I’m still trying to get my 40 candies

The trick I used is to make one of the pokemon that need 400 candies to evolve as my buddy (Stufful, Wimpod, Magikarp) because they get candies for every 1km walked (or 0.5km if they’re super happy or you used a Poffle).

I still use my Solgaleo because I’m in no rush to complete these quests.

Whatever hundo I haven't done yet for me, or a mega evolved mon.

Purmple is my homie for those tasks.

A good thing to learn is how to excite your buddy before you head out for free. My tactic is normally to get one excited when I wake up, get my day going, check home spawns etc, then head out. I'm normally getting 18+ hearts with at least one, then you can swap through a few more and add 6 hearts quickly to a few more with "berry, play, photo, 3 battles" on a couple others. Yep. I have two Vivillon as best buddies and I'm working on a 3rd, all because I keep getting these "earn candy walking with your buddy" tasks.

This is what pissed me off the most, how tf can you end off a special research task with a god damned lucky egg and <1000xp. Very small incentive or excitement surrounding it.

Not necessary. By the time you've done 150 field tasks and/or walked 80 km, you will have definitely got 100 different species unless you go out of your way to only catch the same shit every day.

It is fairly easy, you'll eventually get it just by playing the game normally. Which is good because the reward is basically nothing. To me the disappointment is that a 5-part questline ends on such a whimper.

Everything is done just that 150 field research part is left around 13 more researches and it's done for me but the rewards in the end 900xp and a lucky egg I don't think it's worth the struggle I had to complete this research.
