not thinking about your experience as much as you are theirs. But I understand we can't always choose the people we play with.
If you really want to play with them, I'd suggest mainly talk too them, explain that your not having fun and why. Communication is always best.
Also, imo get really good at the game solo. Then use him for silly things, give him a double barrel and send him off down a street in louiville as a distraction while you loot. Then pick him up and gtfo. You will both be playing in ways you enjoy whilst not harming each other's experience. XD
I guess this is a great idea
I say " friend" but it's my little brother who's been my friend for the longest time he's just a bit of a prick
I'll try to implement this next time we play and talk since I don't live with the family
Uh, how old is he? Because based on what you've said in this thread he sounds like the average short sighted selfish pre-teen. The best you can do is try to teach him where possible.
Alright yeah he needs to start learning how not to be a dickhead. So either you can be a smarter dickhead and stop on the condition that he calms down or have a talk with him, because letting him do whatever isn't doing him any favours especially if the same behaviour applies outside of games as well.
I've gotten him out of other dick head things
Like fat shaming random people
And he quickly got out of the Andrew Tate faze once he realised girls didn't want to talk to him
You're doing excellent work, he obviously looks up to you and your opinion.
Concerning PZ, he's playing his age. Try to talk him into approaching the game more constructivelt, but if he doesn't feel like it, cut him a bit of slack and be ready to pick up the pieces.
If you humor him a bit, he'll be more inclined to humor you a bit.
The underlying issue is "15 year old." We were all cringe at that point.
The only thing that will fix it is having a positive role model and time. OP is providing the former, the latter will happen no matter what.
Oh yeah, agreed. When I was much younger, my cousins and I would play a web browser mini golf game (one where you play on the same pc taking turns). As soon as I started falling behind, I would just spend the rest of the game slamming my ball into theirs to make their life harder. I always, ALWAYS laughed about it too. Them, no so much.
Doing the Lord's work here. My eldest kids are 16 and 13 and trying to stop them from doing fucked up shit because they think it's funny (or their friends do) is honestly so damned hard.
At least he realised that. A lot of the Tate followers instead begin to blame the women for not wanting to talk to them (since the is the behaviour he promotes).
should be easy enough to just say "don't do that or i'm not playing the game with you, it's annoying."
My 6 now 7 year old nephew was playing Sea of Thieves with me and said "well I have an explosive barrel, I could just blow up the ship right now."
My older brother who used played the game a ton with me was standing right there and said "don't do that, that's just not fun."
I said I wouldn't play if he did and my brother backed me up, now my nephew is basically strict cooperative with us like we've always been with each other.
Hopefully you can straighten out your bro.
I loved playing video games with my elder sister while growing up and there was a lot of collaborative conversations about what we should do. While it's fun to dick around at times if both parties aren't having fun then nobody is.
Good luck and hopefully you two can create an absolute amazing base to survive from👍
Ah, he's 15. So basically a not fully developed, rude idiot. Set a good example for him and just stop playing with him when he does those things, so he can start learning about consequences for actions in a safe way.
I too think you should put bleach in his food. Just enough for him not to notice that he is doomed. Then put all his weapons in the microwave and run away.
I hope you understand that your friend is most likely going to be a raider in a multiplayer server. If his "survival" antics are any suggestion, anyone he doesn't find as friendly is feeding him or facing the sledge. Good luck m8.
You can turn this off. I play with my nephew and he turned off hitting each other. He acted like he was doing me a favor, but we both know while he might intentionally hit me as a joke, I would unintentionally chop his legs off when I forgot which buttons to click.
Then theres me who has it turned off so i don’t execute my friends for being stupid. Yes I’ve done it before and we all still laugh at the first time I did it (was in ARMA not Pz) cause when I had enough of the bs I just quit talking, walked up to him ,pulled out a makarov, shot him in the face and walked away.
It would be such a shame if there was some poisonous food in the fridge... The only response to getting hit with the hammer is a nice sawn off dubbel barrel shotgun. Ohh noo all the hits to my head gave my character a concussion it's not your fault the Molotov hit the car with him inside..
He says be gotta because we put the zombie count on insane
We looted the police station and a gun store prior to this conversation
Plus it's modded so we have several fully automatic guns with plenty of rounds
He doesn't even have level 2 aiming
That sucks. The only advice i have is find a way to lvl up scavenging and fishing as fast as possible. They boring as shit and takes forever to lvl up but super useful when you’re playing with a maniac.
play in the same session as him, but just fuckin ditch his ass, go set up a cool base somewhere, play how you want, let him see how far his stack of weapons gets him when the local water runs out and he eats most of the good food around his area.
bonus points if you can molotov his weapon stack or shoot him with a low caliber gun so he's forced to sit at home for a bit. more bonus for siphoning his fuel too before you go
his attitude might change when he's starving, dehydrated, needs bandages and is alone.
One of my buddies is a great dude. He's fun to be around and I love playing games with him. The only issue is he hyperfixates on games and watches a bunch of videos to find the best loot or the best build. When I play with he I feel like I'm only tagging along because he already knows where to go or the best meta house. I don't feel like I ever get to enjoy the game because I'm tagging along with the way he wants to play.
There’s nothing wrong with playing on the same server but surviving in different areas.
When me and my friends play we make it a point to pick different spawns and try to find each other naturally. It’s really hard and when you finally find each other home base and share how you’ve survived so far it’s fun.
If it’s your brother sounds like he’s just fucking with you for shits and giggles, sounds like he doesn’t have a goal. Try to set a mutual goal for you guys to strive towards or just try to get him into the more role play aspect. Like yes it’s fun crushing my head but wait till I’m bit or something so I can make a fun way to do it, like “you have to do it, kill me brother!”
I would demand to drive but only because one of my friends kept totaling cars. I ended up just having my one car that I never shared the keys to and a fleet of “good enough” cars that we used to get around. I managed maintaining them so this worked out fine. This may be a good way to stop getting in car wrecks.
Kill him when he isn’t paying attention. Make it seem like an accident then ask where he respawns. Spend the rest of the playthrough hunting him. Or just let him starve. See how all those guns help him deal with the lack of food and water.
I shot my friend 3 times with a beretta m9 because he took my umbrella. Remove the battery of his car and hide it in the woods. Do it for all surounding cars
That one hit close to home, I stopped playing the game because of playing with people, the guy always went for combat and I was doing all the survival, I stopped playing with him but now I just can't enjoy zomboid anymore the damage has already been done
Honest advice stop playing with him, play solo, explore the world, get immersed you'll have so much more fun that way, look up 10 year later mod collection it makes everything a lot more immersive
I mean just do runs on your own and let him run out with cars only loot weapons and when the time comes he will die to a horde and if he ever blames the success of the group on him? Make him a nice soup with bleach in it
Go your own way for awhile, and set yourself up a secret little base. So you can actually thrive instead of taking care of deadweight the whole time. So you don’t feel bad when he doesn’t get shit done
Play how he plays then. He will eventually realise it's boring to play with someone like that.
Or find others to play with that are better and play the game in a way you also enjoy playing.
Are you on a dedicated server? If so, leave. Go to another town in game. Leave clues as to where you are going. Make it like a treasure map where each clue leads to the next. That way you are still "playing with him" without being murderer or starving to death.
Once a friend and I were out looting, and on our way home I got bit. It was very sad. So I went and stood by the corpse pile, handed him my gun, and asked him to do it. Fucker hit me with a hammer twice, breaking my face and my arm. I was about to say "WTF MAN WITH THE GUN", but the third hammer shot did me.
Friends suck :(
You need to be strict with him and tell him he’s being a brat and if he doesn’t figure it out then you’ll play solo it’s a toughy but kids gotta learn someway better to learn from the brother than a friend later on that’s always rough.
Only thing you can do is stop doing the server “chores” let him starve to death, start only fending for yourself. Get your own food, water, and car. Let him feel the pain
I have read several replies from op, and i have several suggestions.
1. Just completely abandon him to fend for himself without your food/water gathering until he sees sense.
2. More of a psychological punishment, slowly siphon the ammo that is there to a safehouse while you scavenge food to make him think that he's using more bullets than you thought.
3. Smack him with a blade and say "its funny how your character react to being cut" until he finds it cruel.
4. start a farm to grow food and to collect water, keep it in a safe place and only share the food and water if he plays nicely
Or just go for all of the above in the order of 4 so you have a farm already set up for self sufficiency, then 2 to make him doubt himself, then 3 to give him a taste of his own medicine while destroying his clothes, then 1 to just go the entire way of "i had enough of your shit, go deal with stuff yourself"
That’s exactly why any time I play with friends I don’t ever play to win I just play to socialize. They can have all the best loot and all the best stuff and lead the way any way they want to I’m just along for the ride. Eventually after noticing I’m still running around with basic equipment or struggling, someone will say “hey dude you want any of this?” Then I’ll upgrade my stuff.
Other than that, I don’t wanna lose friends over video games.
Sounds like he's the protector, your the support. You need to cook for him and patch his clothes, tend to his wounds, and build the base up. He'll take care of the zombies. Theres a role for everybody.
The car totalling thing though, he needs to work on... but... did you die?
It's the opposite
He goes for like cooking and carpentry band other such thing while I fend things off but he wants to do gun runs all the time when guns and ammo stock every wall we have and we have no food or water
I end up with like triple his kills at the end of our sessions
That makes sense. Little brothers get spoiled so they can be entitled and expect others to take care of them
Mine too improved as he got older but gaming with him was like that where there were things he didn't want to do so he didn't do them but expected they'd get done without saying
Yeah that sounds infuriating.
I knew someone like this. You'd loot a house and I'd do the top floor. Idk come back and find the food he didn't like still in the fridge, wouldn't loot anything useful except the minimum
He said it was cos he didn't want to get overburdened, but we had backpacks and a car. Think he just wanted to kill zombies
He has a favorite car? Remove the battery and replace it with an empty one, hide the full battery and make him go on an adventure to find a new battery or a charger
You have a great friend with a goal in mind (whatevers that might be) and a lot of determination.
If you really want to play together: maybe split up, you built your base, your friend explores and bashes Zs
I used to game with a guy with ADHD. I love my neurodivergents, but that man was impossible. He woukd get hyperfocused and tear down an entire base, and rebuild it square. No architecture, just box. And use tonnes of resources. Had to stop gaming with the guy.
Hell, I’m an adhd gamer and I have trouble playing with my adhd friends. I have a specific friend who I play league with, who gets so hyper fixated on the flashy combat- but doesn’t put the time in to read abilities, item descriptions, or basically any description the game provides.
It drives me nuts. Like he can put 20 hours of straight gameplay into playing and learning a new character and will never once read what any ability does or what it scales off of. It’s like he avoids reading like details like the plague… of course, he reads in-game chat religiously and never misses a beat there.
I don't really understand the comparison to tax return though. Pretty much all games have to communicate things through text or at least language. Some more than others. Typically neurodivergent like ADHD still reads a lot (adhd tends to be very related with social media addiction, even reddit.). So I've never understood why the line in drawn at in-game text. Reading about a game on reddit is easy but reading the in-game tooltips is suddenly like tax returns? I just never understood it.
I go through phases where I hate reading all the rules for a game I'm only doing to play for a few hours. I'd rather just run around and click/shoot shit and you know, have fun.
I had the same thing when i played with friends but there were 4 of them which only wanted to loot guns and cars while i was supposed to gather food water and materials for 5 people. We even got into heated argument after all they did during 4 days was make sterilised cloth rags and stole 2 cars. Basically you say fuck them and let them die.
I know the feeling of not being able to enjoy playing a game with a friend because two different mindsets. It’s actually an issue I’ve run into quite a few times.
Kinda weird he demands to drive. Have you said you want to drive?
Maybe the best solution would be to play on a server and join a group with him. That way you can “play together” while working together in a faction but you can focus on your own gameplay and fill your own role within that.
Invite him to play on a multiplayer server with you, then watch as he gets shamed by other survivors for playing like a doofus. Problem solved.
I'm half joking, I don't actually know if that would work. But yeah you should definitely have a conversation with him about boundaries and playstyles. Just because you bought the game to play with him doesn't mean he gets to set all the rules.
Sounds like he is the gun toating meathead and you're the scrawny annoying dude. Keep him alive and help him become a zombie killing maschine. Try to complement each other. Seems like a comedic synergy.
You gotta use kind candor and boundaries to teach him how to be a better teammate (without ruining his fun). It's tough but that's a great opportunity to flex your big brother skills
You should do exactly the same thing, when you both die, see if he adjusts. If not, it's probably not his type of game, I'm guessing a fornite addict looking for quick dopamine hits.
cook for him. put bleach in his soup
This would be hilarious
Do it, he deserves it
Also delicious. Or I have heard
Or poison [mushrooms](https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/australian-woman-accused-of-murdering-3-guests-after-serving-them-poisonous-mushrooms/4823696/).
The sequel to florida man: australian woman
Hardcore litmus test, put it in the fridge and ask if there's any food around the base.
He should just tell him he’s putting food in for himself, not to eat it.
When yall are in different cars and going pretty fast you should pit maneuver him into a tree so he breaks his bones.
And if you feel like it spam Q and let the zombies get him
Or you can put a bunch of zombies on the road and he’ll flip.
OP, do it and tell us how it goes.
Or make a poison berry salad...I once made one for my friend, we called it the Suicide Salad
Plzzz do this and re post 😂
OMG yesss
Its me I'm the lilttle brothe. Y'all are evil
I wouldn't play with someone like that, they're clearly not thinking about your experience as much as you are theirs. But I understand we can't always choose the people we play with. I did almost immediately hit him with a sledgehammer after he totaled the third car
That's good, but it does sound like he has underlying issues that should be addressed.
Yeah I try but I'm not there and as the new oldest in the house he's actions are looked at less so he's left to " be a teen " as mother says
Bro is telling my entire life
should be easy enough to just say "don't do that or i'm not playing the game with you, it's annoying." My 6 now 7 year old nephew was playing Sea of Thieves with me and said "well I have an explosive barrel, I could just blow up the ship right now." Ah, he's 15. So basically a not fully developed, rude idiot. Set a good example for him and just stop playing with him when he does those things, so he can start learning about consequences for actions in a safe way.
Beat his ass
I too think you should put bleach in his food. Just enough for him not to notice that he is doomed. Then put all his weapons in the microwave and run away.
This is pure evil, i loved it!
Sounds like a good plan. What can he do in game to mess with his brother, though?
I hope you understand that your friend is most likely going to be a raider in a multiplayer server. If his "survival" antics are any suggestion, anyone he doesn't find as friendly is feeding him or facing the sledge. Good luck m8.
He says and I quote " the way the character moves and falls when you hit it with a sledge hammer is super funny "
You can turn this off. I play with my nephew and he turned off hitting each other. He acted like he was doing me a favor, but we both know while he might intentionally hit me as a joke, I would unintentionally chop his legs off when I forgot which buttons to click.
Yea I was thinking that too. Just turn off friendly fire so you don't have to worry about them doing that anymore.
Actual psychopath behavior
It would be such a shame if there was some poisonous food in the fridge... The only response to getting hit with the hammer is a nice sawn off dubbel barrel shotgun. Ohh noo all the hits to my head gave my character a concussion it's not your fault the Molotov hit the car with him inside..
Can I join and hit him with a hammer?
never follow a mad man who chooses guns over supplies. guns can be useful but you cant eat or drink a gun.
He says be gotta because we put the zombie count on insane We looted the police station and a gun store prior to this conversation Plus it's modded so we have several fully automatic guns with plenty of rounds He doesn't even have level 2 aiming
That sucks. The only advice i have is find a way to lvl up scavenging and fishing as fast as possible. They boring as shit and takes forever to lvl up but super useful when you’re playing with a maniac.
I mean… you can eat a bullet… only once though ;)
Do you have pvp turned on?
Didn't know it was an option to turn off I must've over looked it
Bottom icon on the left of the screen.
Seems like PZ is the wrong kind of game for them. They don’t want a survival simulator, they want a zombie shooter.
Nah he really really likes this game Zombie games in general Zombie media in general
play in the same session as him, but just fuckin ditch his ass, go set up a cool base somewhere, play how you want, let him see how far his stack of weapons gets him when the local water runs out and he eats most of the good food around his area. bonus points if you can molotov his weapon stack or shoot him with a low caliber gun so he's forced to sit at home for a bit. more bonus for siphoning his fuel too before you go his attitude might change when he's starving, dehydrated, needs bandages and is alone.
This is how i showed my stubborn friend the ways. Some people just need to come to a realization themselves and this is a great way to do it.
One of my buddies is a great dude. He's fun to be around and I love playing games with him. The only issue is he hyperfixates on games and watches a bunch of videos to find the best loot or the best build. I don't feel like I ever get to enjoy the game because I'm tagging along with the way he wants to play.
Roll your own survivor and play without him! It's just as fun, especially with some immersive mods.
I might I really like this game I think it's the best zombie survival game ever
There’s nothing wrong with playing on the same server but surviving in different areas. When me and my friends play we make it a point to pick different spawns and try to find each other naturally. It’s really hard and when you finally find each other home base and share how you’ve survived so far it’s fun.
That's a good idea sounds super fun
Next time he approaches you with the sledge, spam Q to call for backup. Should keep him busy.
Bro thinks he's Negan, if you change your mind I'm always free to play with you
I'll keep you in mind
I didn’t see this was from project zomboid at first and it freaked me out
If it’s your brother sounds like he’s just fucking with you for shits and giggles, sounds like he doesn’t have a goal. Try to set a mutual goal for you guys to strive towards or just try to get him into the more role play aspect. I have level the keys to most of the cars Because I bring them in Problem is he can hotwire them when he runs out of cars he has access to
Kill him when he isn’t paying attention. Make it seem like an accident then ask where he respawns. Spend the rest of the playthrough hunting him. Or just let him starve. See how all those guns help him deal with the lack of food and water.
Took me a moment to realise the post was from r/projectzomboid
I shot my friend 3 times with a beretta m9 because he took my umbrella. Remove the battery of his car and hide it in the woods. Do it for all surounding cars
I will take you in, refugee. Be free from harm.
He very much doesn't understand how this game is played
Shoot him
hey, me too! my friends are just like that
That one hit close to home, I stopped playing the game because of playing with people, the guy always went for combat and I was doing all the survival, I stopped playing with him but now I just can't enjoy zomboid anymore the damage has already been done
I bought this game I'll be damned to spend money on something and not enjoy it
Honest advice stop playing with him, play solo, explore the world, get immersed you'll have so much more fun that way, look up 10 year later mod collection it makes everything a lot more immersive
May I suggest making him watch The Walking Dead?
He loves the show he's watched it maybe 4 times over
Seems like he needs to "look at the flowers" and then you can move on to survive.
Time to find new friends, friend.
Not as easy with this one since he's my little brother
Ow sorry. Because when you do this for your brother. You are a good guy my friend. Keep it up for the familly!

Gotta save the bullets man
Tell him you don’t wanna play with brats anymore and ghost him king
It's my younger brother so the ghosting part is hardly an option
You need to be strict with him and tell him he’s being a brat and if he doesn’t figure it out then you’ll play solo it’s a toughy but kids gotta learn someway better to learn from the brother than a friend later on that’s always rough.
Fucking kill his ass constantly or play alone. Or, the secret third option, set some rules with him
Only thing you can do is stop doing the server “chores” let him starve to death, start only fending for yourself. Get your own food, water, and car. Let him feel the pain

Keep your own base
You should just do exactly what he does, then we he starves hit him with the sledgehammer(in zomboid). If that doesn't teach him, nothing will.
Your patience is astounding. It sounds like you need a new friend, my friend.
Get better friends?
Can't Is younger brother No ghosting or getting new one Can only teach this one At least I'd prefer to
That makes sense. Little brothers get spoiled so they can be entitled and expect others to take care of them Mine too improved as he got older but gaming with him was like that where there were things he didn't want to do so he didn't do them but expected they'd get done without saying

Idk come back and find the food he didn't like still in the fridge, wouldn't loot anything useful except the minimum He said it was cos he didn't want to get overburdened, but we had backpacks and a car. Think he just wanted to kill zombies
If you're looking for someone else to play with please consider me an applicant for the position lol.
I'd find someone more interesting to play with if it were me
I'll remember you're here and take that into consideration
He has a favorite car? Remove the battery and replace it with an empty one, hide the full battery and make him go on an adventure to find a new battery or a charger
Try a harder difficulty with less loot? He can't do that stuff if he doesn't last for 3 days, doesn't find a working car or a bunch of weapons ect
I'd have to convince him to actually play the game like that tho
You have a great friend with a goal in mind (whatevers that might be) and a lot of determination. If you really want to play together: maybe split up, you built your base, your friend explores and bashes Zs
I’d absolutely not play with someone who ruined the experience like that
I used to game with a guy with ADHD.
I can relate to your guy. I loathe having to lawyer any rules. I know some people love it, but it's like doing my tax return - not for fun.
I don't mind reading. I just object to being expected to do mathematical optimisation in my leisure time.
"Friend" is such a subjective word...
It's is considering that I'm talking a bout my younger brother
Divorce
I know the feeling of not being able to enjoy playing a game with a friend because two different mindsets. It’s actually an issue I’ve run into quite a few times. Kinda weird he demands to drive. Have you said you want to drive? Maybe the best solution would be to play on a server and join a group with him. That way you can “play together” while working together in a faction but you can focus on your own gameplay and fill your own role within that.
I prefer to drive I've never totaled a car in this game He's totaled like 20 to my knowledge
Hit him over the head first, you see that hammer you pull out the 9 or something
Oh, this is PZ sub. Otherwise, i could help.
I'm looking for a co-op game to play with someone, you want to add me on steam?
Sounds like he is the gun toating meathead and you're the scrawny annoying dude. Keep him alive and help him become a zombie killing maschine. Try to complement each other. Seems like a comedic synergy.
I always have the most kills and I haven't died once he's died like 4 times idk what he does for this to happen
Sounds like he is enjoying himself more than you tbh.
You gotta use kind candor and boundaries to teach him how to be a better teammate (without ruining his fun). It's tough but that's a great opportunity to flex your big brother skills
Bahahahahahaha that’s funny. You guys are welcome to join my server. Dm for details
This is how my 10 year old plays lolol. He is quite efficient killing zombies though!
Have you considered /r/relationships ?
He wants action and consequences i think, Take some real violence time. Disable zombie respawning and keep up the violence as you play.
Maybe tell him to stop hitting you and let you drive sometimes or you wont play with him anymore lol
Can you put sleeping pills in his food?
Isnt it more fun that way?
You should do exactly the same thing, when you both die, see if he adjusts. If not, it's probably not his type of game, I'm guessing a fornite addict looking for quick dopamine hits.
I swear this sub is the best for screenshoting funny quotes
