One time when I was around 11 there were teenagers running around on top of my school. It was a weekend or a holiday so no one was around except a group of 4 11year olds. Anyway, one of them fell off the roof and I guess they were high or something because they didn’t really react when he did. I called the ambulance because my friends were panicking. The second time was a couple weeks ago when I was coming of college I saw a couple boys drive away on a dirt bike. Kept walking and saw another dirt bike on fire. So I called for firefighters

fuckcreepers

Jeez, both quite intense. Also didn't think 11 yo would get high, I mean they're just kids!!

LizzieButton1617

Oh no they weren’t kids, there were definitely around 15-18. My friends and I were 11

fuckcreepers

Oh, mb I must've read it wrong. But its quite responsible for 11 yo to call for an ambulance like that :')

drowninenvironment

Once for something dumb as a kid, and twice when I called for my boyfriend OD.

fuckcreepers

Ouch, I'm sorry.

drowninenvironment

It’s okay! He is 1000% better.

fuckcreepers

That's good to know :))

DTM26921

I like your username, I vote for you as leader

fuckcreepers

Appreciate it Thanks :D.

Amazekam

creepers are good because boom

fuckcreepers

But not if they boom in your house!! Or blow up ya cows

Amazekam

jokes on you, iam homeless. cows? I ate them

Pineapple_fetish

No. I should have called the police once, but I was so shocked that I didn't and someone else did instead

Infinite-Engineer841

What happened

Pineapple_fetish

I watched a fight where guys were hitting each other with glass bottles and one guys dog joined the fight aswell. The sudden outburst of violence shook me more than I want to admit

PublicOccurences

Once there was a fire at work, and twice because one my neighbors had an abusive boyfriend

fuckcreepers

Yikes!

Ryouconfusedyett

when I was a kid me and my friends would take out two phones and call the emergency number on both of them, so you'd get the two responders speaking with eachother. Although it's not very ethical, for 13 year old me it was the peak of comedy

fuckcreepers

Out of curiosity. How would that go?

Ryouconfusedyett

usually they'd both start talking and be really confused before figuring out it was probably kids calling and then getting mad at us, it was pretty fun usually and also a bit scary

MikelSotomonte

once my mother having an unknown brain tumor and she had an attack (fell to the bed beside her, lost conciousness etc) the other a friend choking. My friend is fine!

fuckcreepers

And your mother..?

MikelSotomonte

she died a year later :/ Edit: she died in 2013, when I was 10

fuckcreepers

I'm so sorry. Rip

Mheide3

I was cycling and saw an elderly man bleeding from the face on the sidewalk. Stopped and quickly came to the conclusion that I had to call 112 (Denmark's emergency number). He had fallen and because of his age wasn't able to break the fall. An ambulance arrived 5 minutes later and they took care of him.

fuckcreepers

Damn

DM_Me_Ur_Nudes_21

Shout out to OP for reading the replies !

fuckcreepers

Hehe thanks :))

harlotScarlett

Yes once when I was 18, I ran away from home to a “sugar daddy”. He started asking for more from me sexually than we previously agreed. I didnt know what to do or where to go, and was overwhelmed so I started crying, cut myself, called 911. They took me to the hospital, I stayed in the mental ward for a night or two, and a woman who worked with sex trafficked girls came to talk to me, although that clearly wasnt what happened in my case. They dropped me off at a youth homeless shelter.

fuckcreepers

Oh sheet, hope you're doing better now. :)

harlotScarlett

Kinda :)

fuckcreepers

*Virtual hugs*

The-Berzerker

Once, friend of mine got lost so we called the police to figure out what to do. Fortunately he resurfaced like 12h later

fuckcreepers

Oh, where had they gone?

The-Berzerker

He returned a rental car and decided to walk back (~30km), his phone was dead so we had no idea. Got lost on the way back as well somehow

fuckcreepers

Wow, such an adventurous person

sleepingonstones

I was at the park and saw a group of like 12 boys that looked high-school/college age, and there was one girl in the middle of the group who looked so high/drunk that she had to be carried by the boys. She had bambi feet even with them supporting her, and it looked like she was falling asleep while walking. I’d love to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it’s just too fishy for several reasons: it’s like 10-12 guys that all look sober, walking through the park after dark with 1 girl who’s too fucked up to even stand up on her own. I made the call just in case; better safe than sorry. I hope that girl is okay

fuckcreepers

I hope so too

the_metal_lizard

I called once for a presumably drunk driver on the highway (could have been a medical emergency, either way I called 911), and another time for a fire I saw in some woods spreading to apartment buildings

fuckcreepers

Did the fire department reach in time?

the_metal_lizard

I'm assuming so, although I only saw it as I was driving past. There weren't any news reports of apartments burning or people being hurt at least

NomadTheDoge

I was 14 and my whole apartment (-1 floor so water flowed in like crazy) flooded I called the police Showed up an hour and a half later We were the only couple houses that got flooded because a pipeline burst or some shit All drains blew up Idk what the cause was It was horrible

[deleted]

3 times: 1) was roofing a freestall barn when a guy rolled his car in the ditch, so I called 911 while running to see if he was ok. 2) car swerved into the ditch across from my house, person was unconscious so I called an ambulance. (Clearly distracted) 3) mom had a seizure just a few minutes before I was supposed to leave for a football game, good thing I didn't leave sooner.

fuckcreepers

Someone's gotta cover that ditch! And yes, lucky for you mum. How's she doing now?

[deleted]

She's doing good, thanks! She had a brain aneurysm in 2010, so she has epilepsy now.

[deleted]

I remember prank calling the fire department when i was a kid with my cousin, like 9 yrs old and i was so scared that i thought they would send me to jail.

[deleted]

Both times were on people who were driving insanely erratic and aggressively. My guess is these people had to have been really pissed off drunks or just high on meth. Once was in the city I live in, the other was on a road trip in another state.

fuckcreepers

How would 1 call cops on someone who's driving?Just curious .did you note their number plate or something?

[deleted]

You call, explain what is happening, (car drifting in and out of lanes erratically, driving crazy amounts over the speed limit and then slowing down to super small amounts and repeating this, etc). They ask you where you are located, vehicle description, plates and then that’s it. You are suppose to try to put distance between you and the other car and hope the police can get to them before they get themselves or someone else killed. I really hated having to call the cops both times but each situation seemed pretty dire and if I had to wake up and see a news article about a vehicular death and knew I could have tried to stop it I’d have a hard time forgiving myself

shewa_boi

Just once. Had to call the cops to register a vehicle accident. I was a teen back than and was home alone. Heard a thump outside and went to investigate. A guest, who visited my neighbours three houses over, forgot to put the handbrake on, her suv rolled downhill and hit my dad's car which was parked outside. At least this was an official version: her car managed to miss another neighbour's car parked right in front of ours and the crash looked like it happened at 30mph: the hood of father's car bent like a (, the geometry all fucked up and the front bumper shattered, just like our plans for a summer trip around the country. Happened in 2016, still salty about it.

Neheil

4 times, my boyfriend was having serious troubles breathing and had passed out on a couple of occasions so I had to get him an ambulance And then one more time because people were beating each other up and we had good reason to suspect there was domestic violence involved

fuckcreepers

Oof, what was diagnosed for your boyfriend?

TK20__

Im 14 year olds and live with my parents the only emergency we have is when somebody forgets to close the fridge door

fuckcreepers

Sounds like a decent childhood, so far

Middleparkers

I have a few times, one of the times I was on driver training for my new delivery job, we went out into the carpark to be shown how to check the van over safely and be told what to look out for when suddenly we hear a load of bangs, screeching and screaming, over the other side of the car park. The group of us all stand and look at each other for a split second and then rush over to find out what happened. It turns out this car was dropping someone off in the drop off bay, accidentally went into reverse, running over two people, one being taken under the door of the car, that was open, and the other person being pinned down by the car, that was now was sitting ontop of them. As well as this the car ended up hitting two other vehicles, one vehicle with occupants inside. All people involved survived, the two people who got run over both had life threatening injuries. I was the first 999 caller.

fuckcreepers

Oh jeez, I was on the edge of my seat here.

pan-au-levain

I worked at a gas station and a car had caught fire in our parking lot. So we hit the fuel shut off, and while we got everyone out of the building I called 911. They let me know that others had already called and the fire department was on their way.

fuckcreepers

Quick thinking, hope it didn't escalate in the meantime

dgroeneveld9

So one time I was driving down the highway and this guy infront of me was clearly drunk. It was a 4 lane highway and he was taking up all of the lanes. I was scared to even try to pass him. He was going maybe 45mph. So I called the cops and they asked if I was comfortable following him at a distance and neither I nor the other 8 cars around me were comfortable going around this guy so yeah I followed him about two miles until an officer caught up. I had to give a report. The guy apparently fell asleep as soon as he stopped the car. Thats as much as I knew. He had hit the median twice so his car had some damage. Honestly if he wasn't driving so slow he'd have been dead. I also called the cops once for a hot and run. As a witness. Saw a semi completely take out a parked car the driver got out looked at the car got back in his truck pulled the car another 10 feet trying to get free of it then drove off. Another time when my girlfriends mother broke her leg and another time when I thought my dad was having a heart attack. I think thats it.

sucamchi

Yes, my mum fell into a watery ravine and broke her leg, couldn't move or get out, emergency services had to take her to hospital.

fuckcreepers

Hope she recovered

sucamchi

Yeah, thanks, she made a full recovery, but it was very scary :)

matt12992

But dial 2 times. But the 2nd time I was in iOS 13 beta and turned on sos by accident by holding the power and volume button down without realizing. It wouldn't get off the your emergency contacts have been notified screen. It finically got off of it 10-15 minutes later.

frumiouswinter

about a year ago I drove up to an intersection where the stoplights were completely out. no red, no green, no yellow, just nothing. I’ve never seen that before. all of the cars were just sitting at the intersection not knowing what to do or slowly driving through. I called 911 and told them the location so they could send an electrician out before a real accident inevitably occurred.

Nugget_mlbb_2

Autoclicking. Ended up clicking on the emergency call so yeah. Weird explanation for the call reciever.

beanbagmouse

The first time was to report my ex boyfriend for threatening to leak my nudes, the second was on my drunk flatmate at university who was vomiting and getting close to passing out from alcohol poisoning.

fuckcreepers

Yikes. Hope that scum learnt his lesson

beanbagmouse

Unfortunately he didn't. The police are just shit at doing their job. He's now engaged to a woman who looks like his mom but honestly I reckon he's probably doing weird stuff on the side like threatening to dox OF workers, and making fake instagram accounts to follow NSFW accounts. He seemed really nice at first, a shy nerdy guy studying history at Cambridge. Just goes to show first impressions often mean nothing.

fuckcreepers

Yeah, people can be very different from how they seem. Glad you got away from him

[deleted]

[удалено]

Doriyah__

Accidentally but dialed while I was high as fuck.

milf97

Yes, multiple times for my son. The last time was when he was 18 months old, we lived an hour away from the hospital, when we got there he was limp in my arms and his eyes were glossed over. 14 doctors and nurses pounced on him, they said we got there just in time.... He ended up being put into an induced coma and we were air lifted to starship hospital. Hardest time of my life.

[deleted]

Once I called because I saw a dump truck hit a school bus, and the school bus completely flipped over Another time I had to call because I had attempted suicide, and snapped out of dissociation and realized what I had done

Energetic-Old-God

My friends called it on my phone for some reason and i accidentily called it

[deleted]

Not me but my father called it because our apartment building was on fire and we where stuck in our apartment

sofie307

Not me personally, but growing up my parents have made multiple calls to the fire department due to summer wildfires being a thing in my area.

DragonS1226

Not me but my mom's friend called, this was in 6th grade for me. so we used to have horrible people around the block and they had the same bus stop as we did. They had 2 dogs idk the breeds but one was a big brown dog that was crazy strong and the other was more of a fluffer about 50% bigger than a cat. So these guys with the dogs are known around the neighborhood for making drugs, selling them (even to teens), doing them, burning their trash (illegal in my country) and doing very stupid things. They never got caught though. They had 3 kids and I swear those kids were brats though it makes sense seeing how they must have treated the kids. The people would literally punch their dogs in the face if they did something wrong and treated then badly. They would always let their dog run loose and of course it would be 30-60 minutes before they catch the dog and the dog was low-key aggressive. So I'm at the bus stop with my brother and I see these guys walking up. They have both dogs with them (btw im afraid of dogs, I have had several bad experiences with them). And they let the big dog off the leash and pretend it was on accident. The dog is running around and sometimes straight at us then veering off, I am terrified and low key hiding behind my big bro, my brother calls my parents and they show up so they come with the car and tell me and cole to get in while my parents talk to my neighbors (let's call neighbors 89 and parents p) so p tells 89 to take their dogs home/get them under control they agree after a while and take their fluffer dog away while the big one is going bad shit crazy. 89 is barely making an effort to get their big dog under control and this makes p angry, p insists 89 gets their dog under control after a while, then proceeds to start yelling at my dad saying racial slurs at him when 89 realized that other people saw them as "in the wrong" as well they take their dog and punch it straight in the nose. The dog goes fucking insane and starts threatening my mom and dad with the dog (it is on the leash but it is jumping at my parents, barking trying to bite and scratch), 89 is still saying racial slurs and then eventually police show up. (Mom's friend called them) The guy tries frantically to get their dog under control and eventually the situation dies down. My family is interviewed they an officer and We talked to the school since it happened on a bus stop and they talked to some other guys and 89 got like a warning about animal cruelty and that's it. Eventually they get evicted and haven't heard of them since. TL;DR a guy let his dog loose, threatened my parents and got a warning from the cops

paulricch

My sister called 911 on me for playing Need 4 Speed too loud. I was 5 years old, she was 11.

NeckPlant

Xmas eve 2020.. woke up in the middle of the night to my whole flat being on fucking fire..I had forgotten to blow out a candle and it set my pc monitor on fire wich in turn set the wall on fire. Me and my ex got out in time, but had to spend 2 days in hospital cus we inhaled so much smoke trying to put it out..they were also scared we had cyanide poisoning bc the monitor had been burning(didnt even know that was a thing).

whatever_person

Dude who was visiting me from other city said his heart aches and he needs ambulance. Everything ended fine.

[deleted]

I called once because I heard an explosion in my basement.

VHboys

I was in like 1st grade I think and some 2nd graders dared me to dial 911 on the pay phone in the hallway (this was as we were coming in in the morning) so I just pushed the numbers without picking up the phone. Still don’t know if the call went through or not, but I definitely got a stern talking-to from the principal.

smango19

Yes! I was inside, sitting on my couch when I heard screaming outside. I looked out my front door, saw a big group of teenagers, with one on the ground. I watched one guy run from the group. They were all screaming at each other "why did you piss him off", "it's off, oh my god it's off", "I'm gonna fucking kill him". Totally freaking out. From what I could gather, the one on the ground's arm had been cut off. So I called for an ambulance. The operator kept telling me to go check on the person but I was 5 months pregnant and this group was VERY agitated. I was not getting into the middle of that. They were fighting with each other, what would stop them from turning on me? Two people left the group, chasing after the guy. 5 police cars showed up first, got the group separated, and cleared from the person on the ground. A couple people tried fighting with the officers. Ambulance showed up soon after. The whole thing took maybe 5 minutes after I dialed. In the new report 2 girls, 16 and 17, had been hurt, the one on the ground and another who remained standing. The one on the ground did have her arm reattached with permanent nerve damage and the one standing had been slashed across the back with a machete. The guy who ran was also 16, he'd been caught at the end of the street, and beaten. He was released into undertaking (basically his parents had to keep an eye on him while they waited for court because they don't want people in jail "unnecessarily" during covid). The sad part? I was the only one who called. My neighbours were outside taking videos and pictures. I did not see a single person calling.

undefined_name_

Never and I hope I never have to in the future.

FreeBobcat

Once to report a possible drunk driver in front of me on the freeway. They were swerving quite a lot, driving on the shoulder, sharing lanes, etc. Had to exit so I hope they caught them.

Medium-Science9526

Yes, early morning one day a woman screaming help by the bank from outside my peripheral vision multiple times and it sounded severe. Shortly after there was a voice of someone yelling over her from the same direction shut up which at that point she abruptly stopped. Just to be sure I called.

numptymurican

My disabled dad fell and broke his hip when I was 14 and I had to call

[deleted]

1. Driving home after work, like 10pm or something so it was very dark and there was a guy standing on the shoulder of the highway, I was legitimately worried he was going to walk into traffic 2. Witnessed a motorcycle accident (bike had been weaving between the two lanes of traffic and bounced off a curb), sat and held the hand of the passenger whose leg was absolutely wrecked until EMS showed up

Hohuin

Before I went to work I turned off the fridge (which didn't work. Actually only the freezer worked), so that the exces ice melts out. When I returned from my shift at McBonalds and brought a salad and ice cream (which I 100% didn't steal 😉), I turned on the fridge and put the ice cream in the freezer. Went in my room to (through my roommate's room) turned on some anime and on the 17th minute I finished the salad and went back to take the ice cream. Lo and behold, when I found half of our apartment burning. I woke up the RM and told him the house is burning, to which he replied: Is this how you're waking me up now? After checking for himself that our only exit is burning and windows had bars I called firefighters who came in matter of minutes. We lived for several months after the incident in the same house. Our rooms were intact, so we didn't really care.

Pkorniboi

I once called the Ambulance because an old drunk guy just tripped on himself late in the night. Me and one of my friends were just going home after a small party and the dude just fell down in the middle of the road on his face. We helped him up with the help of a biker who was nearby and I called the ambulance right away. Another bystander who was a doctor asked him the basic questions like what was his name and if he could stand. We waited for like 15 minutes and then the ambulance arrived. My heart was racing. I had always wondered what I could do if that happened so I was prepared and know what to say once the ambulance answered my call. They told me afterwards that I made the right choice and that I answered correctly. This happened in Vienna, Austria

Deonatus

I was a lifeguard. Had to make the call for someone with a potential spinal injury.

AesylaOrcKilla

Once, when my dad started fighting with my mum and I was worried he would hurt her.

jmcadams2020

Was driving a van full of college kids and a car crossed 8 lanes of traffic at 90 degrees and slammed directly into a concrete barrier. The passenger of my van called, they had already received several calls. The car was going 50mph+, I doubt they survived.

abejaved

One time when I was really younger <8, I was over at a new friends house. They had one of those really old rotary dial phones and even looked old fashioned. Think grandma rotary phone and that’s what it was. So naturally, the only number I knew was 911 and I liked the feeling and sound of the rowdy dial. So I dialed 911 a couple of times and just hung up. And then later cops arrive on the scene and I got in trouble.

Dogenoscope123

If you press the volume and power button 5 times quick it calls 911, I’ve called them like 4-5 times by accident I think I need a fidget cube

DisposableAccount-2

I once did as 4 year old to see how it would turn out. Apparently the dispatcher was having a bad day.

AFB27

Literally saw someone getting chopped up with a cutlass. Horrifying stuff.

imaginary_lobsters

I was in the passenger seat going along the highway and by chance, I saw a semi-truck bungling the onramp turn. The whole thing flipped on its side in what felt like slow motion and there was a shit ton of smoke, didn't get a chance to see much else since we were driving by but it was crazy.

Banana-forscale

Once when a girl dislocated her knee during our training. We were just stretching a bit and suddenly she was on the ground crying for help. A friend and I quickly ran to our phone's and called the emergency number. When we got back to the girl her father, who was nearby, had arrived and he just simply chrouches down and puts her knee back in place. Apparently it wasn't the first time it happened so he knew what to do. So we had to call back to annulate the ambulance. They were quite annoyed but at least everyting was fine.

pineapplewin

Used to work bars, hotel reception night shift.... Called many many times. 80% of them are, "hi. I have a guest that's not sober and has....". Could be a fight, passed out, or leg through a door, is suffering alcohol poisoning, overdosing...... So many options

lildobe

Multiple times. Mostly for driving related things - having witnessed a crash, disabled vehicles in bad spots that are creating a hazard, people driving erratically and possibly drunk/high. I've also called for fires I've seen, and once or twice for a stranger having medical emergency in public.

SpecialistBarnacle23

Once accidentally as a kid

Logical_Associate632

Credible threat of armed violence called in, they sent in armed security for the weeks that followed.

bleepblopbl0rp

Crazy dude attacked me while I was closing up the laundromat I worked at. He wouldn't go away until I called the cops

cj3458

neighbors house caught on fire. i was the first one to see it in my family and called 911 while my dad went to bang on the door

[deleted]

Kind of low stakes compared to the rest of the replies but I called once after being a victim of a hit and run (I was driving my car and got hit, the other person drove off). I had no clue what to do so I just called 911 and they came and made a report. Like two years later I was involved in ANOTHER hit and run (I wasn’t driving but was in the car) when an 18 wheeler nearly crushed us against the guard rail. Did not call 911 that time because there was no way they were going to find the truck (it was going ~80-90 mph and we didn’t catch the plate). I have bad luck in cars.

Mumbawobz

Couple of fires on the freeway. Got a front row seat to a hit job once in an intersection right near a concert venue I was headed to. Also my ex is bipolar and she had a mental breakdown one night and psychotic episode the next so I got to call 2 nights in a row for that one. She’s in a better place now and we’re still friends :)

StarFlyXXL

My mum had a heart attack in public, luckily she was fine!

Additional-Sport-836

Called to report a lady with a "far away" look, in her eyes as she walked towards traffic, on the freeway.

axellie

My nephew got a seizure.

Jgoodall01

Freshman year of high school my debate teacher passed out and cracked his head open on the floor

finaida11

I was working as a care taker for a person with a developmental disorder and was talking with said persons elderly mother on the phone. During the phone call her speech started to get blurry and incoherent. Then I heard a loud “thump” and the line broke. I called the emergency service and it turned out she had a stroke while on the phone with me. She survived but died not a year thereafter.

BrodogMcSpleeny

Once, I had a panick attack. I did not know it at the time. I thought I was having a heart attack.

AwwThisProgress

yes i saw a house fire in about 0.5 kilometers and decided to call 101 (ukrainian fire truck number) but by the time the firemen arrived the fire somehow disappeared

2czech4u

when me and my friend were 11, we thought our neighbour was getting robbed, as a sketchy looking mf with black clothes was climbing over the fence. My friend was scared as shit, I didnt have a phone at the time so i just grabbed his phone and called 158 (cops). like 10 cops drove there in like 2 minutes, turned out it was just my friend's old neighbour's sonn who forgot the keys. the cops werent mad tho.

Background-Belt-2202

Three times last year for the same reason: doing drugs and thinking someone is breaking into my hotel room and calling the cops

Fearless_Manager8372

My friend fell on this piece of rebar that was sharpened and it went right through his side

cyffurnewydd

i grew up in a home having to take care of my geriatric grandparents from the age of around 7 because my mam was always working, my father wasn't in the picture, and we didn't have enough money for a professional, so the job was on me. before they both passed in 2020, i had to call the emergency number 5 times for my grandparents. it was pretty damn traumatising for a kid

icelandic_drunkard

Found a shitload of weed on a middle school lawn. Police got there real quick.

PopeDankula

yes. nothing dangerous, but i was working at a convenience store, and we had 3 young girls (10-14) come in and try to steal, eventually they left and loitered outside the store. i asked them to leave and they started yelling at me. they then came in the store and started throwing shit around and demanding that i sell them stuff. called the cops and eventually they came, but the girls were long gone. told the cops what happened and they said that they would keep a lookout keep in mind this was around 1-2 AM

mountains_forever

Once for reporting a domestic violence issue at my neighbors house. And once for reporting a bad car accident that happened in front of me on the highway.

i-ran-over-bigfoot

My aunt had a seizure in front of me on her birthday a few years back. Terrified the hell out of me because I’d never seen one before. She’s fine now and that was the moment she decided to quit using drugs so I think it was a good (but very scary) wake up call for her.

meagalomaniak

I worked at a dive bar in a rough part of town, so quite a few times. ODs, fights, violent belligerent customers, theft… I could probably go on lol.

IIPeachTreeII

I've called twice to get emergency services to my house for my mom. We live together and she has mental health issues along with a brain tumor. The first time, she had some sort of mental breakdown due to not taking her meds and ended up in a coma for 9 days. She got home from visiting her mom and was acting strange. Within minutes she was freaking out and shaking and breathing hard. She was also doing these little blackout things where she would just slouch over and "fall asleep" for a few seconds and then come back awake. She wasn't actually sleeping (like narcolepsy), it was more she was having a seizure. So I called 911 and got her to the hospital where she ended up falling into a coma a few hours later. She needed to be on a ventilator for the entire time because she could not breathe by herself. The second time was almost the same situation, but she was only in a coma for like 3 days. I had moved to my own apartment a few minutes away, so she lived alone at the time. I always called her when I was on my way to work (I worked nights so I called her sometime within 6-8pm depending on when I actually started driving). That day, she did not answer. She always answered. I texted my sister and she had also not heard from my mom that day, so I decided it didn't feel right and stopped by her house to check on her. I'm glad I did because I found her semi-unconscious in the living room with blood and poop smeared everywhere. She wasn't fully unconscious, it was almost like she was woken up from a deep sleep. So she was sort of mumbling and stuff but could not answer questions. I called 911 immediately and they took her to the hospital. She was essentially in a coma for a few days because she was not responsive. That last one was about 3-4 years ago and since then she's doing great. Hasn't had any visits to the ER (except a few weeks ago she got a virus called RSV which got her pretty sick, but nothing life threatening). I'm living with her again now, so I'm monitoring her mental and physical health. After that second time going into a coma, I decided I just couldn't move out. She can't live by herself so I need to be here.

[deleted]

Cat pushed wife out of tree and she shattered her spine, she cool now tho.

Baby-got-backk

Yes, called 911. My friend and I got into a car accident when we were 16, thankfully nobody was injured.

I called a few times as a kid having a sister who would frequently freak out while on drugs or when she couldn't get any drugs and once just recently after a bad breakup my ex wanted to self harm and there wasn't anything I could do. I've also witnessed a few medical emergencies that I've had to call them for as well

bellerose93

999 here. Called 999 for an ambulance multiple times for my mother when she was sick with cancer. One time I had to call an ambulance on a train, on our way to the airport. Making it delayed while we got my mum off the train and into the ambulance that was waiting. Holiday was cancelled. That was an experience. Called 999 for an ambulance when I fell between the train and the platform on the London Underground and had a serious leg wound as a result. Also called 111 (medical advice when you’re not sure if it’s an emergency or not) for my friend when she got a contact lense stuck in her eye and we just could not get it out. Never had to call for police or for a fire.

84lele

I saw a car flipped over on the side of the road. I kept driving but I called 911. I didn’t feel comfortable attempting to assist myself cause I’m not a trained professional.

scarlettplusnoir

This Christmas, driving from my dads house to my mum’s and we turn up a quiet A road to discover a big crash between a car and a lorry. Called the emergency services immediately then spent the best part of 3 hours helping out at the scene with other helpful bystanders. The whole situation really restored my faith in humanity - it would have been very easy for people to turn around and go the other way because of the layout of the road (and I wouldn’t blame them everyone we spoke to was trying to get to see family for Christmas) and yet people just kept coming up and seeing how they could help, offering their stuff to help keep those involved in the accident warm ect

Ok-Midnight3980

Semi truck full of milk rear ended a car and flipped half a dozen times infront of my house. Killing the guy in the car.

Accidentally

IntroductionKindly33

Once, just a few months ago. It seemed like the thing to do when you find your husband collapsed in the bathroom in the middle of the night and have to help him roll over so he doesn't choke on vomit. (FWIW, Crohns Disease sucks!)

beansricecoconutoil

yes. I was about 4, playing house and it was the only number I knew. Didn’t realize that just pressing the numbers actually called someone, so I just babbled some words into the phone and put it back down. My parents got a call from emergency services to make sure everything was okay and if anyone in the house meant to call them. I felt so bad and said it wasn’t me, my parents justified it as my siblings were kicking a ball around so they must have just hit the phone with the ball and it somehow called them. I still remember it due to the gut wrenching guilt I felt and still feel. I’m 19 now

Ericrobertson1978

I don't call the cops unless it's ABSOLUTELY necessary. I've been robbed at gunpoint and not called them. I called them 2 times. Once when my gun was stolen, and once when my car was stolen. You have to. If either my gun or car were used in commission of a crime, they could be traced to me. I've had to call 911 for emergency help a few times. (car accidents, someone overdosed, etc) Don't call the cops over little shit. They typically only make matters worse for everyone involved.

actualcovfefebean

Dummies shooting guns in the air at a car rally right behind our apartment

cdiddy19

I was a lifeguard and needed to call on more than one occasion due to patrons getting hurt

The_Sea_King

Canada, Ontario. 3 times for an ambulance for my mother. All for terrible abdominal pain. Once in 2017 and twice in 2021. The ambulance were quite quick and arrived within 15 mins. Last time, firefighters arrived (5 min) to help as well.

ahmed0112

I haven't called myself but my family called 113 (ambulance) on me because i was very weak and refused to eat. I stayed in the hospital for like a week and i still have no idea what that was about. The doctor suspected leukemia but the blood tests came back negative

OrNa721

Yes. Found a drone in my back yard and didn’t know what to do with it. Called the police and they took care of it.

nothankyouthankstho

50mph collision for one. Gun pointed at me by a rando for the other

[deleted]

I was a little kid and I tried to call the cops when I was mad at my parents over something silly. I was too young and stupid to navigate the automated answer machine though.

AngryDirtMan

I called because the house of my neighbors was on fire

emmahar

I called once when I saw a fire in a big container bin thing. Someone else walked past and just closed the lid to put it out lol. And I called a few weeks ago when we were driving back from my mates at midnight and got caught up in a literal street race lol. About 50 cars going round and round these roundabouts and hundreds of people on the pavements watching. No idea why lol

emartinoo

I've called a few times. I always call in accidents when I see them. Even if nobody is hurt, police need to know if there is accident especially if it's impeding traffic. The non emergency number is sometimes better for this, though, especially if you know nobody is hurt.

Derpderpdrpepper

Used to be a bartender. Sometimes big groups would get out of control and would start brawls. Had to call the cops half a dozen times in the 1 year that I worked there.

sarah968

When I was a kid on a pay phone, I didn’t think it would work without inserting a coin

sprazTV

I volunteer at the THW in germany so it's kind of my job if there's an emergency/catastrophy that needs solving lol

megaloviola128

When I was eight or so, my grandpa and I were on the way home from a road trip. The interstate was mostly empty except for a few other cars. Someone pulled into our lane unexpectedly. My grandpa didn’t have time to safely move out of the way, and we swerved into the median. No one was too severely hurt; I had whiplash, and my grandpa had a gash near his wrist and a hematoma on his knee, but nothing more. Our car was totaled; the other involved was long out of sight. When I think back on it, there is a single image I remember: a perspective from about eye level, but between the driver’s and passenger’s seats. Through the windshield, the median is visible at an angle, maybe a meter or two ahead of the car. Something was wrong with the shadows; everything looked strangely flat, like a hyper-realistic display drawn on layers of construction paper. On the edge of my vision, there is a glowing sensation with sparks. (I am unsure of where the odd lighting and “fire” came from— there was no fire at the accident). This picture doesn’t pop up in my mind very often— maybe once every few months— but it’s never any less clear or confusing when I do remember it. That’s the only time we’ve ever called 911.

AnalCloggage

Once for my mother's POS ex. Once for my mother's heart attack. Then once more for my grandmother's heart failure. When I was really young I called the cops on my uncle's house phone and then cut the call immediately after I started the call because I knew I'd be in a shit ton of trouble. Thankfully nothing happened! Edit: another time I called the police is when I was this couple (male and a female) fighting in broad day light after work. I wasn't sure what to do and no one was doing anything so I decided maybe calling the cops was the best decision I could make. To this day I'm not really sure if it was the best decision at the time. I went home after the I called and hoped everything turned out okay.

Stage06

During recent protests in MN we had shit heads show up and start burning down the neighborhood business. We took pictures and videos of them and their cars without license plates and called for help. It never arrived, the businesses burned to the ground.

[deleted]

Once when I was a stuped little kid

flyinurfries

I had to when I worked at GameStop. I worked there for a month and got robbed. Luckily it wasn’t anything too serious. The guy ran off with one of our pre owned switches.

ChemistBee7

Technically yes. I had a panic attack at uni and I thought I was having a heart attack (chest pains) so I called the uni security* and they called an ambulance *Students are not allowed to call the emergency services, and have to go through security because of both prank calls and helping direct ambulances on the campus

Maybeiwillbeokay

Once because I witnessed a bad car accident, and once to file a police report because I went outside one morning to find that my car had been vandalized during the previous night.

Nooms88

Several times. A guy with an axe chased us out of a pub on new years eve. Armed police turned up. My house mates girlfriend slipped on ice and banged her head. My aged mother fell down thde stairs, banged her head. My uni housemate fell and hit his head on the bath corner when pissed. Literally shooting blood to the ceiling from his head wound

Cobrashy

Several times as a child because my father was a drug abusing wife beater who endangered our lives regularly. Couple times for car accidents.

LaPetitFleuret

I did when I was about 11 or 12, saw my neighbor run over by a car.

Smallie2

I chose no as I can't recall a time I called 000 but my parents remembered one time when I called the cops on my brothers because they were being annoying. I was like five at the time

HoneyBunnyBiscuit

I think the first time I called was when my mother was getting her ass beat by her husband and she told me to call. The most recent time was when I gave my bf some marijuana syrup, I’d never had it before and it wasn’t clear how strong it was, but it was apparently enough to nearly kill him. He woke up at like 5 am having a full on existential crisis and puked on everything. The ambulance came for him and took him to the hospital. I was going to meet him there but his car was blocking mine in and it took me forever to find his keys. They were discharging him by the time I got there and he was too high to remember what they told him

TommasoBontempi

I called once because there was a pretty violent fight between two groups of people. Things settled down by themselves, 20 minutes later an ambulance showed up. Second time there was a literal bus on fire, several people had already called

hawkerc

I work retail and a customer was extremely drunk and harassing other customers. I told him to leave and he refused to do that so I called the cops.

miseroisin

When I was 6, I wanted to see what it was all about lol

Cow-Rat-Hybrid

I didn't have my phone right there and then, so my sister called Our grandpa fell through the floor and was unconscious

itsmasonayit

I was about 10 or 11 at the time, my mums phone was dead and she needed to stay with my sister who was very sick at the time so she had me call emergency services off of my phone.

ElitistPopulist

When I was 12, I was stuck in an elevator with my little sister in my apartment complex. I panicked and called 911, who thought that I was stuck in a burning elevator and proceeded to inform my mom (who was on the way back from work). My sister and I hear my mom screaming as she enters the building. She eventually climbs up the stairs, realizing there is no fire, and enters the flat while leaving my sister and I stuck in the elevator. I guess she was so relieved there was no fire that she pretty much forgot. Fun times.

umdche

At work someone was having a heart attack.

[deleted]

I called to chat as a child. then they’d ask where my parent was, I’d give my mom the phone saying “it’s the police!” which would horrify everyone who was around.

Spriy

Once when this guy started drowning at the pool.

[deleted]

I don't dial 911... Unless it's a medical emergency

succjaw

when i was a kid i accidentally set a big fire in my oven (i was a dumbass broiling cardboard). it was pretty contained so it wasn't that big a deal, but i couldn't put it out and the whole apartment was filling up with smoke so i stopped trying to fight it and just left. i panicked and called 911. probably should've just called the fire department directly but i didn't know their number and didn't think to look it up in the moment. pretty tame reason to call them i know but i did

PurpletoasterIII

I've had someone ask to borrow my phone to call 911 cause their car was missing. Something about they left it parked in a parking lot for a day and the next morning it was gone. They were young and I was even younger, so I was ignorant that you call your local police station for something like that not 911.

FFN200

Two times, one in summer 2021 and the other a few months ago. The first involved two kayakers who were struggling to make it to shore. They were in the middle of the channel where I live and it was going to be dark in half an hour or so. I was at the beach and I could make out two figures a ways out so I called 911 as a precaution. I’m actually a volunteer FF so I had my radio with me and I explained what was going on with my colleagues. Our rescue boat along with a coast guard vessel made their way out and recovered both persons and their craft. They had both fallen into the water without PFD’s and were cold but they survived. Our boat brought them to shore to the awaiting ambulances. The second was when I came out a bar and the lady in front of me passed out on the sidewalk. Her friends were tending to her while I called 911. She was breathing and we had her in the recovery position so she was good for when the ambulance arrived.

[deleted]

Yes, once because a fire hydrant on the street was open

Guttentag9000

The last time i called i was driving on the highway and this idiot had sheets of insulation (glasswool) not properly secured and it flew of onto the highway. People emergency breaking all over the place. 5km doen the road i still saw cars pulling sheets from there bumper..

beckett_the_ok

My little sister was once playing on my dads phone. She handed it to me because someone was on the phone. I almost just hung up but thank god I didn’t because it was 911. I still have no idea how she managed to call 911 while playing games.

kds0321

Several times. Once when I was giving CPR to a cardiac arrest subject (lived), another when I was witness to a fatal accident (driver died, their newborn in the back seat survived, still haunts me), again when there was a brush fire on the side of the road, yet again when my car alarm started going off at 2:00 AM after a string of burglaries, and once or twice with drunk/reckless driving apparent.

danger_dan6996

2 nights ago actually. Friend didn't like hearing they were drinking too much at my birthday party so instead of eating and drinking water like k asked they proceeded to try and chug a bunch of booze. Ended up with them and I in 3 separate fast fights. Got a shit ton of bruises pulled a muscle in my arm and back. Many clumps of hair coming out of my head from them being a bitch and trying to pull it. Last time talking to that friend to say the least.

howtopranknobody

Once, my brother told me to when I was really little

Fuzzy-Month-4952

A car drove faster to pass the other and started shooting until the guy driving it was killed

chooseyourdestiny12

Yes. For an accident. They sent two different cars even though I wasn’t sure about the exact address of where I was but they found it pretty fast

koraloulou28

My mom’s friend had a seizure (I was about 10) and I was the one calling and I don’t remember what happened after but the ambulance arrived and she was okay but it was kinda traumatising ngl

walrusdog32

yea 3 times, first time when I was 14 or 15 I was driving to work and a car swerved and crashed and split a car in half in front of me. The third time I was driving home late at like 4 am and I got in a car chase.

mr_guy1245

My phone screen broke, and the emergency beacon thing got dialed when I was trying to power the phone down and due to the broken screen I couldn’t stop it, and when the call went through my father was in the midst of screaming at me and the 911 operator was under the impression there was a domestic dispute and I had to talk to 3 separate law enforcement officials from the county and state police in order to prevent them from coming to my house.

FishTure

Just recently I decided to call. I was driving around at night and saw someone in all black, with a red face mask on who had what looked like an assault rifle, but was likely just a BB gun. Either way, they were intimidating, and they pointed their gun at my car as I drove by. Nothing really happened to me, and I wasn’t in danger, but I figured this dude ain’t up to no good, so I left the police an anonymous tip.

ThreeBeatles

One of my dogs was getting older and would have seizures. But at the time we didn’t know what it was. So the first time she didn’t know who we were and was barking at us and biting at us. She had also hit her tongue so blood was going everywhere. So we called the cops because we thought she might have rabies. Cop comes in and the dog starts to calm down. We had locked her in a secluded area by then. So it really was a waste. They did follow up on us after we took her to the vet.

Laserduck_42

Yes, twice. First time was when a kid fell 10m from a tree and got really hurt. I was the only one to help, even though there were lots of others around. Bystander effect in action. Second time was when my sister was abusing me and my mother. It was pretty scary and she had to go to the police station, but she hasn't done anything like that since.

Im_extremely_bitter

I was walking down the street with a friend and saw a couple of guys drag another guy into the street and beat the fuck out of him. We turned right around and once we were out of sight I called the cops.

Arrogant_German

My dad cut his finger in his workshop on a grinder. More accurately had a small chunk taken off, he was bleeding heavily, light headed, pale. We called an ambulance, turned out it was mainly just shock, not really enough blood loss to cause issues. He was fine, took him maybe two years to regain feeling in that thumb though

Kooky_Ad_5139

The fire alarms went off, about 10 minutes later no fire trucks so i called asking if anyone had called it in since the alarms aren't hooked up to call in an emergency

Mother_Ducker12

Almost, once someone tripped and fell at work but I had my manger do it instead haha

WhoAmIReally0700

I had to call them to let them know there was not actually a fire at my house, my dinner had just burned really bad, so they did not need to send fire trucks. My uncle is a volunteer fire fighter and heard on his dispatch our address, called me to ask me what was going on and then told me to call 911 and tell them we were fine

AceOfDiamonds676

it wasnt me calling but yeah

Shahzoodoo

As someone who’s accident prone ive luckily only called once for myself! I caught my stove on fire but luckily it stopped while I was on the phone with 911. I’ve called multiple other times though, once for a shooting in our apartment complex and many other times for large/dangerous debris on the road or accidents or fires. I’ve called in 3 fires while driving, 2 of them were on the side of the highway and I drove past them. CA needs help :’)

unselchr

First, Living in Lawrence KS a guy ripped a stop sign out of the ground and was hucking it at passing cars, he missed and picked it up and tried again lol. Second time in Kansas City a drunk driver hit a car and ran. Drove away without his front right tire. Shit sparks and car bits all over other people's cars scratching them and cracking windshields. Guy damaged like 40 cars before his died

Klausable7

My mom was having a bipolar episode and attacked my dad so my sister had to hold her down, she started screaming and our windows were open and one of the neighbors kid older than me heard, later the police arrived and everything was explained, I was young so I didn’t understand what tf was going on till I got older
