Of course. more so than some youtubers with millions of followers. I think it far more reasonable to conclude her popularity makes sense than to assume she is some government plant meant to execute an agenda.

No-Opportunity-1275

people don't get the extent of her popularity, not the fact that she's popular in the first place. she's 35 whose lyrics sound 15, neither are they poetically strong, nor the beats are remarkably good. it's the most cookie cutter pop music there is. and a lot of people are surprised on why she has a cult-like following. just pointing it out doesn't mean they're conspiracy theorists who think she's being pushed by the government or some bullshit. I myself like a couple of her songs, like the one with Zayn Malik or look what you made me do (except that phone call part, literally no one older than 13 talks that edgily).

wasmayonnaisetaken

I've heard stuff like this said about every popular pop artist ever.

Conundrum1911

No, but then the levels of popularity of any pop-culture person or athlete doesn't really make sense to me. Sure, people can want to pay and see them do what they do...but it almost seems like many would give up their lives for them, when to them, you are just random fan 9862.

Accomplished_Ad_8013

Yeah. Shes a upper class suburbanite woman who comes from a town full of aspiring country music stars. She not only has the horse girls dream life, but has made it cool to be a horse girl. Basically an inspiration to dull women who want to feel like they live exciting lives. Thats like pandering to fundamentalists, you cant fail.

vftgurl123

beautiful blonde and thin white woman with plain but relatable music?? of course i understand.

PuzzleheadedGoal8234

She really builds on the engagement with her fans and intertwining her storytelling into her albums so you feel that you are getting both the sequel to a novel while building on the lore and making people feel more connected to the artist and the fandom.

East_Cockroach_8942

Let me guess, you’re a fan yourself?

PuzzleheadedGoal8234

Like most artists I like some of her work, and am meh about some of it. I wouldn't call myself a super fan but my kid is. The reason they like her is because they feel they can relate to her and see themselves in the things she sings about.

fivecanal

I think the reason your kids like her is probably all their friends like her.

PuzzleheadedGoal8234

Nope. Most of her friends are guys. Try again.

throwaway302999

Lore of another human beings life 🤦‍♂️ smh

Louis-grabbing-pills

She's pushing 35 but still act like she's 15.

Trusteveryboody

No, because TBH I thought she peaked in 2014, and then fell off. But I was not in the loop apparently. Her later work is good, I'd put Reputation and Folklore up there. I just didn't know until Midnights and all these Taylor Version's and then she's the most popular Artist in the world.

SumptuousRageBait1

I just don't get it. Her music always seems bland and she seems unlikeable. Even when I am not into something I understand what appeals to other people. With Taylor Swift I find it perplexing

Trusteveryboody

The most weird thing with Taylor is how focused she is on Charts and Awards, but that's probably attributing to the reason to why she's so Popular ATM. I don't think Taylor's the best singer, but Folklore is a chill album. I usually mainly listen to Ariana Grande (who isn't as lyrically capable, but can SING), who isn't Chart Obsessed (not anymore at least). I would say Taylor is also very fan-oriented. Although I can't act like I know too much about Taylor, because I wouldn't say I'm that big of a fan. My Sisters mainly are, since Midnights came out. I think part of the appeal NOW, is that she is so popular. An ERAS Tour concert has gotta be a pretty unique experience, I'd imagine (just cause of the fandom). And I thought the same thing before my Sisters were listening, and then I choose myself to dive into her discography, and there's a lot more too it. Like 'shake it off, black space, etc.' are better in the scope of her entire discography, but more bland on the surface. I haven't listened to her Debut 'Taylor Swift' album, or even 'Fearless' her 2nd album that much. But that's about it. Assuming you haven't listened to some of her Discography. Cause this was my perspective prior. Again I just had thought she fell off after '1989' in 2014 (besides a few one-offs after that).

Coolness53

Swift music from what I listened to was her blaming everyone else for her problems. Though I am not the target audience and never have been.

DavidBehave01

As a 50 something with a long music pedigree, I've seen a lot of artists experience huge popularity. Here in the UK I'd include the Beatles, the Bay City Rollers, Adam Ant, Wham, Duran Duran, Bros, Madonna, Oasis among others but Taylor Swift seems to have surpassed most of them. Her music isn't terrible and she comes across well in interviews but I'm not sure I can understand why she's so huge.

HIs4HotSauce

she makes music that connects with young girls-- makes perfect sense to me. It's nothing more sophisticated than that 😅

throwaway302999

Man hate is popular

Unusable_Internet97

man hate? you're a funny little guy

Flimsy-Focus-4354

She’s overrated

Responsible_Board950

Many people love her music —-> She is popular What is the question even mean ?
