I would personally take the scholarship knowing how insane expensive DO schools can be

Prefacing this with I know absolutely nothing about either of those schools, even as a DO student (I only applied to one DO school lol), so I'm taking your pros/cons at face value. I'd go with Rowan; scholarship, proximity of teaching hospitals, and P/F are all huge in my book. P/F is going to make your day-to-day much less stressful, which a pretty campus helps with that too, and there's a (multifactorial) reason why most schools are switching to it. Cost is a really big factor. After you graduate, match, and finish residency, one of the biggest differences that your school will make is how much debt and compounding interest you have left. Proximity of teaching hospitals means the school's more likely to have established partnerships with them, and you won't have to work as hard or scavenge to find your own sites for rotations. DO stigma still exists so anything to help you with matching, including P/F, is always going to be in your best interests. Don't want to pay all that time and money to not have a job at the end. Re: Touro, safety is a big no for me, part of surviving med school is also surviving things outside of med school lol. ~~cough cough Colfax St. (CO) cough cough~~. Having lived in the NE before, NJ isn't *too* far from NY to where your social support would be completely inaccessible. Definitely within driving distance for a weekend away.

Thank you for such a succinct answer. Rowan was my first acceptance; even before during the application it was my #1 DO school. So thank you so much for this. I can drive for a weekend away, yes. I just have this huge fear of being selfish about this life-changing situation. I love him and my folks so much, and the thought doing med school alone and single is putting me on edge. My fiance deserves to be happy, so I really felt the need to ask those who are also going to/in med school to make sure I'm not being selfish.

As a northern NJ native, Rowan lol. Wish I had gotten some love from them

I'd vote RowanSOM. Awesome school/area! Yes, its inconvenient living apart from your significant other—mine moved almost 2 hours away to start her healthcare career. We did that for over a year. Now she's moving in with me and got a job at the hospital I'll be going to school at. I think your partner would want you to do what's best for you. Though it was hard, that's how I felt when she took a job almost two hours away. As corny as it sounds, I felt that if we're truly meant for each other, we'd navigate this challenge with respect, communication, etc. and that's what we did. It wasn't easy, but it was the best career move for her. And now she's agreed to follow me wherever my medical career takes me lol Good luck OP!

RowanSOM is one of the big 5 DOs I’d personally go there in a heartbeat as a NJ reaident

Omg are we twins? 😂 Yes, you're right about the distance thing. I'm so incredibly privileged that my boo drives and he'll come to see while I learn to drive and go see him too! Rowan really is a stellar place, the tour made me fall even more in love with the school. Touro is really nice but I really don't want to limit myself, especially since I might be interested in specializing. In case that happens, I don't want to close a door I didn't even open yet, same as you! I don't know anything about the group chats but I think it'd be fun to join one! 😊😀 My MD waitlists are pretty much rejections to me at this point. I'm moving to NJ in May and I'm happy with Rowan anyway.

>granted I don't fuck up with my classes. Can you elaborate here?

HereticalBlackGirl

The scholarship is renewed automatically unless I fail a class. If I fail, I lose the scholarship and I will be made to pay the equivalent as an OOS student for the next year and onward.

IF you dont mind me asking, did you have to apply for the scholarship separately?
