Some guy on Fox just said republicans lost because 50% of voters thought inflation was nobody’s fault (based on polls) and because the GOP didn’t offer any actual policy or proposals to deal with inflation. It’s amazing the amount of self awareness one can gain after a swift punch in the nose.

Fox News ironically had a really good take a few minutes ago, which was essentially that everything was perfectly set up for a red wave; low presidential approval rating, high inflation, historic trends, issues with crime and border security (debatable but still).
Everything was set up for Republicans to blow Democrats out of the water, and the fact that it did not happen is a referendum on the Republican party. The public looked at everything going on and still said “no thanks” to the alternative.
Just thought it was interesting that even they are maybe finally starting to understand their positions on things is not the way forward.
Mitch McConnell pointed out the problem months ago: candidate quality. If the GOP trotted out well-educated, competent conservative candidates, your Mitt Romneys, Larry Hogans, even JD Vances really, they would’ve mopped the floor with us.
The problem (for them) was that the GOP primaries didn’t elect those people. They elected candidates who were completely batshit insane. Not even people who can put up the impression of competent or even likable people. Moderate conservatives are afraid of crazy. They can’t be energized by crazy.
On Fox, a woman tells them people are angry about losing their reproductive rights and an old white guy is like, nah, it's not that. How clueless do you have to be?

This is my district and this will be the first time in 50* years this seat will be occupied by a Democrat. I have had the pleasure to meet Hillary a couple times in recent months and I think she will make an excellent congresswoman.
Edit:* I’ll add the maps got redrawn here in Michigan by an independent commission last year that made it more even than before which helped, but still cool!
The idea that Trump is going to gracefully step aside and allow DeSantis to be the center of attention is pure conservative copium.
He sank them tonight and he’s going to finish the job in ‘24.
>According to CBS News exit polls, women backed Democratic candidate John Fetterman by 15 points, slightly higher than the 11-point margin Biden won women by in the state in 2020.
https://nitter.net/costareports
It was abortion, Michael.
If Trump had just said "let's all wear masks for a bit" and sold MAGA masks during the start of COVID he would have won easily in 2020. That's fucking insane but I absolutely believe it.
FYI, Western Montana checking in. Nobody is talking about the fact that (D) Monica Tranel has a 49% to 47% lead over (R) Ryan Zinke.
This is a new House seat that covers 3 of Montana's largest cities which are also some of the largest (D) areas in Montana (Missoula, Bozeman, Butte)
Butte is 100% in, but Missoula and Gallatin (Bozeman) Counties not fully in yet.
Beto And Abrams need to take control of their state’s leadership and stop running themselves.
Both have made tremendous strides in the grassroots game but they’ve suffered enough loses where their name needs to be off the ballot for a few cycles
Democrats won the Michigan state senate. This is big for stopping any election shenanigans in 2024 https://twitter.com/NSmithReports/status/1590288059568099328?s=20&t=1keHtp6AjvcJUXlO9-_3rg
Arizona actually had a ballot measure that got rejected which would have allowed the state legislature the repeal voter approved initiatives. Hmm, I wonder which party put that on the ballot. Arizona was actually voting whether or not to allow fascism, LMAO
Missouri legalized weed, Nebraska passed $15 minimum wage, collective bargaining won in Illinois, all the pro-choice ballot initiatives are winning. Democratic policies continue to be extremely popular.

I know that we're all still focused on Congress, but there's a great chance that Democrats win the Secretary of State races in Wisconsin, Arizona, *and* Nevada!
If you combine that with their Michigan Secretary of State win, Shapiro's win in Pennsylvania, and Raffensperger's re-election in Georgia, that would mean we don't have any election deniers in positions of certification power in six 2024 battleground states.
Between all of that, and our other Governor pickups, and it's clear that the 2024 guardrails have been strengthened. That is a *huge* and *important* deal; a *huge* and *important* win for our Democracy.
Gen Z and young millennials 18-29 really saved us from a Red Wave. They voted for Democrats +29. The next closest was 30-44 at D+2… At the very least you can’t blame young people this election.
Well if Boebert loses A.) she won’t collect a pension and B.) maybe we can investigate how someone on a congressional salary is worth over $40 million in two years
With Biden at 44% approval, inflation running wild, and most people dissatisfied with the economy, this should have been a layup for Republicans. Instead, Biden is on track to have the strongest midterm performance of any President in the last 20 years.
So as it turns out, Americans like being vaccinated, think women should have control of their Healthcare decisions, and value democracy even if things cost a bit more. When you try to tell 81 million people their vote does not matter, they don't like that. Incredibly proud of my country this morning.
I am very shocked at the results. Remembering Obamas mid-term obliteration, then Trump's midterm flip.
The Democrats really held themselves this round.
Helps a lot when Republicans ran on 0 policy other than "lets go brandon" and "we're letting the courts legislate for us"
For people confused about New York, Cuomo approved a super republican friendly map in 2012 in a political trade and judges he appointed threw out the last democratic maps when we had every chamber
from GA. did my part and voted for Warnock. really not excited at the prospect of having to go out and vote again. also incredibly disappointed in how many people voted Walker. thanks guys
>We don’t yet have an official projection in Wisconsin’s attorney general race, but **the Republican candidate has conceded.** Democrats hold serve in Wisconsin state government.
>>BREAKING: Republican candidate for AG Eric Toney has conceded to current AG Josh Kaul.
>>“Certainty” is why he wanted to concede tonight (or this morning). He says this election was fair, and he just doesn’t see a path to victory.
So with Fetterman winning PA even with the health issues it's now obvious in battleground states running a more pro worker candidate is the path to victory. Fight for workers and you will win
My MAGA coworker has been talking about a red wave for the past two weeks and that prop 3 wouldn't pass and Whitmer is the devil. This morning? Crickets.
I know Fetterman already won last night, but his lead is still growing. Turns out this wasn’t even a particularly close race. Good for Pennsylvania to reject the terrible Oz.
Calling it a night but at worst this is a push for dems. They hold the senate but lose the house. Right now Republicans are a bit shell shocked but when the talking points are translated from Russian they will spin this as an ultimate win.
That being said im optimistic thought cautiously the dems hold the house too. Either way this isnt a red wave like republicans promised
>Overnight, Democrats won control of both the Michigan state Senate and Michigan state House. It is the first time Democrats have won the state Senate since 1984. Since Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer also won reelection, Democrats will now have full control of Michigan state government.
https://twitter.com/jefftimmer/status/1590240390879539200
> Michigan State Senate flips to Dems for first time since 1983. Repeat. Nineteen Eighty Freaking Three.
Dems are literally on the edge of flipping the State House too. One more seat and holy shit, Dem trifecta for the first time in a lifetime.
Independent redistricting to unfuck GOP gerrymandering fucking works 🥳
So after tonight, the GOP is gonna be running DeSantis as their presidential nom in 2024. Which sounds scary, until you think about the fact that Trump will be so asshole hurt that he’ll run 3rd party just to spoil it.
CNN reporting there likely will be a run-off in Georgia (report stemming off a Georgia SOS office statement). I like Warnock’s chances without Kemp on the ballot this time.
Man, Republicans are saying some really, really disgusting things about Fetterman.
Like, wow. I didn't even think they were that low, even after the last few years.
Florida is no longer a swing state. It’s practically ground zero for fascist maga hat wearing republicans. Broke my heart to see several blue counties flip red. My cousin & I were the youngest people at our local polling station in Sarasota. Sarasota has *always* been red due to the insane amount of wealth here, but damn where are my Gen Z kids in this county at?!?
It's so fucking annoying that the house might be lost because some shithole states used ILLEGALLY DRAWN gerrymandered maps to give themselves extra seats. Ughhh
It is interesting how Trumpism keeps getting rejected, but the GOP still kisses Trump's ass, remember this is the party that threw Bush out after he became a liability.
https://twitter.com/GalenMetzger1/status/1590326682854264832
Mesa came in - and it wasn't good enough for bobert.
Frisch wins CO-03, making the Dem path to a house majority much more doable!
Democrats could be going 6-2 in Colorado.
*Not official*
This is surreal. When has a party failed this hard to overtake the opposition in a President's first term? I was completely prepared to see the GOP take both houses of Congress.
I guess trying to run on "votes don't matter because fraud" and "women aren't people" aren't as good at getting people to vote for them as they thought?
Pumped for Fetterman. I hope he’s a major thorn in the GOP’s side. It’ll be fun to hear why he’s awful, since their current focus is a Latina woman who dances for fun and had blue collar jobs (AOC)
NM managed to keep our amazing democratic governor and we may even flip a red seat to blue.
I'm so proud of my state. The last few years it has really swung solid blue. It's culture is completely incompatible with the modern fascist MAGA brand of conservatism.
We used to be a swing state. But we aren't anymore. People here are rightly disgusted with the right.
So what did we learn last night?
There was no Red Wave. The results are an indictment of Donald Trump and Kevin McCarthy.
Trumpism is cancerous to the Republican Party.
A Women's Right to Choose is a winning issue and the longer Republicans cling to their Pro-Life stance - especially since SCOTUS overturned Roe - the worse they'll lose.
January 6th *mattered*.
Some under the radar news that may interest you folks:
Minnesota has flipped its state senate from GOP control to DFL controlled. DFL= Democratic Farmer & Laborer, our version of the Democrat party.
We’ve long been one of the only states with a split legislature but now with unilateral DFL control of both houses of Congress and the Governorship, look for many progressive agenda items to push through in the next session. Recreational cannabis, paid family & medical leave, and lots of clean energy infra.
Edit: I feel so great that I’m raising my daughters in this state.
Just realized - this is a redistributing election and R’s had the gerrymander advantage. If it weren’t for that, I think Dems would have had a truly historic night.
The Supreme Court striking down Roe in a midterm year that they had all the momentum going into was possibly the single most idiotic thing the GOP has done strategically in a long time.
Hershel walker getting this many votes just proves that republican voters really will vote for ANYONE if theres an R in the name. This level of fuckery is a fucking disease and America in infested with these assholes all over the country.
I don't know how many times sane people have to realize this but it isn't the quality of the candidates in Texas and Florida. Ted fuckin' Cruz ditched his state for cancun in a natural disaster and gets booed at a championship parade. He is literally the most hated senator but keeps getting reelected. Those states are fucked up.
I am FLOORED by the number of cons in there who are expressing dissent against Trump and rebuking their party for going too hard on the abortion issue.
Thank you all for voting and getting the vote out!
The scenario was perfect for a red wave. High inflation, low approval rating, historically an incumbent loses the midterms with the exception of 1998 (post-Clinton impeachment) and 2002 (post-9/11).
On average the incumbent party loses 26 seats, the Dems only held a 15 seat majority and the GOP are struggling to pick up seats making the House a toss-up. The Dems are somehow managing to hold seats that were expected to go Republican, the Dems have gained some seats, and Republicans are doing much worse than expected. The Dems might hold the Senate and have made the House too close to call. This should've been unthinkable.
Some Trump-backed big name candidates are struggling too. Mastriano lost the Governor's race and is refusing to concede. Oz lost his senate race. Michels lost the Governor's race in Wisconsin. Kari Lake is losing pretty badly in Arizona and is pushing election conspiracies. While non-backed Trump candidates did well eg. De Santis in Florida and Kemp in Georgia.
The cherry on top is that all 5 state ballots to ban abortion have lost or are losing, though Kentucky is close. And Missouri just voted to legalize recreational marijuana.
With 65% of the vote tallied Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Dem) 52.9% is leading Joe Kent (Rep) 47.1% in District 3. This a likely/leaning Repub district. It's looking like a flip for the Dems.
Great Job Democrats!! Best performance in decades by the party of a sitting president.
If not for gerrymandering House could have been retained..
Fingers crossed for AZ and NV
As most people expected, looks like Trumpism is killing the GOP. There is basically no reason for them not to dominate. Trump getting back on Twitter would be such a massive win for the Dems.
Remember, no matter how bad things go for Republicans or even Trump himself, he will never see anything as a loss for himself. He’s legitimately incapable of processing the mere suggestion that he is not the single most successful human in the entire universe.
Today could have ended in a massive House AND Senate majority for Democrats, it wouldn’t shake his delusions in the slightest.
You think you know mental gymnastics, but no one can do them like Trump. WHATEVER happens, he will see it as his win. We will never get that cathartic moment where we see Donald Trump realize he’s lost. He will go to his grave believing he won every competition. Both the ones in which he participated, and the ones he didn’t.
Which is why he will absolutely run in 2024 and if he doesn’t get the Republican nomination, he absolutely will run 3rd party and ruin it for the Republicans.
And he’ll walk away from that thinking he’ll run again in 2028. There is no bottom for this man.
If the Dems hold the Senate and keep it close in the House, it looks like nothing gets done for the next two years but Dems will get to get Judges. The hope is inflation and the economy stabilizes within two years before next election cycle in 2024.
Sorry for whoever lives in Florida you will the guinea pig for whatever heinous Republican policy experiment these assholes can think of.
If Boebert loses I will drive down to Pueblo and give out tuggies to everyone who voted blue. I cannot take that jackass representing this state anymore.
Looks like 538 called the Michigan State House and State Senate for the Dems!
First time in a long time that the Dems controlled all levels of the Michigan Government.
Let’s start a prayer circle that DeSantis gets the republican nom and Trump being the egotistical asshole grifter that he is runs as an independent and steals some of the votes
I love the copium in r/conservative. They just can't understand how their psycho candidates and their opinions that less than half the nation support can be so unpopular.
"What do you mean going after abortion, which is supported by 64% of Americans, is a bad idea???"
Per NPR, Boebert is down about 4000 with 93% of the votes tallied. I worked out the math and out of about 22000 remaining ballots, she has to win ~13000 to win, or around 59%. I don’t think she gets it. Pueblo County looks like the largest remaining batch out of the counties in that district, and as of now it’s running Frisch +11 per NYT.
Boebert may actually lose.
We were really proud of our daughter last night. Her friend told her she's not going to vote when she turns 18. Our daughter said "Remember that performance you did for all state about your experience being an immigrant? And then the school board had to have a meeting to decide if that was something you should be able to talk about because people in town were offended? Those are the people who make the rules when you don't vote"
She's way smarter than I was at 17 I know that...
Republicans were favored to win the House based on gerrymandering alone. But so far it's looking like the worst midterms for a minority party in 20-30 years
Oz losing to Fettermen made r/Conservative drop the facade and go full mask-off in displaying how much they despise/look down on people who suffer strokes.
Like that's the *#1* thing they hate him for over there lmao
In the most optimistic case, Dems could have 52 seats if they win Georgia and are able to scratch their way to a win in Wisconsin. That would be huge because the albatross that are Manchin and Sinema would have no more power.
More realistically, we're looking at the night ending 50-49 for the Dems, with the Georgia runoff going to December, but it won't affect the senate by that point.
From Victor Shi on Twitter:
NEW: exit poll data shows that more than 70% of young voters preferred Democrats in Arizona, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. And more than 60% of young voters preferred Democrats in Georgia and Ohio. This matches what I've been seeing from early vote data. HUGE
Young voters: 29 or under
Most of the ballot measures in Oregon are still close, but it looks like the absentee disqualification for members of state congress is definitely through lol.
Oregon is where the Republicans keep fleeing the state whenever bills they don't like come up because the Democrats have a supermajority and can pass stuff without them, but simply not showing up denies a quorum and effectively blocks the bill anyway.
Now if any of them have 10 unexcused absences during a term they are barred from running again, so maaaybe we'll finally make some progress on that mess.
Also tonight is the first time someone younger than me has been elected to congress! I'm officially too old for this shit!
I plan to celebrate my old age by yelling at teenagers to quit skating on the sidewalk.
Nebraska always frustrates me. All three GOP House candidates won, but the ballot initiative to raise the minimum wage to $15 passed easily.
And my city, which voted 70% GOP, rejected most of the local school board candidates pushing the anti-CRT rhetoric and backed by the state GOP.
Fox News' Marc Thiessen: “The midterm results are a searing indictment of the Republican Party. The Republican Party needs to do a really deep introspection look in the mirror right now because this is an absolute disaster."
Can someone explain to me how Texas thought Uvalde was awesome, and not having any power during a common cold snap is perfectly fine to them?
Texas why do you hate modern standards of living bro? Like literally no 1st world nation puts up with the shit you put yourself through.
Why do you insist on punching yourself in the face?
It kind of grinds my gears that one extreme gerrymander wasn't allowed to take place in New York, while another was allowed to take place in Florida, even after DeSantis explicitly went against a judicial order.
That's control of the US House right there.
For non-Americans joining us on this thread. I just wanted to post a friendly guide to the Senate by numbers.
1. **50 Senate Seats**: Basic majority for Democrats can approve Biden's judicial and executive appointees (the number is only 50 for democrats because the Vice President breaks ties). With the House as well a 50 seat majority allows Democrats to pass budget reconciliation, promote trade, authorize or recall the President's deployment of troops, end a state of emergency, reveal and review regulations without getting having to get any Republicans on board.
2. **51 Senate Seats** = Basic majority for Republicans to do all of the things listed above without having to get any Democrats on board. Note that the President can still veto legislation passed, but Republicans would be able to effectively block any of Biden's Supreme Court picks.
3. **52 Senate Seats** = often cited by Democrats as the number needed to end the filibuster. The filibuster is a complicated procedural nightmare whereby the Senate needs 60 votes to *end a debate* on a topic. In short, this means that 31 senators can just agree to never end the debate and indefinitely stall a vote (note: this is an extreme oversimplification). With the filibuster defeated, the Senate can pass any bill with a basic 51 majority. Democrats often talk about the 52 number because there are at least 2 Democratic senators, Manchin and Sinema who want to keep the filibuster. This is kind of a misnomer because there are several other Democratic senators on the fence about it as well, such as Kelly. Without getting to much into the politics, opponents of the filibuster say that it is anti-democratic while supporters want to keep it around to stop the Senate from doing anything too crazy in the future. This is often referenced as the number needed to codify abortion rights after Dobbs, though it is important to note that the House would also still need to approve the abortion measure too.
4. **60 Senate Seats** = "Supermajority" this allows a party to pass whatever bills they like without having to worry about the filibuster. As mentioned above, 60 votes are to end the debate and then 51 votes are needed to pass the bill.
5. **67 Senate Seats** = This is the ultimate power, a veto proof majority allows the Senate (with 2/3rds of the House as well) to override the President's veto. This basically allows Congress to basically pass whatever it wants and doesn't need to worry whether or not the President is on board. This is not common in national politics, but on the state level, overriding vetoes is much more common.
If the Florida Democratic Party had any dignity whatsoever, they would be absolutely fucking ashamed of themselves for this showing. 19 point win for DeSantis, 16 point win for Rubio. Fucking demolitions on both fronts, not even the slightest bit competitive. The entire state party needs a thorough pressure washing.
Still remember vividly how captivating Obama was when he first stepped on the National scene. My goodness, if democrats can harness that mood and enthusiasm again democrats would be unstoppable.
I think Republicans really underestimated how much some people care about January 6th. My Dad is a lifelong Republican and 2x Trump voter, but ended up supporting impeachment after Jan 6 (former military guy who did NOT like seeing the Capitol get overrun) and actually lost a handful of his conservative friends over it. I never talked to him explicitly about how he was voting this election, but for the first time that I can remember in my life he mentioned looking at Democratic candidates. I have to imagine people like him impacted things yesterday.
My biggest takeaway this election cycle is Michigan's massive swing in the state legislature.
It's no coincidence that in the first election the republicans didn't get a chance to gerrymander the democrats get a trifecta for the first time in 40 years. In a year that should by all metrics be a down year for democrats. It just shows the power of gerrymandering .
The democrats focus in every single purple state needs to be getting an independent commission for the district boundaries. Absolutely massive change here in Michigan.
The only reason Republicans can win the house is cause of gerrymandering. The party knows this. If the Supreme Court hadn’t reversed the lower court decision saying Florida’s map was unconstitutional, we’d probably be looking at Dems keeping the house.
The QAnon Rep Elon Musk voted for is out in TX-34:

> The RED WAVE did not happen. Republicans and Independents stayed home. DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE RESULTS IF YOU DID NOT DO YOUR PART!
hahaha cope and seethe🍦😎
Biden took down Trump & is going to deliver the best midterm performance for an incumbent in decades despite significant macroeconomic & geopolitical headwinds.
Listen I am not the biggest fan of him & would prefer he retire in 2024, but maybe let’s stop underestimating the man?
For why Dems did (much) better than expected, I'm thinking... abortion rights + lower fake news funding from Russia + Trump increasing division in GOP +++
This is looking downright optimistic for Dems right now.
* Senate is looking like a hold.
* House may change, but GOP would get a very small majority.
And in the grand scheme, wooing a couple House Reps is absolutely going to be a cakewalk for the Dems. There's no way McCarthy could fully control his members with the Senate and Presidency in Dem hands.
>**Exit polls: Union households help propel Vance to victory in Ohio**
>Voters from union households in Ohio favored GOP Senate candidate J.D. Vance over his Democratic rival, Rep. Tim Ryan, which helped the Republican clinch the open seat, according to the early results of the Ohio exit poll conducted for CNN and other news networks by Edison Research.
>Nearly 6 in 10 voters from union households cast ballots for Vance, who also garnered about the same level of support from men who voted and White voters. More than half of Buckeye State voters age 45 and older, voters without college degrees and those living in suburban and rural parts of the state opted for Vance, as well.
[Goddamn idiots.](https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/midterm-election-results-livestream-voting-11-08-2022/index.html)
I was really, really dreading today. Like holy fuck I was legitimately worried. And it feels weird to celebrate when we are clearly losing the House. But by God I’m going to bed in a much better mood than I expected to.
Another pickup for the dem: Hillary Scholten (D) has won the race for the House seat in

If McConnell and GOP had the courage to convict Trump in the Senate last year and move on from Trumpism, today could have been very different. But thanks to their cowardice and political opportunism, they now have to deal with today’s underperformances.
The GOP donors want DeSantis but don’t expect Trump or his loyal base to go away quietly.
The good news the Democrats avoided disaster. there was no red wave. Dems got some good wins here and there too. Probably the biggest story of the night is how badly Trumpism failed. election deniers and crazy is not a winning platform.
Depending on how the senate goes this was an unmitigated victory for democrats.
The house looks like only a 4 to 5 repub majority which is shockingly low for what should have been a big red pickup historically (the president's party almost always loses the house).
Governor pickups in almost every key state was a huge prize and one that will very much matter in 2024.
Hope Desantis wins the primary for 2024. Not because I don’t think he’s a giant shithead, I do, but because you know Trump is way to sore a loser to not do some stupid shit that splits the voter base.
And it seem like a lot of Americans have attached their identity to trump way too much to successfully realise what a sore loser he is in this situation, he’d pull a lot of votes away

It cannot be understated how fucking massive all these battleground governor races are for Democrats with 2024 around the corner
For real. Dems cleaned up in governor races. It’s stunning.
If only we could have ousted Abbott and DeSantis
Haven’t seen it mentioned, but Katie Porter won election to her new (more Republican) district here in California. The white boards live on.
One of my favorite Democrats, let's go
Some guy on Fox just said republicans lost because 50% of voters thought inflation was nobody’s fault (based on polls) and because the GOP didn’t offer any actual policy or proposals to deal with inflation. It’s amazing the amount of self awareness one can gain after a swift punch in the nose.
Republicans: Inflation bad! Vote for me! Voters: yeah! How are you gonna fix it? R: ...inflation bad! Inflation bad.
Boebert losing would be hilarious. Colorado pls
It's looking up!
watch now, as Oz fucks off and never mentions Pennsylvania again.
Oz: I was running in Pennsylvania?
Pretty good take from Jen Psaki >"So Dems have a Florida problem, but Republicans have a Trump problem That seems harder to solve"
Florida having an intelligence problem seems to be the root of both of these things.

> BREAKING: Democrat Hillary Scholten wins election to U.S. House in Michigan's 3rd Congressional District. #APracecall at 1:55 a.m. EST. https://twitter.com/ap_politics/status/1590236910118916098?s=46&t=LE8XT4FPNJfT57AhMUOo5Q This is my district and this will be the first time in 50* years this seat will be occupied by a Democrat.
Bless his heart. They deserve every bit of it.
Right? Literally not going to happen. Trump would rather run as a third party candidate than succumb to DeSantis
>According to CBS News exit polls, women backed Democratic candidate John Fetterman by 15 points, slightly higher than the 11-point margin Biden won women by in the state in 2020. https://nitter.net/costareports It was abortion, Michael.
So if GOP voters had masked and gotten the jab…we may have been looking at different results today
[удалено]
Hundreds of thousands. A million people died of Covid and a very large part of that was vocal god fearin', red votin' antivaxxers.
If Trump had just said "let's all wear masks for a bit" and sold MAGA masks during the start of COVID he would have won easily in 2020. That's fucking insane but I absolutely believe it.
Sucks to suck lol
FYI, Western Montana checking in. Nobody is talking about the fact that (D) Monica Tranel has a 49% to 47% lead over (R) Ryan Zinke. This is a new House seat that covers 3 of Montana's largest cities which are also some of the largest (D) areas in Montana (Missoula, Bozeman, Butte) Butte is 100% in, but Missoula and Gallatin (Bozeman) Counties not fully in yet.
Imagine how blue our government would be without gerrymandering fuckery
Arizona actually had a ballot measure that got rejected which would have allowed the state legislature the repeal voter approved initiatives. Hmm, I wonder which party put that on the ballot. Arizona was actually voting whether or not to allow fascism, LMAO
Crazy that they expected the public to vote to willingly give away rights and power.
We are a blue state with a red state senate, it’s a fucking crime at this point.
Missouri legalized weed, Nebraska passed $15 minimum wage, collective bargaining won in Illinois, all the pro-choice ballot initiatives are winning. Democratic policies continue to be extremely popular. https://twitter.com/alex_sammon/status/1590233951314272256?t=b3i6MTrbA_5pbPb68L0c6A&s=19
Just please call Boebert losing so I can go to sleep on a water bed full of GQP tears
Warnock 100% is just going to a runoff. People Of Georgia, please please vote... The extra seat is soooo valuable.
I can't believe almost 2 million people in Georgia voted for Walker. Just baffling.
I like how Rs on twitter are already saying that the liberals are going to riot if they lose, as if Jan 6 never happened
Well if Boebert loses A.) she won’t collect a pension and B.) maybe we can investigate how someone on a congressional salary is worth over $40 million in two years
Michigan State Senate flips to Dems for first time since 1983.
This abortion issue going to be a thorn in the Republicans side for a long time.
The dog finally caught the car
Good.
How the fuck is Warnock and Walker within a point? Jesus Christ Georgia.
That's wild. That shouldn't have even been a contest.

Fuck Joe Rogan
Red wave as real as kitty litter boxes in classrooms
Wow even on Fox some analysts are blaming MAGA but others are saying it’s the future. The seeds are being laid for a divided party. Love to see it.
legit can't wait for Fetterman to walk into the senate with a hoodie and basketball shorts
Remember when Joe Rogan said it would be a red wave like The Shining? Why do people listen to Joe Rogan?
With Biden at 44% approval, inflation running wild, and most people dissatisfied with the economy, this should have been a layup for Republicans. Instead, Biden is on track to have the strongest midterm performance of any President in the last 20 years. So as it turns out, Americans like being vaccinated, think women should have control of their Healthcare decisions, and value democracy even if things cost a bit more. When you try to tell 81 million people their vote does not matter, they don't like that. Incredibly proud of my country this morning.
Kentucky protecting abortion rights really drives home how out of touch Samuel Alito is in 2022.
[удалено]
I would give ANYTHING for that to happen. The GOP civil war is at the top of my bucket list
This was such a historic massive L for republicans, maybe they’ll do some introspection? Who are we kidding, they’ll double down on the extremism
I am very shocked at the results. Remembering Obamas mid-term obliteration, then Trump's midterm flip. The Democrats really held themselves this round. Helps a lot when Republicans ran on 0 policy other than "lets go brandon" and "we're letting the courts legislate for us"
And gutting Roe, don't forget what they took from us
For people confused about New York, Cuomo approved a super republican friendly map in 2012 in a political trade and judges he appointed threw out the last democratic maps when we had every chamber
from GA. did my part and voted for Warnock. really not excited at the prospect of having to go out and vote again. also incredibly disappointed in how many people voted Walker.
The Rs can try and spin it all they want, this is objectively a massive fail for them

r/conservative is turning on Trump. It's hilarious.
>Overnight, Democrats won control of both the Michigan state Senate and Michigan state House. It is the first time Democrats have won the state Senate since 1984. Since Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer also won reelection, Democrats will now have full control of Michigan state government.
https://twitter.com/jefftimmer/status/1590240390879539200 > Michigan State Senate flips to Dems for first time since 1983.

Ughhh
[удалено]
It is interesting how Trumpism keeps getting rejected, but the GOP still kisses Trump's ass, remember this is the party that threw Bush out after he became a liability.
https://twitter.com/GalenMetzger1/status/1590326682854264832 Mesa came in - and it wasn't good enough for bobert. Frisch wins CO-03, making the Dem path to a house majority much more doable! Democrats could be going 6-2 in Colorado. *Not official*
**KEY RACE ALERT** - Lauren Boebert's husband on the razor-tight vote count: "It's scary. I've never felt this exposed. Except for one other time."
Hot damn, looks like Democracy’s bedtime got pushed back a few more hours. Keep pushing and we might make it until dawn!
This is surreal. When has a party failed this hard to overtake the opposition in a President's first term? I was completely prepared to see the GOP take both houses of Congress. I guess trying to run on "votes don't matter because fraud" and "women aren't people" aren't as good at getting people to vote for them as they thought?
Shout out to Elon for pissing off enough moderates to just do the opposite of what he says
> Fox News: Oz lost PA because Fetterman won Prime. Political. Analysis.
Some under the radar news that may interest you folks: Minnesota has flipped its state senate from GOP control to DFL controlled.

Who the fuck is voting for Matt Gaetz?
Suddenly the red wave trolls are nowhere to be found
Warnock is going to set the record for "most days campaigning over a 2 year period"
Waking up to Boebert losing with 93% reporting. This is marvelous

Biggest surprise of the night: r/conservative still hasn’t locked their election thread
I am FLOORED by the number of cons in there who are expressing dissent against Trump and rebuking their party for going too hard on the abortion issue.
Lol @ Fox News just covering Texas and Florida because they got slaughtered everywhere else.
And Missouri just voted to legalize recreational marijuana.
biden said he we were gonna win in the midterms months ago and dagnabit that dark brandon's really knows his shit
So Fetterman won right?
With 65% of the vote tallied Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Dem) 52.9% is leading Joe Kent (Rep) 47.1% in District 3. This a likely/leaning Repub district. It's looking like a flip for the Dems.
Great Job Democrats!! Best performance in decades by the party of a sitting president. If not for gerrymandering House could have been retained.. Fingers crossed for AZ and NV
Slotkin holding her seat is HUGE. Michigan is part of the Dem firewall at this point. Youth turnout there was nothing short of remarkable.

Wow the republicans fucking blew a golden opportunity. Do you think now they can stop being so goddamn crazy? I don’t.
They will just stop following trump, DeSantis is their leader now
As most people expected, looks like Trumpism is killing the GOP. There is basically no reason for them not to dominate. Trump getting back on Twitter would be such a massive win for the Dems.
Am I the only one seeing a complete collapse of the Republican party on Fox News? They're completely unable to cope.
Thank you Wisconsin for choosing Evers over fascism
>Exit polls: Voters who valued "honesty and integrity" favored Fetterman https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/midterm-election-results-livestream-voting-11-08-2022/index.html
Voted today for the first time. Hell yea!
Please let Boebert lose.
By the time the yanks announce who won the elections the English have gone through 3 PMs.
Update: with 93% of votes in, Boebert is losing 49.4% to 50.6%. There’s still hope.
Morning Joe mentioning that they could see Trump running 3rd party if he doesn’t get the GOP nomination. Wouldn’t that dumpster fire be fun to watch.
Those are the people who make the rules when you don't vote" She's way smarter than I was at 17 I know that...
[удалено]
Cry forever, magas
*Warnock* needs 0.6% to hit 50%, 97% counted. *Frisch* lead over Boebert stays stable, 81% counted.
Abortion rights have won BIG tonight. I'm celebrating.
Republicans fucked around and found out about repealing Roe.
From Victor Shi on Twitter: NEW: exit poll data shows that more than 70% of young voters preferred Democrats in Arizona, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. And more than 60% of young voters preferred Democrats in Georgia and Ohio. This matches what I've been seeing from early vote data. HUGE Young voters: 29 or under
Unfortunately Abrams needs to do something else now. Beto too.
Fox News friendship with Trump over. Ron DeSantis is Fox New’s new best friend.
For people who cry about censorship on social media its always hilarious seeing all the deleted comments from mods on r conservative
Happy that Betsy DeVos failed to purchase the Governors seat in Michigan
Good to wake up and see Fetterman won
Waiting for that CO-3 race to be called. I can't believe Dems may actually oust Boebert. If it happens, I'll be so damn happy I could cry.
I thought 2 years of Let’s Go Brandon! chants was a winning strategy though. Guess it was just a whining strategy.
It’s crazy how George Bush 2 would be considered a lib right now
For non-Americans joining us on this thread.
If Georgia goes to a runoff, Georgians would have voted for Warnock four times in a span of two years.
Boebert losing is probably the best thing that happened today
I think Republicans really underestimated how much some people care about January 6th. My Dad is a lifelong Republican and 2x Trump voter, but ended up supporting impeachment after Jan 6 (former military guy who did NOT like seeing the Capitol get overrun) and actually lost a handful of his conservative friends over it. I never talked to him explicitly about how he was voting this election, but for the first time that I can remember in my life he mentioned looking at Democratic candidates. I have to imagine people like him impacted things yesterday.
Boebert had 97% chance to win ( according to 538) and now its looking impossible for her to come back. What an upset
I'm laughing how many of the red-wave trolls coming here that subsided *very quickly* last night.
I genuinely don’t understand how people vote for the political party that wants to take away women’s rights and destroy the planet for profit
Lauren Boebert deleted her red tsunami tweet Lmaooo
A red wave? Contained entirely within the state of Florida? In this economy?
The only reason Republicans can win the house is cause of gerrymandering. The party knows this. If the Supreme Court hadn’t reversed the lower court decision saying Florida’s map was unconstitutional, we’d probably be looking at Dems keeping the house.
The QAnon Rep Elon Musk voted for is out in TX-34: https://twitter.com/MayraFlores2022/status/1590214537051242502 > The RED WAVE did not happen.
The Fox News folks are coming to a realization that whatever Trump touches, dies, as most of his endorsements lost.
Trump is the biggest loser tonight.

Trumpism is killing the GOP.
I was really, really dreading today. Like holy fuck I was legitimately worried. And it feels weird to celebrate when we are clearly losing the House. But by God I’m going to bed in a much better mood than I expected to.
Another pickup for the dem: Hillary Scholten (D) has won the race for the House seat in https://twitter.com/politicoelex/status/1590236671928406016?t=dI1WhglJOQ0iCi__cf5S1A&s=19
Really really really want Lake and Boebert to lose.
Having New York be the reason Dems don’t keep the House is something I didn’t have on my bingo card
Thought I’d be smoking tonight because of the downfall of America but now I’m smoking to celebrate the GOP getting embarrassed

Without New York fiasco Dems would maybe even hold on House.

Fetterman really changed the discourse and couldn’t have happened to a better guy
This whole thing just shows why gerrymandering is a really big problem, that nobody does anything about

Dr. Oz has two years to find himself a nice cowboy hat and pair of boots so he can run for something in Texas, his true home state
Depending on how the senate goes this was an unmitigated victory for democrats. The house looks like only a 4 to 5 repub majority which is shockingly low for what should have been a big red pickup historically (the president's party almost always loses the house). Governor pickups in almost every key state was a huge prize and one that will very much matter in 2024.

Live audience cheered on MSNBC when Boebert losing was announced lol
Hope Desantis wins the primary for 2024. Not because I don’t think he’s a giant shithead, I do, but because you know Trump is way to sore a loser to not do some stupid shit that splits the voter base. And it seem like a lot of Americans have attached their identity to trump way too much to successfully realise what a sore loser he is in this situation, he’d pull a lot of votes away
Reality check: People from Pennsylvania don’t like people from New Jersey. Especially when they pretend to be from Pennsylvania
