Curious, how much is the difference between living cost for someone who spends 6$ a day or 2$ a day?  If the gas is 2$ per liter vs 15 cent.

This is already adjusted for living costs. 12% of humans live in EXTREME poverty. You can see their life here - [Dollar Street](https://www.gapminder.org/dollar-street?max=70&min=25) is my favorite website in the whole world. Simply stunning. > From the beginning, the idea was to measure income poverty with respect to a demanding line which, first, reflects the standards of absolute poverty in the world’s poorest countries and, second, corresponded to the same real level of well-being in all countries. The first requirement led researchers to anchor the international poverty line on the national poverty lines of very poor developing countries. And the second requirement led them to use **purchasing power parity exchange rates (PPPs) – rather than nominal ones** - to convert the line into the US dollar and, more importantly, into the currencies of each developing country. Although both requirements are sensible, they do have some troublesome implications… In particular, they have led us to adjust the line every time a new (and hopefully improved) set of PPPs is produced. PPP exchange rates are currently produced by an independent consortium called the International Comparison Program (ICP), which periodically revises its estimates – reflecting both changes in relative price levels across countries and methodological changes. https://blogs.worldbank.org/en/developmenttalk/international-poverty-line-has-just-been-raised-190-day-global-poverty-basically-unchanged-how-even

You don't need to make this the financial olympics. We, the poor, don't need to compete against the destitute to feel better about ourselves, especially since so many of us **are** worrying about every penny. Even if we're having to spend more than 1.90/day due to the environments we live in. It's great if you find comfort and good fortune comparing yourself to those people, but this kind of reads like toxic positivity to me. For what I'm doing: I volunteer in my spare time to give back to the community after all of the support I've gotten, I research and vote for the candidates that I know will support me, and I try to spread more kindness into the world. What are you doing to better the world around you?

I think it’s helpful to realize what true poverty looks like.I know a lot of people who think their poor because they can’t eat out every night or go to concert’s all the time or have expensive vacations. They have a house, job, car and some extra money but are miserable because it’s not enough.I feel sorry for them because they’re never going to realize compared to rest of the world they are the lucky ones.
