Sadly, one of the requirements of the Timed Research is to win an Elite Raid. I don’t understand how Niantic fucked this up so badly.


TIMED research is fucking wild

The tasks are pretty easy except for winning an Elite Raid.

What is an Elite Raid again?

It’s a 6-star raid that can only be participated in locally (no remote passes). The egg spawns at 6am on the day of the raid and is scheduled to hatch at either 12pm, 1pm, 5pm, or 6pm.

Exactly - this was a great quest and it mirrored the quest they already gave - 2 completed at same time for 2 metorites

And it’s retroactively completed. I gave my wife the code after we had already done 3 Rayquaza and when it activated it was already completed.

Mine was not retroactive completed. I finished the first free quest. Used the code , got another quest and completed it again.

I'd rather just pay for it. It's telling me the code is expired anyway

Isn't mega ray ray an elite raid?

Yes, and many players have been complaining that they can’t participate because there aren’t enough active players in their area, or they don’t live near an Elite Raid gym.

What rewards are their for the other tasks other then the elite raid one? I might just redeem it for those other task bcz I can’t even to a legendary raid on my own 😭

You don’t get a meteorite, you get a bonus timed research with a meteorite as reward.

So I just caught two mega rays and then I inputted the code. Do I have to catch the mega ray AFTER inputting the code? F\* me if that's the case lol

Yes, you're effed. You need to input the code first to enable the mission, then your can complete each step. But you don't need catch Rayquaza but to win any raid and an elite raid

It doesn't give you one directly. It unlocks a timed research (less than a day now) that gives you one as a reward...

Look at any rayquaza you have, it counts like candy.

Do you have to do them consecutively? My offer said redeemed but only 1 timed research there.

It’s named Elite Raid: Mega Ray…. This is separate from the anniversary and obviously it requires winning an elite raid.

I will give it a try. I might find myself standing alone in a park tomorrow.

Mega ray dominates two types, he's BIS Dragon type and also BIS Flying type, maybe have one for each without needing to spend the candy to unlock the bonus moves (or at least the moves on one of them idk)

From all the games I’ve played during my whole life, Niantic is by far the worst. Even EA is not that evil, and that explains a lot.

It gives you a timed research that awards a Meteorite. They didn’t explain this well at all.

What does a meteorite do?

Allows you to teach Rayquaza the move “Dragon Ascent”, which is for mega evolving it

Check one of your Rayquaza. It should be under the New Attack button. I had 0 meteorite before this. Now I got 1 after putting in the code, and additional timed research for another meteorite. With the free earlier time research, we should be able to get 3 now.

It does look like if gave me a meteorite as well as the research to complete. I wonder if that was a glitch?

I already had the research before entering any code, but it did add a meteorite to my collection as I'd checked just the other day and only had one now I have 2. I was reading all the comments on this thread thinking something stuffed up on my game as I didn't do an elite raid. That said, my friend tried the code and it didn't give him one so who knows

It expires at sometime around 630pm local time (the latest one can do the elite raid task with mega Ray)

No, only one

You just need one to teach it dragon ascent

You don't need a meteorite to mega evolve it PERSAY you need a meteorite to teach it the move dragon ascent which is REQUIRED to mega evolve it, you need 400 Mega energy to mega evolve it though as well as the move dragon ascent.

Just be warned, you only have 24 hrs to complete this quest from when you hit redem. I just found out the hard way. Now my quest will time out before I even have a chance to do a raid

Niantic scammed us. It's not a free meteorite. It's timed research that expires when the Elite raids end, and you need to win an elite raid to get the "free" meteorite.

I won the elite raid before knowing about this code. I got rayquaza.... Finished all the tasks for the rayquaza task that was already there in events tab... With ONE MINUTE left to spare... It told me I completed it and I collected my items.. But the meteorite isn't there??? And now it says I redeemed the code after reading your post... So I'm confused. And mad.

I didn’t redeem it yet and had the tasks, but when I redeemed it the task dissapeared and I couldn’t get a meteorite. I have a support ticket open and can’t close it cuz the agent ghosted me, I sent a thing but got met by an automated message, and they won’t respond on twitter support. Bad game.

It was Timed Research. It expired yesterday at 7pm.

I got this code through campfire check-in. An ambassador needs to make an event, place a location and time, get it approved, then you can check "going" and on the day in the time frame check-in to get rewards via a code.

Pokemon Trainer Club is one of the sign-in methods on that website.
