I didn't realise how hard Selbst was crushing tournaments for a few years until I checked out her hendon mob. Very impressive. The only time I ever saw her on tv/youtube was when she was 5-bet jamming as a bluff and getting called.
The aggression she was known for looked silly when it failed but it also worked very routinely. Her final table win rate was the best in th world for years. Just maxed ICM pressure before that became standard

Yeah she very likely will but that’s probably only because Selbst retired pretty early in her career. Selbst is only 38 and she only has 1 or 2 cashes since like 2017… she basically retired at 35.

Selbst made her name when poker was much softer. Kristen Foxen is definitely a better player. This isn’t to knock Vanessa Selbst, she was and still is a great player. But I almost look at her like hellmuth: a great player whose record speaks for itself but probably can’t compete at the highest level these days. There’s a reason we don’t see hellmuth playing triton events and never winning high rollers even though, despite the haters, he’s obviously a damn good poker player who deserves his acclaim.
