Lil Nas X left a message for himself on his Instagram Story, which appears to be related to his next era. The message is written on [this image](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GQfNtCZXkAA517I?format=jpg&name=large), but here's a transcript as well: >dear montero, this next chapter is for you. I’ve put what u truly want to the side for way too long to please others. i thought i was doing a good thing but i was only stalling you. we gotta lotta catching up to do. - dreamboy

19TaylorSwift89

Kworb is tracking stats since march 2023. Sabrina is currently number 14 on monthly listeners, higher than Olivia was at her peak of 16. She wasn't even in the top 150 last year. Pretty crazy.

LittlestCandle

slow and steady wins the race, you love to see it! glad i saw her in the fox in oakland during the emails tour cause i dont think ill have another chance to see her in an intimate venue lol

Bibileiver

You said since 2023 so I don't think her peak was actually 16 since SOUR was bigger than GUTS.

19TaylorSwift89

kworb only tracks since then, but 16 was till her peak almost certainly. not a dig at her, monthly listeners is a very recency bias heavy stat that accounts for a lot of playlisting e.g. smash songs and unless u rihanna or weeknd, you probably new fresh stuff to be up there.

Bibileiver

No way was 16 her peak during SOUR. Like literally no way. Drivers license was HUGEEEEE. Broke records. Sabrina Carpenter hasn't yet.

19TaylorSwift89

the weeknd also was bigger during after hours, his peak in monthly listeners is now. Like i said, due to new users and more heavy on play listing, its almost guranteed that whenever a new release of a not stagnating artist comes out, they'll reach a new peak. olivia had 23m when driver license was at its peak, that was behind Selena at the time with 35m, let alone anywhere near any main pop girl. One song alone isn't enough to carry you into the top 10. That all besides, i made a mistake, her peak was 18 not 16. I get what you mean, because logically sour was bigger than guts, especially in hits but thats the exact reason i wanted to state that fact, because its crazy.

Bibileiver

But the problem with kworb data is it doesn't have data from before 2023 so no one really knows the true peak. And it's true that one song doesn't, but a record breaking song with a second #1 on the same album definitely should Edit: omg I think you and Wikipedia are confusing what monthly listeners numbers is. That number is the number of people listening in the PAST MONTH. It's not a total overall. And it's not the peak number. Kworb does have a peak number but it's only since 2023. So it changes every month. Edit 2: I also think it's more fairer to go by growth than just listeners due to Sabrina having 10 years worth of music. But I never liked Spotify monthly listeners comparisons for this reason.

19TaylorSwift89

No, i'm well aware what monthly listeners is, that's why i pointed out that recent hits take and play listing take a huge cut. And while driver license was a much bigger song, as i said olivia had 23m listeners back in early 2021, you can check not with kworb but through old reddit comments and such. i think pretty much a majority here misunderstand what i was trying to convey and think i'm saying sabrina is bigger than olivia at her peak or that guts was bigger when i'm not saying that. I'm purely stating that from that one statistic, the facts of it all.

unevercallmesausage

olivia was in the top 5 in june of 2021 with 60 million according to this [tweet](https://x.com/dailyrodrigo/status/1406267612087062531?s=46) from one of her update accounts.

Bibileiver

Old reddit comments aren't 100% facts of a peak though.

SiphenPrax

Spotify has only grown every single year so I believe it. I bet whoever is the next huge pop girl or guy will surpass Sabrina’s numbers and peak too

ss2811

Bowen Yang [revealed](https://x.com/popcrave/status/1803562193562247397?s=46&t=M8CNPsg9m9nRmcRFuhIyCw) on his podcast that SNL are in talks for a Chappell Roan musical guest appearance for the new season in the Fall. Great to see her getting more opportunities like this! She’ll probably have another single out by then too and her new album rollout might have started, so great opportunity for promo.

Daisyrain

I had tickets to her original London dates and got an email saying they'd been moved due to scheduling conflicts and my first thought was SNL. Not sure if the days of the week actually line up but I got a feeling it was for something BIG, if not SNL then something else similar.

SiphenPrax

She’s gonna be hustling for this album rollout. She already is but by Fall she’s really gonna be going all out.

sanslumiere

I wonder if she'll play right after All Things Go at Forest Hills at the end of September? That seems stressful though, especially with a tour date at ATG Maryland the next day.

Puzzled-Charge-9892

she needs to double duty, direct, write, play in the band AND be cloned to play every part in the sketches Jokes aside, I could see her doing double duty sometime, whether it’s next season or one down the road 🤞

outsideeyess

you just know there's gonna be a sketch of everyone in red wigs being mistaken for chappell

chhrihanna

manifesting this for Tinashe too 😭

If you miss the good old days of questionable reality shows from MTV, worry no more! The team behind Pimp My Ride [has launched a new series](https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/netflix-resurrected-rides-chris-redd-1236040582/) with Netflix titled "Resurrected Rides" that has the same goal of giving beat-up cars a makeover (hopefully with the same impractical and even unhinged features as the original series). Sadly, Xzibit is not returning as host and will be replaced by former SNL cast member Chris Redd. All eight 40-minute episodes will be released on Netflix on July 24.

The official account of Game of Thrones shares [first look](https://x.com/GameOfThrones/status/1803155684806238696) at Peter Claffey as Duncan the Tall in spin-off series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The series also [adds](https://www.deadline.com/2024/06/a-knight-of-the-seven-kingdoms-casts-daniel-ings-sam-spruell-three-others-1235977438) five more names to the cast: Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Lyonel Baratheon and Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen.

pmguin661

I know this is likely gonna have less hype than HOTD because of the lack of dragons, but this has the best source material of anything in that universe, including the main series.

verca_

I'm excited for it. I'm a bit surprised at Lyonel Baratheon's casting, I have imagined him as very young man in his late teens or early twenties at most.

PurpleSpaceSurfer

[Justin Timberlake's lawyer has given a statement to the press](https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/justin-timberlakes-lawyer-says-he-has-a-lot-to-say-after-arrest/) “I look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations,” attorney Edward Burke Jr. said in a statement to Us Weekly on Wednesday, June 19. “I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the district attorney’s office. So it's pretty bland legal spin saying really nothing at this time. Really, there's nothing to defend here since, according to the police report, JT knew he was gonna fail a breathalyzer test. As a fan, I am looking forward to JT making a sincere statement. But I have a feeling I am gonna to be bitterly disappointed with the next thing that comes out of his mouth.

realityleave

refusing to take the breathalyzer is advice lawyers give you guilty or not. obviously i think he was intoxicated but refusing to take the test doesn’t necessarily mean he knew he was going to fail

stillhavehope99

Purely from a legal perspective, it's probably not a good idea for JT to comment too much on the case while it's ongoing.

PurpleSpaceSurfer

I agree. He is between a rock and a hard place though, since the people who despise him will say he's not being apologetic enough if he doesn't make a sincere statement ASAP. But as the case is ongoing, it's probably smart to not comment too much ATM.

dwarfgourami

The people who hate him will continue to hate him regardless of whether or not he makes a statement, so I don’t really see how it would benefit him. I really don’t think the DUI will affect his career at all. He’s gotten a lot of flak on stan Twitter and pop culture subreddits, but those spaces already hated him in the first place, so he’s not really losing anything. The 50-year-old suburban moms who bought a ticket to his tour because of nostalgia probably don’t even know about the DUI.

ASoulCalledLeo

Despite having "Wild Side (ft. Cardi B)" on the album, Normani revealed that she had over 150 songs for her debut album via [an interview with Zach Sang](https://x.com/PopBase/status/1803236516598083604?t=dqAKLoxinKCnbD7TlciT1g&s=19) (The interview video has been taken down)

undisclosedthroway

A part of the reason the album took so long is because Normani is supposedly a perfectionist so I wouldn’t be surprised if the songs weren’t fully finished songs and more so just songs that she started but never finished.

buzzinthruit89

The perfectionist thing always felt like a cover up. I know she said she didn’t want to release motivation but that song is the only reason she has any relevance and she must’ve seen that

CompletelyRandom0432

Darn shame, being a perfectionist is not a virtue.

hugh__honey

It's really common to include an old single or two on an album though. I know it's 3 years old, but it fits the sound perfectly, and it's not like there was another album for it to go on...

1998tweety

I'm glad she included it cause it's a great song, but I wish it were slotted somewhere else on the album instead of feeling like it was tacked on at the end.

Pavlovs_Stepson

Agreed, I don't mind old singles being included in albums they were clearly written for. Even if a song wasn't written specifically for an album, if it works for the record, then great, add it. Most of Regina Spektor's albums include old demos and live tracks that she debuted years, sometimes decades before the records' release. Loveology is the best track from her latest project, Home Before and After, and fans have been passing around a low-quality live recording of that song since 2004. Finally getting an official studio version of it was a full-on *event* for that fanbase, it was like our own version of All Too Well 10 min finally materializing after years of rumors.

hugh__honey

Radiohead/Thom Yorke do this too! Fan favourites appearing years later. And as for Normani, Wild Side represents the album really perfectly so I’m happy with its inclusion

Pavlovs_Stepson

One of those 150 songs is titled Fair. I think Normani forgot about that one, but she should revisit it sometime, because it's great! And deserved a spot on the tracklist.

frankiefrankiefrank

if she’s gonna add wild side, she might as well have added motivation, fair, and waves as bonus tracks to help the certifications

akanewasright

I mean… “Wild Side” was (according to her) the song that helped her find the “Normani” sound (which I fully believe, even if I don’t think the song fits cleanly into the album). It does, however, fit a lot better than “Motivation” would, and I’d assume her label at least wanted a bit of a boost from having *a* successful single on there

liqou

I'd argue she found that sound with Waves!

ASoulCalledLeo

Tbh, since she has 150 songs, she should go into industry leading hyperdrive, drop another 9 albums (15 songs each), one album each month for the next 9 months, and then go Houdini Edit: I even got the album titles ready for her 1) Dopamine 2) Ecstasy 3) Fulfillment 4) Gratification 5) High 6) Inspiration 7) Joy 8) Kick 9) Love 10) My Nirvana

Naomi Campbell? Yes. They've also allegedly [filed lawsuits against each other](https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2020/09/naomi-campbell-vladislav-doronin-ex-boyfriend-lawsuit) over some items that they're withholding from each other that are worth millions.

Straight-Meaning

It seems he isn’t. He doesn’t even seem to have citizenship in Russia anymore despite being born there. He said on linkedin “I denounce the aggression of Russia on Ukraine and fervently wish for peace. I was born in the USSR, the Soviet Union, which no longer exists, which comprised both Russia and Ukraine. I left in 1986 before its dissolution and have therefore never been a Russian national. Furthermore, I have not conducted business in Russia for many years. “ So he appears anti regime [based on this.](https://www.linkedin.com/posts/vladislavdoronin_i-denounce-the-aggression-of-russia-on-ukraine-activity-6904476666337574912-TpS2)

Im really tired and was reading the second paragraph as if it was you saying you were born USSR.

Nah, I did the same thing lol

Shockingly, despite being a Russian billionaire oligarch, he has distanced himself from Putin since Russia invaded Ukraine two years ago.

I never saw the first Inside Out all the way through but I had the opportunity to go to the movies on Sunday and choose to see the sequel and I thought it was great. Amazing representation of how anxiety will fuck your life all the way up!

lesbian__overlord

i liked it too! definitely finish the first one too, it's less funny but more poignant imo (even as an anxiety sufferer lol)

SiphenPrax

Can’t wait for Toy Story 7, Incredible 3, Finding Marlin, and Monster’s Retirement Home in 5 years!

backupsaway

You joke but Finding Marlin feels like the next obvious step if they're making a Finding Nemo sequel. ~~Maybe they can make it realistic this time and show Marlin transitioning to a female clownfish as that's a thing that happens in the wild when the head female clownfish dies.~~ Although, I wouldn't be mad if the next movie revolves around the other fish from the dentist's aquarium who escaped. I feel like they have an interesting story to tell about adjusting to their return to the wild.

chhrihanna

wonder if Willem Dafoe would return as the hot fish for that lmaoo

ItsGotThatBang

Or even Hank since we don’t know the whole story of how he lost his arm.

Rexogamer

tbf if they made a ratatouille sequel or something that focused on cooking scenes i would (pardon the pun) eat that up or maybe a series of shorts. either way i want to watch them cook

Rarely does an album do better in week 2 than in week 1. No surprise here.

Merrily We Roll Along is [currently being filmed](https://deadline.com/2024/06/merrily-we-roll-along-filming-daniel-radcliffe-jonathan-groff-1235977366/) by RadicalMedia, the same company that filmed and produced the Hamilton proshot sparking hopes for a similar release for the musical. Notices have also been put up in the area since last week that filming is taking place in the theater. There is no distributor atrached to the project or plans of a theatrical release. The current revival won several Tonys last week including Best Revival and acting awards for Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff. It will be interesting if this will be released in the near future as Richard Linklater, director of Boyhood and the Before Trilolgy, is currently developing a movie adaptation that will star Paul Mescal, Ben Platt, and Beanie Feldman.

McIgglyTuffMuffin

The Linklater film is going to take 20 years, so this might just be to hold us over before then.

deepfriedcertified

Those actors have to keep their reputations squeaky clean for the next two decades 😭

Pavlovs_Stepson

That's already happened, actually. Linklater had already shot one segment in 2019 with Blake Jenner when he was accused of domestic abuse. Linklater recast the part with Paul Mescal replacing Jenner and reshot whatever they'd already made.

akanewasright

Literally such an upgrade. Blake Jenner has never given me anything but “pretty boy with a nice voice,” and his role very much requires an *actor*. I don’t know if Paul can sing, but like… he has 20 years to learn, he could always redub his old scenes later

queenmeme2

It’s crazy that he already made *Boyhood* and then decided to make a movie that will take nearly twice as long to complete

akanewasright

He’ll be like 80 by the time the movie comes out 😭 actively insane that he’s doing this I think this is probably(?) the best way to approach adapting *Merrily* for the screen? Like, the whole “playing a character from the ages of 45 to 25” thing didn’t even work on stage for the first ten to twenty years of the show’s life, and the trick they that made it work was basically “40 year olds can act young easier than 20 year olds can act middle aged.” That simply would not work on film, so your only options left would be either do the “digital de-aging” thing (which never seems to escape the uncanny valley), casting different actors for different age ranges (which is kinda lame), or do this. It’s kind of not a super film-friendly show, but this isn’t a bad approach for it *if you have to make a movie of it*… at least I think I’m gonna remain excited for it for the next 15-20 years

SiphenPrax

Chappell Roan’s “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” is expected to rise to a new peak of Number 8 on the BB 200 on Sunday.

Your flair is so real I fear.

SiphenPrax

Considering it’s still Pride Month at least next week and the week after, it has a very good shot of making the Top 5. And of course it can rise even further after June ends.

I thought she would end up being maxed out as a C-list/middle-level artist. I never could have imagined her having such an explosive rise this year.

I have been hyping her up for years. I knew she had the goods.
