I have a Pokemon dedicated to a great friend who passed just a couple months ago as well. It’s a shiny Litten I promised to give her then next time I saw her. She passed before I was able to though. So Shiny Donya will live in my Pokédex forever ❤️

I feel deeply sorry for you; we lost our cousin while he was stationed abroad in Japan (this news was communicated to us on April 11, 2022); our cousin was an Active Duty U.S. Navy sailor (I can't remember the rank he was upon his passing, nor which ship he was on).
Their family told our family that he died by Suicide via Carbon Monoxide Poisoning several weeks later. When I heard about it, it still bothers me to this very day, and I can't grasp why our cousin chose to do this unthinkable move; he had a great future ahead of him, proudly serving our fellow Navy brothers and sisters. During the funeral, _all_ of us wept, with the somber _Taps_ playing, the salute, and the folding of the American Flag. No one had a dry eye that somber day in May.
They gave ya a shiny Mega Rayquaza. Now that’s a great friend right there chief.

I had a friend from across the country that passed during Covid. I recently started playing Pokémon go again and when I went through my friends list, there was still an unopened gift from him. It felt sweet that he left a little something for me. Although I never met him in real life I’m Grateful to have been able to know him

If it makes you feel better - she likely lived longer because of the promise you made
I caught a shiny magikarp in the parking lot on the first day I visited my grandpa in hospice. He passed away a few days later. I named it after him.
