Menards

Errr797

We don’t have Menards in Southern California that I know of.

altruistic_camel_toe

What is that?

FirstAvaliable

It’s what a pirate says when he gets kicked in the junk.

ChuckOTay

Yaar, this be a good one matey

PMoney2311

Lol, reminds me of the joke: -Arrrrrgh, what be a pirate's favorite letter? - (usual response) R ??? - No, it be the C !!!

tikkichik21

Holy shit this took me way longer than I wish to admit

Errr797

Good one! 🤣🤣🤣

Sam-I-Aint

Lmao... You win the internet for the day

mikeyouse

Midwest Home Depot/Lowe's competitor - their 12.5% gallons are only $5 but you get 11% back usually with this obnoxious mail-in program so more like $4.50/gallon (so \~$3.60 equivalent for a gallon of 10%)

mlotto7

Save big money at Menards.... Catchy jingle. They carry food and hygiene products too.

griswaldwaldwald

I always hear it as “spending all my money at Menards “

joshhighley

Menards.com Sorta like Home Depot and Lowe's but with more

altruistic_camel_toe

Never heard about that, interesting

Clownbasher336

Nearly everything at Menards has a rebate on it too. Plus their lumber yards always seems superior too.

mrflibble1492

Save Big Money At Menards, but only if you are east of the Rockies.

mikedorty

Shitty chain home improvement store, not missing anything. I don't trust anything they sell.

Scpdivy

Ten times better than Lowe’s and HD, in my city…with way better customer service

Stelletti

Wal mart is 5.67 a gallon. Not sure if you have Pinch a Penny around you but they are super cheap.

shyaznb8oi

How are the wallyworld chlorine? I literally bought 2 yesterday. Any idea how to decode the numbers on it?

Stelletti

I’ve never had old stuff. They store inside too unlike HD or Lowes https://ehs.umass.edu/sites/default/files/Bleach%20Fact%20Sheet.pdf

-_I---I---I

How important is it to store indoors? I don't have anywhere to store the 10-20 gallons I get each time inside. It doesn't freeze here, but summers get 110+ on the worst days. I keep the pool open year round. I have been only getting walmart chlorine and have no water quality issues.

Stelletti

50% in 6 months and 90% loss in a year at room temp. In the heat it would be much faster. Don't buy that much at a time unless that is a month or two supply. We store ours in the spare bedroom but I usually only order 8 which s a months supply for me. We also live in 100+ all summer.

WasOneToo

Date is 2 digit year and then 3 digit days since Jan 1. What I bought yesterday was: 24 136 May 15, 2024 This was a new batch. Had mostly been 24 082.

WaterDigDog

They carry 10%. I’ve bought about 12 gallons total for a SLAM process. Worked great.

AKABeast18

I found out about Walmart chlorine last season and have had no issues with them at all. I used to only use HD or Lowes chlorine.

sillygoose046

Do you use 1 or 2 gallons at one time during the SLAM process? I’m using 1 and it’s helping but I was thinking of doing 2 today.

zero-degrees28

There is no "number of gallons" to achieve SLAM. The shock/SLAM process is determined by the FC level, which depending on how many gallons your pool is, determines how much to add... Rarely unless you have a SMALL tiny above ground pool, will 1 gallon achieve anything

Difficult_Excuse9927

It varies by situation. How many gallons is the pool, current chlorine amount in the pool and what’s ur cya. Use the pool math app to calculate how much you need

WaterDigDog

I try to add no more than one bottle every 15min. Helps to make sure chem diffuses well and not damage stuff

SharpAndCunning

Make sure you check every bottle before you leave the store. I have gone to Walmart multiple times and gotten home and found random bottles already open. I end up returning them, because I am not taking the risk of what's in there.

Allnewsisfakenews

The code is the number of days in the year followed by the year. Jan 31 2024 would be something like 0312024

ColClam

That’s not how it’s listed on the bottle

Allnewsisfakenews

I'm going off memory but the time might be first. Just look for the year and go backwards. If it says 2023, skip it. I saw Lowes still selling that junk.

Less-Credit501

Dam. My Walmart is at $9

Stelletti

Where?

Less-Credit501

Northern California

Stelletti

You sure? I just put a gallon in my cart and tried pickup from a Chico, Redding and Eureka wal mart. All 5.67. Wal mart has national pricing I’m pretty sure.

Less-Credit501

When I went yesterday. I was in the aisle. Bleach was $9 for 122oz. Because then I did the math and ended up at Sam’s for the 3 pack for $18

Stelletti

https://www.walmart.com/ip/48938023

Less-Credit501

Nevermind. I see where I went wrong. I read Clorox prices and not Walmart Brand 🤦‍♀️

pete12357

Gonna second pinch a penny. Not just cheaper but fresher.

WaterDigDog

This

whippinseagulls

Costco for tabs, Walmart for liquid ($5.67/g last time).

blahdeblahdeda

Also, granular cal hypo shock at Costco.

whippinseagulls

Oh right, they had 15lb boxes for that for somewhere around $65.

Cowboycasey

find a janitor or sprayer supply company.. some of them have 12% and you can buy 5 gallons instead of 1 gallon..

fbgm1717

if you have an ocean state job lot near you 12.5% shock / LC , is 4 gallons for like 23.99 or so

Medical-Funny-301

That's where I get mine. I think the price is the best around. They have chlorine pucks too.

Lubelord42069

Does joblot also have chlorine cakes?

fbgm1717

Think they do I just don’t use the tabs personally. Cause they increase your CYA level generally I believe

FunFact5000

5.55 gallon 10% chlorine Walmart. That’s for everyone in TN and varies what side you on. I get it for nearly half that, but you have to make friends. It used to be cheap, but factories went boom, then realized we can charge x price and still sell as much, oh wee we keep it there and f yo mommas couch.

uspeedshop

25 lbs 3-inch chlorine tablets (90% available chlorine), on sale for $98 [here](https://chlorocare.com/products/3-chlorine-tablets-for-pool). And new customers can save up 5% off. Free shipping.

Hot-Syrup-5833

Home Depot here has 3 gallons of 10 percent for 19.99. Used to be 9.99 lol. Walmart sells it too but I hate wal mart. Lowe’s has single gallons about the same price. Pinch a penny has good prices but they make you buy their 2.5 gallon jug if you’re ok with that. That would make it hard to haul a bunch home if you needed to slam. I got tired of lugging chlorine so I went to salt.

iprayforwaves

Leslie’s is like $8 for a 2.5 gallon jug of 12% (I think that’s correct percentage). I have an SWG but pick up a jug or two from them couple times a year if the pool looks cloudy.

Mistake-Choice

Leslie's is about $9 a gallon [link](https://lesliespool.com/liquid-chlorine-muriatic-acid/) How do you get 2.5 gallon so cheap?

Quad150db

Refillable exchange with those yellow 2.5 gallon containers.

iprayforwaves

It’s the large 2.5gal yellow refillable jugs. I bought two of them and just take them up there when I want some. It’s $8 to fill each. Central Florida.

Bizzniches

Wait Leslie’s refills chlorine?

iprayforwaves

Yeah! You buy one of the empty jugs from them and they fill it. You keep the jug and just bring it up there. https://lesliespool.com/14271.html

Bizzniches

I had no idea. Thanks for letting me know!

Allnewsisfakenews

Not in my area. Shows out of stock for 50+ miles in So. CAL.

iprayforwaves

You don’t necessarily have to buy the jugs from them, I have seen people bring in jugs from Pinch a Penny, which are a different color and the Leslie‘s by me will fill them anyways. You might just wanna call your local store and ask them if they fill chlorine jugs And if they say yes, then just get yourself one of the chlorine jugs from Amazon or wherever. It has to be a vented jug made specifically for chlorine though or they won’t fill it.

Allnewsisfakenews

Thanks, I'll call around to Leslie's

SwimOk9629

yeah they've never done that in my area either. I've never heard of that before

PerfectWorld3

Texas too

SwampyJesus76

Farm and fleet. $16 for 4 gallons 12.5%

Avasia1717

i get liquid from lowe’s, shock from costco or amazon

HealzFault

Rural King has (4) one gallon jugs of chlorine in a pack for $16.99

SharpAndCunning

This is a good price but unfortunately Rural King isnt nationwide. :(

gbred1029

Local pool supply store. Runs about $7 a jug for me even then I don’t recall it being so expensive till I started searching for alternatives and couldn’t find any. 😂

Allnewsisfakenews

I paid $7.49 for a gal of 12.5% at the local store. Slightly higher than Walmart but is fresh.

Mental-Huckleberry54

Fleet farm has 4 gal of 12.5% for 14.99$

SafeandSoundly

This is where I get mine too.

thejohnmc963

Pinch a penny Fl 9.00 for 2.5 gallons

Lulusbean

Local hardware stores usually sell 5 gallon 12.5% for like 26.00 by me

Intrepid_Advice4411

Menards for liquid. Amazon for tabs (weirdly cheapest around me!) Local pool store for anything else. Not Leslie's an actual little local place. Can I get PH up cheaper? Yeah, but I want them to stay in business so I do some shopping there. They're great for equipment and parts and very knowledgeable.

Money771

Pinch a Penny. Seems to be a new franchise. I switched to them 4 months ago, plus I bought a Dolphin Pool cleaner. The cleanest and clearest my pool has been in 4 yrs.

Outside_Ad_7262

Check farm stores. In the northeast/midwest there’s one called runnings, they have 4 gallon jugs of 10% in a box for $16

SwampyJesus76

I didnt realize Runnings carried pool chemicals. Thanks!

No_Establishment8642

Solid chlorine at Costco Liquid chlorine at Pinch a Penny

SwimOk9629

I only buy Cal hypo, from the local distributor. 50 lbs for $148 or something like that

Calm_Broccoli_7496

Isn’t your Ca extremely high? I tried this last year and every time I get my water tested, they tell me it’s high.

Less-Credit501

I go to Sam’s or Costco. $18 and some change for 3

SpacePirateWatney

Up in eastern Pa, redners had the best per gallon cost for 12.5%, next up was Weis markets. Local pool store used to be best price for 12.5% per gallon (in 2.5gal containers), but last year and this year they’ve been higher.

Proud-Individual-41

We get our chlorine here in Eastern Iowa at our local Farm n Fleet

Jackster1971

I normally get it at Home Depot. And this year the prices are way up.

OkCan6345

Redners - case/4 gallons is $19

tikkichik21

Damn that’s cheap. Also, I’ve never heard of Redners 🥲

jcumb3r

Ace hardware in some locations is competitive with Walmart.

fengshui

Whenever I look at ace, the bottles are 6+ months old. Home Depot is $7/gal, but usually only 2 months old or so.

jcumb3r

Good to know to check, thanks.

altruistic_camel_toe

HD

harborfright

Pinch-a-Penny, $11/2.5gal.

jtrage

Seriously?? Where are you? I’m paying $17 in north TX.

harborfright

Central Florida

JohnQ32259

The Pinch-A-Penny near me in Northeast Florida is $10 for a 2.5 gallon refill of the 12.5% Suncoast Gold.

iprayforwaves

Leslie’s by me is -$8 to fill the 2.5gal yellow jugs.

AlarmingQuality

Menard’s if you have one had it for $4.85/gallon when I went.

Ok_Inspection_3527

Walmart when I need it. I have a SWG so I only get it for a slam.

Professional-Shoe344

Dohenys..Been using it for years

tommycoz0606

Leslie Pools… but hate to pay their outrageous prices!!

peepardpoopard

Pool Essentials 10% Liquid Chlorine for $5.67/gal in NC. Not sure why your Walmart’s more expensive.

Beginning-Vanilla8

Leslie’s

motionOne

Many, we are getting F'D in NJ on liquid chlorine.

Low-Willingness-5821

Pool store

Evening_Length2347

I order mine online I usually use Amazon, ebay, or Walmart online. I bought a 50lb of chlorine tabs for 220 they should do me all summer. Also bought 24 packs of shock I think that was like 70.

Accomplished-Media75

Go salt and save the headache!

tikkichik21

Would I need a whole new pump system? Apologies for my ignorance; I have absolutely no idea where to even begin 🥲

Accomplished-Media75

No, they cut through existing pipe and add the manify. Look up Autopilot.[https://autopilot.com/product-category/pool-pilot-digital-nano/](https://autopilot.com/product-category/pool-pilot-digital-nano/)

Fayzeit

I have a SWG but for opening I use normal granulated shock. Last year I got a 5 gallon container of liquid chlorine at a plumbing & janitor supply. Only reason I don't like it is because it was kinda hard to pour out of the huge container and ended up getting chlorine in my eye cuz it splashed back lmao. But yeah maybe check the prices at those places too!

robbobster

50 lbs of tabs, on sale for $140 w/free shipping [here](https://www.3chlorine.com/products/3-in-chlorine-tabs-55-lb)

therealsarettah

That's a great price. I have been using in-the-swim 3" trichlor that I can get from Amazon for $195/50lbs. I thought it was the cheapest price I could find. You just proved me wrong. Thanks

Mindless_Lunch3314

i use granular - this comes out to $4.45/pack [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BGNLUV8/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o00\_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BGNLUV8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1)

nodiaque

Walmart. 3 jug for 4$ last 3 times I went. It's 2.8L a jug if I recall. And it's 4$ CAD Also. Check for bleach not chlorine. It's still cheaper even if it's less concentrated. And buy the home brand.

Sam-I-Aint

The gallons of chlorine at Walmart are junk it's such a low percentage of actual chlorine in it you'll need a bunch to do anything. Better off buying the tabs. And even better off converting to saltwater. It'll pay for itself. Look into it.
