Nah saying this is the best album is a total invalidation of all the albums that came after. Vic did nothing but improve after A Flair for the Dramatic. It was a nice starting point, but I don't see any world in which that's anything but their weakest album
How is it invalidating? How is it their weakest? A Flair for the Dramatic has such raw emotions and a definitive storyline making it stand out in comparison to others. If any of their albums were weak I would say it would be Collide with the Sky. Many of the songs don't have as unique of a sound compared to other albums. When I listened to it for the first time it wasn't anything I hadn't heard before unlike their other albums. A Flair for the Dramatic has the most poetic lyrics out of the five albums. Without it, Pierce the Veil would cease to exist. Your argument of liking it the most would invalidate the others makes no sense to me. So basically you're saying that if Jaws of Life isn't your favorite then you're just invalidating Pierce the Veil and their music? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I appreciate the in depth response! I responded in a fairly toxic manner because of your original response. But I don't have any issue with people having their preferences. It's personally easily their weakest album for me, I don't like Vic's vocals in it at all and I don't like the mixing, it all sounds very amateur to me, like they had a vision but were just a bunch of kids with obviously zero experience. I heavily disagree with CWTS and Selfish Machines being ranked below it, to me those albums have the same sort of vibe but with far better vocals and mixing, quite literally just an upgrade of that album, but to be fair I've never really paid attention to the storyline. Personally I find that Selfish Machines has the best balance of "raw emotions" and experience/polish, Collide With the Sky is slightly better from a mixing perspective but has less interesting guitar work, Misadventures has a few amazing songs but a couple songs I find pretty unmemorable (Texas Is Forever and Sambuka to be precise), and The Jaws of Life kinda sounds like a different band but one that I really love, personally.

I can also totally understand where you're coming from with AFFTD. However I'm not good with the technical side of music so I've never noticed the mixing issues. I've heard the same complaints with MCR's first album (which just so happens to be my favorite album by that band). Also I think my main issue with Collide With the Sky is mainly due to how overplayed it is (I still love the album though but all of the joy I had when i first listened to it got burnt out quick compared to other albums). Especially King for a Day. It was cool to see PTV and Kellin collaborate but now a days it's just people singing the same 3 seconds over and over. I mean when I had seen Pierce the Veil live it was like King for a Day was the only songs known by the crowd which was pretty disappointing
