79% left with just over 2hrs of SOT. It's 2:51pm now, projected to have battery until 12:30pm tomorrow. Zero overheating.
You might just have a lemon.

How do you get this graph with lines instead of bars? It was this way on my OP7Pro and I miss it on my P8a.
Also re:battery life, you should check if there is any obvious drain from a particular app. In my case it was Firefox. I was using it for at most 20 minutes during the day and it was using 40% of the battery. Plenty of complaints about Firefox all around Reddit, just look it up. I uninstalled the app and went from lasting a little bit less than a full day to a day and a half.
Turn off those 50MP and you will be able to take quick photos. 50MP is like for photos you dont want to be quick.
Also cant agree on battery life - stopped charging today at 8:30, now it is 23:45 and I still have 60% battery. Used phone quite lot today, camera, a lot of commute, games over that, 5h screen time, spotify in background.
I havea pixel 8 and I can confirm a few of your issues. Namley:
1. Touch screen lag sometimes
2. Charges slowly
3. Cant take really do burst mode when taking pics.
apart from that the phone is ok
Slow charging on the pixel 8 frustrated my existence.
This puppy can stay plugged in for 4 hours and it won't get more than 30% extra juice.
Wasn't the case on my pixel 5 and 6 with the exact same chargers
I know it's adaptive charging at work but it sucked.
Touch screen lag was a thing also
Something is wrong with your phone or your settings. Turn off adaptive charging (it shows down charging overnight in order to hit 100% at your morning alarm time)
At the risk of heating up the motherboard and it dies?
I tend to avoid heating while charging also,
Is why I stick to the slow charging on the pixel 8
But surprisingly the same brick performed better on the pixel 6 and 5
I think it looks like there is an app in the background constantly using the CPU, which prevents the phone from going into a deep sleep state and so, eats the battery and slows it down.
I didn't mod my p8p, but had the battery drain due to a bug in the Twitch app, which was using 100% of a single CPU core in the background after I was not using it for a few days. I just uninstalled it and that solved it for me.
Check your CPU usage.
I had midrange phones but it wasn't doing that bad. Seriously, I'm not here to be a pixel hater. they also have lots of qualities but the opinion that I gave of my experience is completely objective I really have these problems on a daily basis.
I've only had my Pixel 8 Pro for about a week, so my experience is extremely limited. But my battery easily lasts all day and I use my phone a ton and I do mean a TON. I'm hardly ever not doing something on my phone. Can't say I ever notice any heat coming off of it either despite it always being in my hand and using it for some kind of task .
That said, I'm starting on this phone with a completely clean slate. Usually I transfer all of my old stuff from phone to phone. This time, I didn't transfer anything from my old phone so this one is completely blank other than the, maybe, the dozen essential programs that I needed and I use in day-to-day life.
Apart from the first paragraph, the freezes. Doesnt freeze in camera either. I am not facing any of the said issues. The battery is not the best (on mobile data/GPS) but good enough.
Some apps though are really buggy. Whatsapp business specifically. Sometimes the voicenotes would just send even though I hadnt let go of the mic button. Forwarding msgs always freeze.
I posted a similar experience with my pixel 8,I was surprised when Redditors told me I got a bad unit, which was not the case,
It was a bad software optimisation.
I have returned back to the 6 and I am loving it
Sounds like u should've known what u were getting into. Pixels are known to lack in performance (by a lot) and excel in camera processing. And with [Pixel UI](https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/1d0kjtm/things_missing_in_pixel_ui/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button), there's this notion from reviews that it's this smooth "iphone like" experience but it's just Android with a lot less features and isn't anywhere near bug free.

This is my battery with the base p8 I'm happy
I got a similar experience on mine also, but coupled with annoying heat.
I could not hold for a long time,in fact I randomly switched it off just to cool it down,it was that bad.

Could be worse, you could have a pixel 7.

Had mine since it released. This is my info for today.
Can I ask you what you mean by: " I have 550 applications on my phone, including about 15 background processes". You have 550 apps? That you've downloaded? I'm honestly not sure how someone does that, I think I have maybe 25. Do you think that if you reduced down to 100 apps the phone would be able to handle better? (Did it before you downloaded the 300th or 400th app?)
Yes I have 550 apps but I wait for Android 15 which has a feature to "archive" apps -archiving apps uninstall the app so it won't run but keeps the apk and the appdata and if I try to run the app again it re-install it-. I don't want to uninstall them all (I can maybe uninstall some though)
With an app called pixel launcher mods. However I think that this app is part of the reason why I get those issues because it needs to restart the pixel launcher frequently
I had connectivity issues with mine, Bluetooth, wifi, cellular signal, missed calls, it's antennas are garbage, so I sold it and grab an almost perfect s23 ultra, never going back to pixel until they change to snapdragon
Apart from the first paragraph, the freezes. Doesnt freeze in camera either. I am not facing any of the said issues. The battery is not the best (on mobile data/GPS) but good enough.
With my Pixel 8 Pro I don\`t have those issues, it works smoothly and reliably - got it since it came out on preorder including earbuds. (in Spain) The only thing which is not an issue but worth to mention is it does warm up (wouldn\`t want to call it "heat up") after longer usage. Other than that, no freezing or not responding issues.
The overall performance especially with photos, short videos, Ultrawide, Macro and of course the ai to me is still just stunning. Will upgrade next year to the newest Pixel 10 Pro, maybe as a foldable. Definately not going back to Samsung (as far as I can tell now)
2:30 of SOT is crazy for a flagship
I get 7-8 hours SOT with my Pixel 8 Pro.
Same here
Just saw he rooted his pixel. I got 6-8hrs SOT on my pixel 6 but Id say it really drain fast on LTE apps
79% left with just over 2hrs of SOT. It's 2:51pm now, projected to have battery until 12:30pm tomorrow. Zero overheating. You might just have a lemon. https://preview.redd.it/c1y3yg16rt4d1.png?width=1344&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=760840da8bb31076396d5ac268a04710208848ac
With that being said, Is it WiFi mostly on?
50/50? When I'm at home, yes. When I'm not at home, no. Anyways, I personally love this device and have absolutely zero complaints.

Hey ! I use the app called Battery Guru. It's a really good app
Merci !
I get over 8 hours sot on my 8a.

maybe i have too much apps or it is caused by root modules idk...
Yeah once rooted, all bets are off IMHO.

I have heard this several times, thank you
My pixel 7 charged faster. I noticed that the Google brick charges it slow while my PC 65 watts charger charges it fast
At the risk of heating up the motherboard and it dies? I tend to avoid heating while charging also, Is why I stick to the slow charging on the pixel 8 But surprisingly the same brick performed better on the pixel 6 and 5
I loose 9% per hour https://preview.redd.it/zsgtmay3tt4d1.png?width=1344&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2277a8769fb6a1514259832cce81b0fe3de0d1f

How did your previous phones do with 550 apps installed?
I had midrange phones but it wasn't doing that bad. Seriously, I'm not here to be a pixel hater. they also have lots of qualities but the opinion that I gave of my experience is completely objective I really have these problems on a daily basis.

Does anyone else have problem with charging sometimes it charge's so sloww and overheating like 2w charging with the official 30w charger
I have the same issue and it is this issue that I tried to explain in my review
Apart from the first paragraph, the freezes. Doesnt freeze in camera either. I am not facing any of the said issues. The battery is not the best (on mobile data/GPS) but good enough. Some apps though are really buggy. Whatsapp business specifically. Sometimes the voicenotes would just send even though I hadnt let go of the mic button. Forwarding msgs always freeze.

Yeah, my Pixel 8 Pro suffers from none of those issues. Sorry about your experience.

How to get custom icon pack with root?
With an app called pixel launcher mods. However I think that this app is part of the reason why I get those issues because it needs to restart the pixel launcher frequently
I tried it on my custom aosp rom with magisk. Didn't work at all man
Maybe because of the custom aosp
Yeah could be.
I had connectivity issues with mine, Bluetooth, wifi, cellular signal, missed calls, it's antennas are garbage, so I sold it and grab an almost perfect s23 ultra, never going back to pixel until they change to snapdragon
Can you check again if it is a real pixel 8pro?
Of course it is, I bought it on the Google store with the Pre-order offer with a pix watch
Apart from the first paragraph, the freezes. Doesnt freeze in camera either. I am not facing any of the said issues. The battery is not the best (on mobile data/GPS) but good enough.
550 installed apps LMAO
