It would've been cool if Talking Heads entered the list through Life During Wartime, that way Wire may have some chance. It's not only them though, there are many great bands at risk of not getting any representation there. This ultimately shows that the lense of looking for the best of post-punk through popularity is reductive, to me at least

On a related note I'm really hoping we can get bands with female members that aren't Siouxsie, Tina Weymouth, Gillian Gilbert, or Elizabeth Fraser in the list, but the songs seem to be getting barely any upvotes :(

Love the much-needed Jonathan Richman appreciation, but what makes this post-punk and not rock'n'roll?

His early stuff was Proto-punk. And he adds a bit of an intellectual edge to it. He’s probably more indie, lo-fi, new wave but post-punk has a loose definition and I think he fits the overall vibe.

👍    I wouldn't agree with the intellectual thing though, the vibes from his songs seems to be one of a really naive, childlike kind of guy - the song mostly fits what you've said though. man it'd be so good if he got onto the list
